It's always great to see women making much needed inroads in the Ski industry !!

She is so inspiring! We need more women in senior leadership in the ski industry- she’s a great example of what is possible. Thank you Aspen for implementing change and not just talking about diversity. Next step, Alterra brings this to their 14 other mountains, and promotes members of the BIPOC community and women for all tiers of leadership roles.

Another fantastic video Deb, I'm 56 and have learned so much from your channel, and not just skiing, but life lessons. The drills I've learned, which I do in my warm up have improved my technique considerably. My biggest problem is.....I suck going slow, catch edges, off balance fall over it's crazy. So lately I've been working on my going slow technique 😂 I'm a high advanced skier so it's maddening. I live on Vancouver Island in Canada and the province has had a amazing season and it's not over. Revy, Kicking Horse been amazing and OMG the sled skiing is out of this world. Take care everyone.

Katie was great and I can relate to what she says. Thank you for the video! My analogy of success was when I took a day off to ski a few years ago. It was new Cascade cement day, about a foot heavy new snow . I went down a Black Diamond run that was steep and as I was connecting my 3rd turn my new downhill ski all of a sudden sunk, throwing me forward as I skied the fall line. I didn't panic even though I was close the the point of no return before gravity took over. I stayed with the ski and skied out of it. As I rode back up the chairlift I analyzed what just happened and thought of how skiing could relate to the analogy of success in life and came up with this:
45% is skill, 45% is confidence, and 10 % is luck.

I have been skiing for many, many years and ski for the reason so elegantly expressed by Katie. Thanks for sharing. And, Deb, you are not the only one skiing who has a fear of heights in places where we ski. Standing at the top of Snowbird where the tram lets out gives me the willies, as does riding some of those chairs with no safety bars. But we endure just because of what she said.

Discovered the channel fairly recently, last 6 months or so, and have really enjoyed the videos and going back through the older videos too. I'm UK based, and a qualified accountant, but covid has driven home how passionate I feel about skiing (because I've not been able to ski for over a year now) so I'm embarking on my ski career this year and starting my instructor qualifications to hopefully one day be able to say i make all my "pay checks" from the ski industry. Thanks for your videos, I really appreciate them!

I feel your pain, afraid of heights! Skiing and mountain biking helps, but some of those chair lifts, especially Jackson Hole, whew, takes my breath away. This video goes in the keep box under "better person"! Thank you for creating videos; I've become a better skier this year, incorporating mindfulness on the slopes and in the workout room due to your teaching. I'm working on feeling the balance in my feet and ankles. I'm inspired!

  • @margaretreid6570

Really enjoyed that. There are only two places where I feel that sense of freedom and appreciating that each day and each ride is different; when I am on skis and when I ride my bike. Doesn't need to be long or can be a day when things don't go to plan but that feeling of the wind in your face and only thinking of the moment is difficult to beat. At the moment there is no opportunity to ski however positive videos like this keep us going in the knowledge that we will be able to experience it all for real one day soon.

Talking initiative and be willing to put in the extra work where you think it will help the business, the individual and yourself...
