Lowkey pisses me off that people get onto this video, which reviews NOIR, and they comment about how they wanted an ALLTY3 reaction review instead. Thats actually mad disrespectful to the artist of NOIR.
Album was prolly as good as blkswn was, and blkswn was really good. I think after these two albums im ready to hear some different subject matter from him. He’s in my top 5-10 fav artist right now. Jid, jazz cartier, denzel curry, vince staples, chuuwee, itsxmusic, rtj, etc.
Smino, Bari, Bas, Noname, Ravyn Lenae, and Saba all almost always have the same producer that's why they all sound so similar and work together all the time, Monte Booker is I think my new favorite producer cause of these people he's helping
I agree but ion think Smino sounds like anyone else he’s honestly in his own boat lot of ppl say he sounds like Chance but I feel like he’s more creative and unique than Chance like there’s literally no other artist is like him
His main producer is Monte Booker. And the sound he uses can be pretty much labeled as "soulection", which is technically just a label that pushes underground producers, but they all have a sorta similar sound. I suggest you check em out you can get into other pretty cool small rappers and singers like bari, ciscero, Jay2, akenya or theMIND. You probably heard some of these artists on albums from some of the bigger artists that use the soulection sound like goldlink, noname, saba, kaytranada, ravyn lenae. But yeah I'm just happy you're enjoying the sound lol.
@@SwooshJush83 aye I saw noname and got a pic with her at a festival she just started walking around and going to concerts lmao. Never seen smino though
My first time listening to anything Smino and I as well thought he was from Chicago since I heard that song on Noname’s album. I must say I’m very impressed. His delivery is very off the wall and exciting to listen to. And I love the subtle instances of Jazz rap throughout the project. I love this project.
@@applejuws and still today the whole album is fire. Waiting for the Ghetto Sage album/single whatever it will be on Thursday. Saba Smino and Noname are about to blow up from it 🧢📴
bruh i wasn't rocking with this album for the whole first 2 listens through. I'm about 10 listens through the album now, and it's crept its way into my top 5 of the year.
We needed a rapper who reps STL and Smino is and has been the one. About two years ago it was looking like he’d rep Chi, but I’m glad he’s stayed true to St. Louis.
Hmmm I'm not sure yet. For noname I think I liked telefone better, but even for her I'm not sure lol. Saba 100% prefer care for me over anything else he's ever done though.
People always say they were surprised Smino is from St. Louis. St. Louis has a very musical history. Scott Joplin, Miles Davis, Chuck Berry, Ike & Tina Turner, etc. Of course Nelly and Metro Boomin. Also if you're not from the middle of the map you not gonna understand the historical connections between Chicago and St. Louis.
i'm glad you've managed to stay away from the imDontai type of just-reviewing-hot-tracks-and-freaking-out-over-them style (nothing against Dontai, i like his channel when i'm excited over a new hype track and also think he's a genuine guy). Anyway, i think you're becoming a legitimate source for critic review on what makes good, quality music. You're like the black fantano now! Just wanted to let you know the quality content you create; I'm sure a lot of hard work has been put in to it and it's definitely paying off.
Shawn if it aint a reaction video you can keep it :L when i got the notification and saw you uploaded a smino video I was so keen to cop, only to see its just a review
Thanks for reviewing this I just discovered Smino a couple days before the album came out and I thought his style was so unique. Out of curiosity, did you listen to IDK and Friends?
SPINZ is such a good song, I’ve been listening to Smino since blkswn and then listened to just about everything he’s put out (including features and all that) and i can honestly say he’s become one of my more favorite rappers quickly. I usually listen to rappers like Cole Isaiah Rashad Mick Jenkins and he just fits that chill layback but funky upbeat type of role.
Also great video as always. Although sometimes I may not completely agree with some reviews and vids, I still respect and admire your comprehension and understanding of music
I know you do this cuz u like it man, but please do something for the fans g:(.....(takeoff, ALLTY3, signed to the streets etc.) ... still waiting some merch
