Cutted shims are allowed underneath the base frame?
It's in an API 686?
As per API 686 on Installation Angular Softfoot are not acceptable.
Parallel softfoot only accepted.

But as per api 686, step shim or cut shim can not be used for soft foot correction.
Thanks for the information. Yes You are right Cut shims are not allowed from construction and commissioning time but unfortunately some of angular soft foots will occurs on the operation and maintenance time period. So from maintenance you cant rewok on the base with short period. in this case we should use cut shims to cover angular soft foot cum parallel softfoot. Theoretically you can say but practically it will not work out.

@@rasetech agreed, to reduce the angular soof foot in future, for that during construction phase motor base blue matching as well as foot checked without shim . for that used dial indicator over motor base or coupling and check soft foot for all 4 foot and reading must be within 0.05mm. In this way we reduce possibility the angular soft foot for future case

Readymade shims are available Or you can cut from shim sheets...

Slip gauge same procedure than bro. Feeler gauge use pandradhuku bathil. Neenga slip gauge use panna poringa avlo than bro difference.

when we add shims for soft foot, will that disturb the vertical and horizontal alignment that was already completed?
Yes correct. Soft foot needs to be corrected before alignment.
@@rasetech Ok let's say we corrected soft foot before alignment and then we start to do alignment where we determine by calculation that we have to add shims, so that may result in bringing the softfoot back again. So how do we resolve such situations?
@@nirmalsurendranmenon7049 Once you corrected your softfoot and shimed properly. then you will correct the misalignment by adding shims or removing shims equally from Front foot 2 legs and back foot 2 legs. So softfoot shims remains same at the moment. So It will not disturb again. First practically try it for the same. Then only its easy to understand. implement the same as practical. and Provide lockdown bolts with exact torque value for the bolt tighness.
