  • In this video, you will learn how to create a scary Chaos Night Lord from the Blackstone Fortress Lord. You will also learn how to build two different bases, including a 40k graveyard and the space marine trapped under ice base. If you're feeling awesome, you can donate to help me create more videos :-)

    Oh well. Just a little bit more work when I make my Word Bearers Chaos Lord (planning to replace the head from the Raptors/Warp Talons box since he'll be a Chaos Lord with Jump Pack).

    • @Mezgike
      @Mezgike  4 года назад

      It's attached because GW made this model 'push-fit', so no glue is required. It's fine, just have to hack the head out. You can try to save it but I've done a head swap on this model twice now and it's hard to save without needing to sculpt the sides back on (that is if you plan on keeping the head for something else).

    Your so relaxed I'd be swearing at the putty or the face then cut the tip of my nail off . Guess I'm aggressive! Excellent work !👍👌🖖 try bakeing powder for basing plus it has a drying effect on plastic plus other glues..insted of chopping the base why not flip it over and pur the figures into it the use clear flat modeling plastic over the top once the figure is painted.

    • @Mezgike
      @Mezgike  5 лет назад

      Yep you could totally try that with the base, it would be much easier to flip it. I just need to have the angle of the rim facing the right way otherwise I won’t be able to sleep. That is also a good idea with using the clear plastic sheet. I’m not sure if it would look as good and you’d probably be able to see the imperfections in the bottom. With resin you can’t see the bottom, it looks like an endless sea

    Hiya. Great conversion and nice to see the Night Lords getting some attention. Basing has got to be one of my favorite aspects of the hobby and I loved both of the options you showed us. The Marine reaching up out of the ice was pretty sick.
    This is my first time tuning into your content, so I don't know if any of your other videos are different yet. That said, if I may make a couple suggestions based on this one. There were a couple times where you had a hard time remembering what kits the parts you were using came from. It would be helpful to double check so your viewers know, just in case they want to do things the exact way you did. I'm personally not familiar with the AdMech kits at all, so I had no idea what that gun was. Secondly, a little low volume background music for the whole show would have been great. I know not everyone likes that though.

      Do you mean the gas canisters on his mask? On the skitarii kit, you know how there are the rifles and then there are those other carbine guns? On those carbines, the little magazines or battery things, right on the end there are little round bits. Chop those off and away you go. You should end up with a half sphere with a little lip.

    • @Mezgike
      @Mezgike  5 лет назад

      In this video I show how to hollow out the base and place the trapped space marine. In the other video (how to paint night lords) where I paint the actual model, I finish it by pouring the resin and painting the ice. Just skip to the end of that video to see the resin pour and finishing the base. I split my videos into 2 parts, how to build/convert and how to paint.

  • @Renay90
    @Renay90 4 года назад

    man, that frozen base is so dope. what exactly did you use to fill it up? just glue?

    • @Mezgike
      @Mezgike  4 года назад

      Renay90 thanks bro. I showed the finishing process in the other video, ‘how to paint nightlords’. It’s just a clear epoxy resin from an art store. 2 part resin that you mix and it cures gently over about 5-6 hours. You can get polyurethane resins that cure much more aggressively, over a few minutes, but for stuff like this where I don’t want to damage the paint, I’d use epoxy resin.

My hand will feel a tiny bit unsettled. I just try to stay calm and have relaxed breathing. It’s also a good idea to brace yourself. I will mostly join both hands together while I paint, one hand holds the model, the other hand holds the brush/tool, but holding them together gives each hand stability and support. If they shake, they will shake together, hope that makes sense.

      @@Mezgike No, it doesn't. You just refer to "resin pour". Is it clear resin? Did you mix in paint to create the blue-ish hue? Or paint the bottom? Don't get me wrong, I love the base. It's one of the best I've seen and I'd love to do similar bases for my Wolves, but the end of the video seems a bit hastily done. I could have used a tiny bit more details as I'm still learnning to create bases

    • @Mezgike
      @Mezgike  5 лет назад +2

      Mikael Rasmussen I misunderstood what you meant sorry. It is just clear 2 part epoxy resin. No colour added. The colour comes from painting the surface.
