Yeah apparently they also did a recording for Electric Cross in this set but the footage got lost, which is such a crying shame because that song is such a total BANGER. Imagine having a live studio performance like this for more of their tracks! It's totally their style and it's so lovely to watch. Reminds of the Radiohead "from the basement" sessions! Love those too!
That performance was the first thing I ever heard by Spiritbox. Blew my mind. I feel like their sound has matured so much since then, but this song is still super iconic. Also, I like this even more than the studio trilogy. One of the main reasons for that is that insane belt from Courtney in Pt. 1.
They are still playing pt3 on the current tour in April 2023. She actually screams the last few "Its the effect of The Mara" s at a higher pitch than the first bunch. It is so good.
Yeah what a killer performance. Really interesting to listen to this again after hearing Eternal Blue. Can definitely hear how much more proggy their older songs are (not a complaint just an observation). Also the change in guitars is from the blue 6 string to the red 7 string for the breakdown at the end of Mara Effect pt3 and I believe Bill moves to a 5 string.
I adore their new album, but I also miss this kind of music from them. Sometimes we get a little glimpse of their early songs, like how Eternal Blue (the song) is in many ways reminiscent of The Mara Effect, or how Silk in the Strings is similar to Aphids, but I'd just love it if going forward they once again put a little more of an emphasis on the progressive side of their music.
I hope they just felt like being a little simpler and "radio friendly" for their first official album. There's no reason to think they won't get more complex on the next album.
i was there during their first ever uk headline show, and they played mara 3. courtney somehow managed to better the song even more: during the last half of the final chants, she did really high pitched screams; shrieks basically. i was so lost in the moment that i didnt even realise until i watched a video afterwards and it shook me tf up
I forgot you hadn't done this version. There is actually a short interlude track titled 10:16 right before Part 2 that is about a minute long. I doubt there is any chance of them playing the whole thing live, at least until they start headlining shows and have a longer set. Courtney mentioned not thinking about the length of their songs because they didn't start touring for so long. Then they realized how few they could play live. I think they consciously kept them shorter on Eternal Blue for that reason. They performed Part 3 in the virtual concert they did for Sirius XM. It's in the part 3 of the Metal Detector vids from that. Each one is 2 songs. It's even better than this one IMO and also has The Beauty Of Suffering.
This video is incredible, but Mike says they’ll never do an in studio full band thing like this again because it was such a headache to get setup and going properly. Also, they never really did all three parts in a live show. Usually they used to do part one, but that’s it.
Even after the new album I think this is still the best thing they've produced. There are some individual songs that I like better, but as a whole this is just incredible
Why doesnt any of the reaction youtubers give the drummer any credit for pt2????? So incredibly difficult the tempo changes and that chorus is soooo driving
What?! You've never seen/heard this live version until now?!
I've lost count how many times I've watched/listened to this. Multiple chills each time.😳
It’s amazing
@@Roguenjosh Unquestionably!!!
This performance is amazing
VERY

Oh that would have been amazing!
3:50 is the best thing I've ever heard
OMG YES! I can watch it everyday. It's my fav song and I doubt that will change for the next few years :)
It’s epic

It had a different feel and I really like it

So sick every time
Every. Time.

Such a great band

They're never gonna top this, but all of their songs are awesome
Masterpiece.
Absolute.
Been waiting for this one!
Me too!!
Glad you got around to this one! *I knew you would eventually lol!!*
It’s been on the list for over a year 😂
I'm seeing them live next week...as an opener for a band I've never heard of, lol. I'm so fucking pumped!

it's 10:16* :)
@@joevahkiin2329 Lol, don't know how I messed that up. Thanks
I thought they’d extended it out!

In the album, Part I is my favorite, followed by Part III, but in this performance...the end of Part III is unreal.
So huge!
It is literally spiritbox sounds before and after pt3
Now imagine after part 3, Eternal Blue plays as The Mara effect part 4
NICE

Ryan is pretty damn good. Hardly anyone notices his cymbal stack either, which is such a ridiculously cool sounding thing.
