I feel that Radiohead are the spiritual successor to the Beatles I also think out of any of the bands formed in the last 30 years or so that they are the best and people will listen to their records many years after they are gone.

This song was written for the Romeo & Juliet movie. They agreed to have it included during the ending credits in theatres but the song was not included in the cd soundtrack. They wanted to keep it for Ok Computer, which would come out a few months later. And on the movie sountrack you can find another rarity from Radiohead, Talk Show Host, a great song and fan favorite.

I’ve only seen them live once. At Roundhouse in Chalk Farm. They played this song. The whole crowd was silent. Absolutely silent. Just watching in awe. Then someone dropped a plastic beer glass and it bounced around on the floor and made more noise than it had a right to just because everyone was so quiet. But what a great song.

@@HarriBestReactions I went and saw that crappy movie only because rumor was there was an unreleased Radiohead track at the end credits. It was months before Ok Computer came out. Having nothing but the Bends to go on it was the last thing I expected, totally worth the ticket price just to hear that song on a theater sound system for the first time. Then the Paranoid Android video came out and..... the rest is history.

So glad you are taking a deeper dive into Radiohead. There is some profoundly amazing music awaiting. To get a really good vibe of them more intimately, check out anything from Live from the Basement - "Weird Fishes" or "Nude" or "Bodysnatchers" would all be great starts - other songs that are really stunning are "There, There" "How to Disappear Completely" and "Pyramid Song". Radiohead is one of only 10 artists who've had 5 albums in the Rolling Stone Top 500 list and 2 of their albums, OK Computer and Kid A are on a bunch of lists as the greatest album ever made, yet on top of that the album In Rainbows may be their best work (out of 9 so far with almost 3 strong albums worth of B Sides alone in addition) - so I hope you do vibe with them - a lot of their music is the "takes 3 or 4 listen and THEN it hits like knockout" variety but it is worth it.

The vocals and guitar were recorded in the grand stairway of a manor house in Bath, so that's where that incredible sound comes from. Also, I guess the proximity to Bristol made them channel a little Portishead into this song. :)

I was fortunate enough to see this performed live a couple of times back in the early 2000's. Absolutely fantastic. They really jacked up the bass in the latter part of the song. I felt it vibrate through my body. Honestly, I've been trying to find a way to reproduce that sound since those great experiences :)

So glad to see you delving deeper into them. So many, many levels. High and low. I have seen a lot of people compare to them to the Beatles, but I cannot be agree. I know they were influenced by them, as most bands are.... but their sound is truly their own. They are in and of themselves complete. Thanks Harri for exploring them further. The desperateness in this song reflects the movie it was written for: Romeo and Juliet. As always, peace and love, Harri. Eat, sleep, and take care of yourself first.

Radiohead is famous for songs that get much, much, better with repeated listens one other thing I would like to add there is a Reggae consortium of sorts called Easy All-Stars that did 3 albums generally considered among the best ever in their entirety in a Reggae fashion Sgt. Peppers by the Beatles Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd and OK Computer Radiodread I think they called it I thought it had some great moments I especially loved the Toots and the Maytells I think that is what they were called their version of Let Down was epic in fact I think Thom Yorke said it was better than Radioheads version you should check it out it does not have to be a reaction do it for yourself I bet you dig it.
