He started mainstream in 1988 and continued full fledged till 2008....man 20 years is a real long time to be among top singers in Bollywood. Gracy singh was such a fantastic find. This was her debut movie, see her performance, beauty, expressions and dance. She proved herself further in her 2nd,3rd & 4th films (Armaan,Gangajal & Munna Bhai MBBS) yet she wasnt taken seriously enough. She should have got all the success & oppurtunities which Kareena & Esha got, both of whom debuted during the same period as Gracy.

Oh come on there's nothing exceptional about her performance. She's merely doing the steps, there's no grace at all. No offence to her but every time I watch this I wish they had casted a better dancer for a wonderful song like this. She fails to touch that heart string in the audience.
Nepotism sure exists but it has nothing to do with this actress not making it big in b'wood.
Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit and many other outsiders made huge mark in the industry. Gracy Singh never had any glamorous roles in her whole career (I believe she was not fit for). Her mediocre Indian look typecasted her into typical desi simple girl next door, married woman kind of roles. She never evolved with time neither with her looks or her choice of roles.

There are so many “elements” to this song, will take pages to explain.
It is based on Raag Bhimpalaasi.
The drum beats at the intro symbolize Radha’s jalan, she envies the Gopi’s.
End of first antara, there is an orchestral string when camera is panned on Rachel Shelly- a westernized element to sigify that the English Lady is deep into this leela and she feels it strongly.
The Mohan Veena at the 2nd interlude is by Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, a pioneer and inventor of the instrument variant.
The sargam at the end is a crescendo to Radha’s undying love for Krishna.
ARR is an institution. Not a musician.
