You can hear the individual coaches, and they keep the champion engines' lines! Way better than the official release, just feel more natural

I had the pleasure of meeting Jeevan Braich after one of the previews. What a mature and talented young gentleman. Also very amenable to a selfie and autograph from a middle aged woman who has been obsessed with Starlight Express for 32 years😂.
He is a true star in the making. I am pretty sure he will have huge success as a musical theatre actor!
So much better than the other release. A much truer indication of the shows sound and with out all the unnecessary and egregious tuning etc.
A better mix as well. The other version sounds so jarring.

Thank goodness we have this recording with the extra bit at 1:44, because when I saw the show I thought they were saying "dirty old bastard" and I was concerned I'd never be able to find out what it really is hahah

Well...! I wonder what this mix actually was, then? My copy of the cd won't arrive for a little while yet, but the official youtube now has the "album" and.... it ain't this mix! It's the other mix that we all thought was either just a worse mix, or a better mix for releasing as a single. That wasn't what convinced me this version was from the album though, it was the fact that lines recorded here are cut in the other version. But that's what's gone up today as the album track!
I guess I'll wait and see what people report is on the physical albums when they start to appear, but um... I'll say I'm surprised.

Is this the one that’s gonna be on the cast recording? It sounds way different to the one ALW uploaded.
I think they would of played that one instead if it wasn't. Most people are saying the single one is a pop version and this one will most likely be on the album which I agree as its mostly going to be the show soundtrack.

This song was not in the original show ... is it even related to a train race ??
It's actually been in the show for a very long time, it was written as a song for Rusty in 1992! Starlight has actually changed a bunch of times over the years being chopped and changed and rewritten, the show has been extremely different to the original show for many years now.
@strangeandinteresting Yes, I know it's been changed, what's your point? I said it wasn't in the original show .... which I watched at the Apollo in London in 1985 ish ... 😏
@@joline2730 Omg, you have no idea how jealous I an for getting to see the *original* original, haha. My point is just that, like, the song has been here for a while. For what it's worth, it is actually related to the race, it's now Rusty's intro song and main motif the same way 'Call Me Rusty' was. So, maybe not directly *about* the race, but certainly about the main character.
@@joline2730 To clarify, it just seemed like you weren't aware the show had been changed at all since '84 based on your original comment, but now I see you are, haha.
@@strangeandinteresting I actually saw it about three times, and I bought the original Soundtrack LP, that's why I know the song wasn't in it ... Cliff Richard went to see it several times too, the Theatre had sectioned off a part of the Circle seating with a curtain ... and I sneakily looked behind it, he was there with some friends, but no-one saw me and I did not disturb them - just a little anecdote 🎼🎵🎶🤪
