It's not harder to focus more on stuff for a big country than for a small country. If 20 out of 100 focus more on stuff in the big country, and 2 out of 10 in the small country, it's not harder at all. It's the same. I've seen no evidence that US citizens have it hardcoded in their dna to react differently than scandinavians to humane treatment.
