Brad, I have always enjoyed the content of your channel. Today's was bit too overwrought with religiosity. It is, of course your channel- and for some unknown reason, has metamorphosed into a pulpit. I will bow out respectfully. I wish you, and your family abundant health, and happiness.

@@TheGadgettracker Butthurt? I wasn't rude, or disrespectful to Brad in any regard. Your ill- conceived notion is witless and atypical of apologists who attempt to meld a comparative of art that is strictly man made, to be a manifestation of a god or gods. It is the exact rationalization 12 step practitioners make; to give credit for their sobriety to an entity who had nothing to do with the hard work they did themselves. Not to mention...you're breaking the 11th commandment: Keep Thy Religion to Thy Self.

Joseph 10fingers 6Strings Richetti well you completely missed the point of the joke. He’s 75 but has lived an extremely rough life with accidents, touring, and legendary drug use. Most of his contemporaries that partied that hard died long ago, so ya I guess your right social media does attract all walks of stupid. But I did type this out slowly so you might get it! The point is he’s an iron man nothing can kill him. Not that he’s 100 years old

Great SPF Brad. On the topic of the "Curse of the Creative" as someone once called it in a conversation we had, in everything that we do and create, there is always that critical perspective that lingers in the back of the mind, "it could have been better," but as someone once told me, they believed that is a skewed view from creator knowing the limitations in their ability, what could have been done differently if they were able, what may have been better. It's difficult to accurately determine what and if done differently may have actually been better though. Funnily enough I found a load of old recordings from a few years ago I used to do whenever I picked up the guitar and had the same experience you mentioned, "wow that was a cool idea, but most of it crap," or "what was I thinking," eventually I stopped recording, at one point stopped playing for months, until I met and made some great friends that got me playing again, sometimes out of my comfort zone and forced me out of the loop of playing the same thing over and over again.
Now I got asked by one of those friends to play with them and when I heard what they had in mind, I had that excitement that got me playing guitar in the first place.
Also when you mentioned Danny Gatton, I immediatly thought of Roy Buchannan, same thing. Even Rory Gallagher was reportedly a heavy drinker, so I do believe strongly in the "Curse of the Creative."

You nailed the concept of The Muse. I remember an article in Rolling Stone magazine that was talking about Bob Seger. In an interview he was asked why he hadn't written anything new since Like a Rock. And he said, and I am paraphrasing, "the creative force has left me. I am going through the equivalent of writers block. I have no inspiration and no ideas. It will come to me, but as of late it has not." And this is a guy who gave us Turn the Page, Main Street, Night Moves and so many other masterpieces. That would be like a Fireman who can't fight fires, or a lawyer who can't argue or a doctor who can't heal. The creative force that musicians rely on is their whole being.

I've felt that muse sense before and wished I had recorded what I played, then heard someone else play it later. Makes me wonder if it's out there for us to pick up on and do something with it, and if we don't, it goes on to someone else.

Hey, in regards to that story about Brian May - from what I heard earlier today, that photographer had been following him through the airport and such and so by the time they get to the point where Brian goes off on the guy the guy had had plenty of picture and video garnering opportunities. He was just being an ass and was being very annoying. I also heard that a few times he was like right up in Brian's face and inside his personal space. How many darn pictures and video clips do you need of a rock star just going through a damn airport? These damn journalists will hound and hound and hound celebrities but when it comes to important matters, such as questioning a former US Vice president about his forcing a foreign nation to fire their State attorney and then his getting his no good son a job in a type of business he knows nothing about and being paid $50,000 - 80,000 per month!! I'm 49 years old and I started playing guitar at 43. As a new beginner I can definitely say that I put everything I play under a microscope. I learn a song and I'm embarrassed at how I play it before I even finish learning it. It's like being naked and sharing your most private and vulnerable inner-self. Each song I record, there's a note or two that make me feel mortified. It's traumatic. Then I get depressed and despair kicks in. Then, I accidentally play something I like, I become manic again, only to hate it the next day. It's torture.

I spent the better part of 20 years feeling that way about my music...But I realized it was my own self-conscience that was holding me back from being myself. You have to find yourself before you can be comfortable with who you are. I almost died back in October (literally), and after that medical ordeal, and getting healthy again, I have achieved personal growth and less fear to expose myself and my honesty about how I feel about people, things, life in general, etc... Including my guitar playing. Granted, I still feel my music and playing sucks, but I still upload it to RUclips because maybe somebody more talented than myself might hear it, and think, "I'm better than that dude, and he's not afraid to put his music out there on the internet..." and maybe it inspired them to do the same, get recognized, make a career doing something they love doing.
Sorry for the long response, just wanted to say, life is too damn short to always be scared of what other people think. And while I get a lot of thumbs-downs from jackasses on the internet who THINK they're better than me (they might be, but I don't see them putting themselves out there on the internet). I still KNOW my playing is the absolute furthest thing from professional level or quality, but I'm going to keep doing it, because it makes me happy. 👍🏻

j freed : I’ve smoked pot off and on for about 50 years.
I can take it or leave it.
There’s little pot stores in town and you can get indica, sativa, or hybrids.
The sativa is a more energetic, creative high.
I hadn’t smoked any for quite awhile and when I did smoke some sativa, it was fun and sparked creativity in my playing. Very enjoyable!
When only illegal pot was available, it was always indica because it flowers as soon as you “knock it back” (meaning give it 12 hrs. of uninterrupted darkness), often has a shorter flowering time, and produces greater yield. Sativa just wasn’t profitable enough. Now we’re seeing it again.
Cannabis is not in the same league as alcohol, tobacco, opiates, cocaine, and meth. It can make some people lazy and unfocused but on others it can have the complete opposite effect.
The one good thing Trudeau did was legalizing it.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Evan Twitty's family. Your talk about this throughout the video gave a chance to ponder death in a different way. I lost my Wife almost two years ago, and two years on I can sit an reflect on a pretty great life with her, but life does go on. Last year I bought a bass, and then at Christmas a guitar. They aren't Custom anything they are both Hagstrom because the closest music shop to my town is over an hour away and he carries Hagstrom as one of his intermediate brands. What they do though is give me a chance while I'm learning, to interact with people on Facebook and on RUclips and begin to live again, and it encourages me to play more and go out and listen to local bands when they come through town. Thanks to you and the way you react and your take on things. It's nice to know we're all pretty similar deep down. For hours i would practice just playing tying to turn off the brain and only play , how could i put this like , when you walk you don't think about it you just do . Then your feeling guides your steps . I found my self having levitation feeling at least 3 times , you literally feel like you are getting pulled up . I still play 25 years later , i make videos from time to time trying to reproduce and recognize when it happens , its not always technically the best take , its about Mojo . First i came here for the repairs , but in this age you don't hang with people unless they are strangers and make videos ;) .
