Damn besides having my dream car, the coolest part of owning a wrx would be moments like 6:58, finding random enthusiasts on the road and knowing "yeah they are checking out my car!"
This was the first video that I watched by David, about a year ago. Now here I am looking for my first wrx, trying to find a virgin, and I'm back to this video.
@@kadenbihn3603 Currently in a 2020 Civic SI with snow tires on it :-) The WRX never happened, just the way things went, I always wanted one and still would love one but they suck gas and you can dump a ton of money into a WRX and that's money I'm not willing to spend. If you are going WRX for AWD because of the winter conditions specifically , just to get around good snow tires will get you most places in a FWD car, of course a WRX would be more fun and capable in the snow. what kind of budget are you working with?
@@RyGuyTheAVGuy I’m going for a WRX because it’s a quick, safe, fun car that happens to be good In the snow :D I was planning to get a 350Z but they’re not as fast, not as good In the snow, and have sky rocketed past my budget. I have about $7K in cash and am going to look at a WRC blue blob eye today
after buying my first subie I became addicted. I smashed 2001 gt then bought a blobeye wrx with a sti head and bigger turbo, ever since then I've been beating most guys around cape town south africa. subies are awesome!
That's awesome, the sound of a BOV gives you instagrin!! Lol, you are forced to smile! Also, don't you love the way a Subaru uses all it's power from what seems like the center of the car thanks to the AWD!? It's truly unique and has a totally different take off sensation than a RWD or FWD car. Great video David!
XG0WNLUK3X don't know about the reliable part. Most of these old ones have been modded to oblivian and beat half to death. In debating between this and ls1 trans am or camaro. Choices choices lol
Hey Stuart, I'm thinking of buying a 2005 wrx but I'm nervous about it being reliable.. People say gearbox probs or engine bottom end probs... What do you think? You sound like you understand these wrx!! Please give me advice.. Thanks mate.
Just bought a 2004 WRX last week and I love it. My only complaint is that there's SO much in the way of aftermarket parts that I've already got over 5k in parts lined up waiting to be bought. Such a fun car.
ShakeN Bake I got mine for $8500, it has 128k on the odometer and was owned by a 66 year old man, he took insanely good care of it. It has every single receipt and the service records are all there. Nobody had ever sat in the rear seats. He bought it brand new in 2003 and I got it with two sets of floor mats and two sets of OEM alloys with high performance winter tires and summer tires. Considering all that I think I got a pretty good deal especially because I live in maine and all these cars are highly molested and are very sought after. It basically comes down to two things, do you care about only having FWD in the Mazda but with a much nicer interior, or would you rather have the AWD and be willing to live with a basic interior. Both cars are awesome and the aftermarket support is HUGE for them. Good luck with your search and I hope you find a well maintained example of either car.
I have a "Type UK" WRX STI "Prodrive" which is totally stock. I'm tempted to make a few minor tweaks but I quite like the idea of keeping it as is. My one has only 50k on the clock partly because it was in 'dry dock' for ten years up until last January so it looks virtually brand new. 315whp is plenty for me as a daily driver on UK roads that are literally bristling with "tax traps" (speed cameras) ...and as you so rightly said: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ;-) Thumbs up.
I got the chance to drive a 2010 WRX wagon. Cobb access, intake and exhaust. 17psi...My First Subaru drive. Man it felt "heavy" compared to my Saab 9-5 but man that thing Moves Out.

Is the SRS exhaust worth the money? Or should I just save the extra $300 for the Invidia N1? I honestly want the SRS, and if it's worth the money, I'll go for that instead of the Invidia N1.
Why do people tune their cars with good parts and then put shitty tires on it? Nexen? C'mon man.... It's the only contact between the car and the road, at least get some good tires....
Guy at work says he's gonna sell his 05 wrx very soon since he's moving it has 135k bone stock daily drives to work. What's a fair price to offer. I believe he said at one point he'd ask 8grand for it.
+MultiCrustytheclown to be honest I think he'll take 7k because he's leaving out west and needs the money. He said he'll let me know by January. Anything wrong this year wrx that I should worry about?
Ronnie Santo I looked for a long time and got really lucky. I found an 05 STI that's really clean, few nice bolt ons, including accessport, for 13g. The motor just had been gone through as well. Timing belt, head gaskets, necessary stuff. Just keep looking, you'll find what you want

This might be over the top but I've been watching your videos for a while now David and I have not once heard you heal toe (double clutch ) downshift example min 6:52 is that because you prefer not to? Or what's the case? I personally wouldn't down shift without heel towing especially at higher speeds in my car, seeing how that's stressing my engine/transmission even more.

my friend has one. It currently has about 296000 miles and nearly dead. The car seem to be treated poorly. If it was maintained better it could have easily get over 300000 miles. The car is reliable but certainly not fast stock. It has potential though and seems like to be an alright car.
Deleano Francis well where I live a clean is300 cost around 5000 and a early 2000's subaru cost around 10,000. If you find a cheap subaru it's probably cheap for a reason. I would go for a is300 because of its reliability and way closer to your budget.
Deleano Francis With only $4000, you might as well get a RSX Type S. Much more reliable and TONS of upgrade options. But if you need a 4 door, I would save up for a clean IS300, Straight 6, more luxurious and comfortable.
I want to make the Sultan RS out of this car. The exhaust/engine already exactly like it. Just gotta somehow cut a IS 300 in half, make it 2 door, body kit (flares), and put it on this car.
ThatDudeinBlue Im currently looking for an 05 WRX, thing is they all have very high mileage. What do you recommend I do besides the more practical answer "buy a newer car".
I recently bought my 2005 WRX with 120K~ miles. You're really not going to find one with lower miles and an average price. These cars will last you a long time. Can last you 200K with no problems if you take care of it. I've seen guys with nearly 300K miles going strong. I had to replace my turbo and if average maintenance to my WRX. Because the guy that previously owned it was an idiot. It's still pretty reliable too. I wouldn't modify these that much if you want your car to last long. If you find one of these for under 130K and was owned by someone that took care of it, I say go for it. But be careful. If you're young, I'd go with a 2.5rs and do a swap. Because the 2.5rs is way cheaper and a lot of old grannies drove them. They're really reliable. Just don't be quick and impulsive when buying one, and you'll be okay! Good luck to you, dude!
SirRockoRARE I dont really plan on modifying it. I want a naked trunk sooo no wing, going to change the clutch, timing belt, tires, etc. I want this car to last me some time. I feel its better than going straight for the STi due to my driving experience/time (still a young driver). Believe me I know an 2.0L ej20t engine is still packing a punch lol but when comparing it to an STi still a big difference. My uncle is also a mechanic so he and I are going to work on it.
Im Nekkid Dude, that sounds awesome! Yeah, I can understand what you mean. I'm not too sure, but I think the WRXs come with the little wing like in this video. At least I think they do. Mine came with one. But wingless is an easy fix. And I get that. That's why I got the WRX. I'm only 19. Maybe once I graduate, i'll get an STI. Like me, I just want to add exhaust, intake, wheels, and coilovers. I DO want a fast car. But I want something reliable and practical. Lol. I think you'll like the WRX. You just have to be patient, man. I waited a year and some months to find a decent one. Lol, waiting sucks. But I know you'll find something good!
SirRockoRARE I totally agree, and I was thinking coilovers as well but I know i'm going to be tempted to slam it haha. New York would be hell for me with a lowered car. Do you think I should remove the little wing or just get a new sleek trunk all around?
Im Nekkid Haha, same here. I live in Tennessee and there's a lot of potholes and bumps in the road. And honestly, I don't know. I was wondering the same thing. But it seems like it'd be better to just buy another one. So that way, you can have the new one and old one, or sale the old one. Or maybe even do a trade. I thought about removing my wing, but i'd have to find a way to deal with the holes in the trunk. Lol
i want my 2004 Subaru to sound like this, now i want a 3" turbo back exhaust, but i have heard it can overboost... do you think this will be a problem.
STi=Subaru Technica International. They made their older models of Subarus in two formats, regular, and STi. STi is based more on a sporty type feeling to the Subaru. You don't see a typical mom with 2 kids driving a built '05 WRX STi, so that's why Subaru has a spot for everyone. The families get the outback, forester and cross trek, while the car enthusiasts get the 22B, WRX, and Impreza usually. The difference between regular and STi is that the STi comes with a sort of minor turbo, the STi logo, and the classic STi wing. I'm pretty sure it has more modifications along to it.
Damn besides having my dream car, the coolest part of owning a wrx would be moments like 6:58, finding random enthusiasts on the road and knowing "yeah they are checking out my car!"

With a tune you will be fine. Have one on my 2004 with a Cobb tune and it runs perfect no overboosting
Im confused now, does the WRX comes with that headers sound and the turbocharged ? Or thats just the STi ?
Just picked one of these up!
Sounds ok. Wait till I upload my GC8
Forgive because I'm sure this has been asked before, what did you film this with?
Canon T3i.
Thank you!
