I love this series you all have going. It's like watching the Canadian version of Matt Farah, except you thrash cars on a track. Hope you all keep it going!
I own a champ ek hatch with a ls swap, prepping turbo for my 90s era style fmu experiment without hondata and see how it's like comparison. Very quiet and clean daily. I love nostalgia ol school mods.
Wow, 8500RPM in K24 means piston speeds higer than 9000RPM F20 (S2000), granted that K24 is not destroked. Amazing. Also, looks so much fun to drive, jealousy kicked in yo!
For Honda Civic lovers, Boosted Boiz YT channel has some really nice Honda Civics to see :) Those K24 engines are pretty damn good :) Cheers from Australia :)
I have my first track day coming up later this month and excited. You guys do a lot of track stuff, so a cool video(s) would be something showing people how to get into track driving? Like how to take the right line, a checklist of stuff to go your car before hand and anything else someone who doesn't do it might not think of before going. I'm sure I am not the only one who would enjoy this.
Calabogie Novice track day (ontario). Since it is a novice track day, they give you an instructor in the car. However going in with some knowledge on a track versus what I know from driving on a street would be cool.
oil change before. Maybe after depending on how many laps. put a hose clamp around the oil filter depending on car. what tires are you running? Have you done an autox event before?
A picture of that would be great. I tried to send you a youtube PM but there was no option on your page, so send me one please if you can and I'll give you my email to send the picture to.
Makes me feel dumb for selling my 98 DX Hatch with $8k mods. Street setup on this car is insanely good (with Eibach springs). It's amazing what that double wishbone can do when the suspension has some travel. No ABS and after 300,000km of redlining at every opportunity, I never got rear-ended or rear-ended anyone. With Hakkapeliitta snow tires, was able to take on an S6 in heavy snow (Audi also had snow tires ... one of my most epic encounter, the entire length of university st). What a Jem of a car, I miss it.
Hey guys! Would absolutely LOVE IT, if you did a track review/lap-time with a stock 8th gen Honda Civic Si FA5...not too many give love to the sedan body style (which I own, 2010), and I think it’s just so nice looking. The longer lines, as well as the different rear spoiler, are some of my favourite differences. Not that looks have any place in lap time discussions, so I’m really just interested in seeing how the sedan body does out on track, if it’s any different at all in chassis/handling dynamics, etc. Just hoping that you guys could shoot a review/lap of the above mentioned car, since it’s much harder to find reviews/laps/videos out there for the FA5, and you guys are the kings of ‘TEC! Always enjoy your VTEC-equipped videos, as well as the rest of your content. Fellow Canadian here (from Winnipeg), and am wanting to change my N/A motor into the same type of Frankenstein-build, with a K24 block and the head from my K20Z3. Want to rev to 9,000rpm, stay N/A, and basically have a four door daily S2000! Take care guys, and keep up the awesome content! :)
I wish I had an EK as a dedicated track/weekend car. Instead I have a K20 powered FA5. Clean, comfortable, fun, and reliable. It's my wife's and I only car for now. But this EK looks like it handles like a Go-Kart, haha. Nice build. Paint match the rest of the body panels, and swap out the wheels for something a little more bling-y, and you have a nice show car and track car. 80% there anyways. Love it!
If you are friends with mike gardner (races at same track?) have him on your show his exhaust tone and engine sound are top shelf. I joined him several years ago and thats actually how i found speed academy. Do you live stream ever?
My cars get an adjustable brake bias valve first thing.... imagine driving that in the wet..???!!! You need to be able to dial those rears back for conditions. As for the leader board.... track whatever your mom drives. serious. do it... It's RUclips gold.
This car needs an adjustable brake proportioning valve or the one he is using is from the drum brake setup. Either way the car is pretty well built i would use a different wing setup
Had to post this on the Civic Holiday, right? I think I mentioned this before, but if you can gather up a stock 8th gen Civic Si, Cobalt SS/SC (or SS Turbo), and a FWD 2ZZGE Toyota (Corolla/Matrix XRS, or Celica GT-S), and have a 3 way comparison, that would be cool. They're all great entry level track cars, and it would be interesting to see the actual difference between them, and showcase a variety of options to the track going public, and have your thoughts on where the cars strengths and weaknesses are. I know it's a tall order, but if you could pull it off, I think it would be an interesting comparison.
Scott Ryman -- I used to own an 07 Civic Si coupe and now a 01 Celica GT-S and can say from experience that the Celica feels more nimble and light on its feet. It's like 2,425Lb STOCK @ 180hp factory rating. Pretty much a solid weekend track toy with a few mods and gutted interior.
Awesome car, i'm impressed by the lap time. And that variety of cars in the 1:21 range are quite wide, that's really interesting to see a Model 3, a mustang and a miata all in the same times. Also, a gen 2 Scion TC is my daily, and I'm sad to see that last place on the leaderboard..not that it'll ever be a performance vehicle, but once I achieve all the mods I have planned, I need someone to take my 6 speed out there and set a better time :)
Speed Academy I’m most definitely not as I’m in Texas, but I’m the type of crazy that would drive that far. I’d like to visit Canada soon and would love to do a lapping day with y’all, so who knows, it could very well happen someday.
85. Holy shit. More than enough power to have fun and gets pretty high up there. What else does? I think is it the s2000 does maybe 9k? But damn thats cool
Is there a build thread or anymore info on this car? I'd love to see more! This is goals for my ek hatch. I'm trying to figure out the right stuff to put on it. Is this car street legal? Does he drive it to the track?
curious about the rear brake lock up, were the rear pads too aggressive? I recall a lot of people putting the cheapest pad you can get in the back instead of an aggressive compound when not having abs
Depends he may just switched brake prop valve or gone to a bigger caliper. In a civic on stock rear disks I would use a better pad for more grip its hard to feel much going on back there and some people love to trail brake to help rotate the car.
can you take kids in cars like this on tracks like this? id love to build one with my 5 yr old daughter. but would be no fun if she couldnt enjoy it with me!
My DD foci project has ppl turn heads and some laugh but.... I’m take the old Honda theory and I’m gut it bolt ons a good tune and some aero and run it hard af!
I love this series you all have going. It's like watching the Canadian version of Matt Farah, except you thrash cars on a track. Hope you all keep it going!
NA6 driver . But Dave can drive and knows what he is taking about.
Let's not compare these guys to that bafoon.
This is what I love the most about your channel guys, you can actually drive fast and you know a lot about car set up, unlike many other youtubers...
Love the track cars. Love to see more cars on the leaderboard.
Yes yes yes. I'd like this so much, watched it twice.
Loved this! More self built racecars please.
That sound is epic!
Ahhhh, I love the smell of ripped tec in the morning! Smells like victory! Lol! Great job fellas, and that EK looks fun! 🚗💨💨💨
First car was a '97 EK hatch - the "hnnnnnnn" is real on this one.
This is essentially the plan for a EK build, def a handful but you can't even complain. Awesome build!
just a ridiculously sweet car. looks like an absolute handful. 👍👍
supercarmio Haha nice to see you here bud! Ready for the next vid!
haha small world!! Should be up on wednesday ;)
I own a champ ek hatch with a ls swap, prepping turbo for my 90s era style fmu experiment without hondata and see how it's like comparison. Very quiet and clean daily. I love nostalgia ol school mods.
Dude dont cheap out on the most important part of the build. Get crome at least and have someone tune it. FMU is a joke and will only break on you.
Lol
I can’t imagine a more fun car than a k swapped hatch. Some day before the oil barons have dripped dry I will build a k swapped eg.
Wow, 8500RPM in K24 means piston speeds higer than 9000RPM F20 (S2000), granted that K24 is not destroked. Amazing.

S2000 block H22 head K20 piston

Much faster. I don't wanna do the math but it would be the equivalent of a f20c revving up to around 10500-11000 rpm
D17a1 intake manifold and Earth Dreams throttle body.
For Honda Civic lovers, Boosted Boiz YT channel has some really nice Honda Civics to see :) Those K24 engines are pretty damn good :) Cheers from Australia :)
Thanks!
Stay safe out there
So many goodie’s on that little Ek hatch! What a beauty and definitely a little ripper.👍🏽
More content like this with different friends and colleagues track cars. This was awesome.
I wish this car was fully setup, I hope you guys have a comeback video with this car once it's sorted.
Look up Robert breaker

Jensen MacDonald Who is hosting the track day? Is it autocross or an actual track? I may be able to help ya if you have questions
Calabogie Novice track day (ontario). Since it is a novice track day, they give you an instructor in the car. However going in with some knowledge on a track versus what I know from driving on a street would be cool.
Jensen MacDonald Hello, I have a list of items I take & some side notes of tires temps etc. I’ll send pic to u if u’d like?

Nothing better then racecars. Build them daily 💪🏻

The channel is about to hit that 200k milestone I see. 👍 👍 🏅
proportioning valve/ brake bias valve ftw! although a less aggressive rear pad sounds like the easiest approach
very nice. love seeing ek's rip it. i still got mine too. turbo h22. i think i'll pull it out for a drive
Such a beautiful sounding car! Love Hondas! Great video, gents!
More racecars!
Lets get that Audi out!!
Speed Academy working on it right now. Need about 3 weeks. It's a whole new car!
Email me when you're ready, it would be an absolute blast to test this car!
Just don't drive holding the center of the steering wheel w/ one hand like you did at Sebring. Or bring some gumtape and challenge Dave proper.
Car is crazy! Great build!!

Keep driving more k swaps and I’ll keep watching! Nice vid as always 👌
Very nice, thanks for bringing me back to my youth.
Damn, saw him and his friends there for open lapping today! Cool to see it featured in one of your vids
Beautiful sound. Always a treat to watch you drive around a racetrack! Really missed this videos.
PS: what's up with those Type R decals? Lol

could very well be the competition if you do time attack. 😀
yessssss these videos are gold.
More self-built race cars! It's inspirational
I somehow got super lucky and found this exact Volk Racing shirt at goodwill. New favorite shirt 👌
That K24 sounds beautiful!!! 😍💯👍
Love you guys for amazing content, you guys are my favorite RUclipsrs. Keep it up! Looking forward to some merch.
K-Swapped Miata!
your footwork is siiiiick

Love it! Superb EK
Sweet ride, what you running under there! Such a fun looking car though, sounds epic.
Nice driving!!! And sweet hatch 🔥
Great video you guys, ripping tec and simply explanation of the car.
im not a honda fan but this civic is AMAZING
I love Hondas but also Toyotas and Nissans. So any more of those on the leaderboards would be great. 3rd or 4th Gen Supra or MR2s would be fun to see.
That Civic is epic, looks like a fun machine to rip!
Are you guys coming to WTAC this year? (I'm going to keep asking this every year, btw).
This EK is
Beautiful build

Like that read custom spoiler
Corvette z06 u feel would be a good benchmark so we could now truly how fast these cars are
1 million subscribers With out any videos This car would eat it alive
Lane Browning The stock C6 Z06 was about 2 sec/lap faster than this.
the k24 torque in the hatch has to be the best part. i need that in my em1
Damn that setup rips!
Badass. Love my k20. Hope i can be a big boy someday. Prolly a brake biased issue.
Imo for course training or simply mountain driving. 200-300 hp is perfect setup.
Wish you guys were closer. Would love to see what the J32 swap Civic would do there. :D
Wonderful vid.
Now, to get my '98 EK9 to be a mirror copy...
Where is the leaderboard at?
Throw it up on your site.
berubeprime thanks!
that's a cool leaderboard
A budget build that is fun to drive
Man that thing sounds nuts
They should already come with proportioning valves for the front to rear brake line adjustment so that you may balance the lock up in the rear
Give it some beans man!
More of this please!
I love this car
Ep3! Love my ep3 would love to see some great content on a ep3!
Sugoi. ALSO PT and MASTA D aka dad No.1 drive award.
Stockish and tuned Acura TSX please! Keep it up!
We Need a mid 80's 308 Ferrari K24!!!...C'MON!!!
“It’s you host KILLER KEEMSTAR”
Makes me want to build a ek track car now too =)
I'd love to see a boosted track S2K on here. Supercharger FTW!
Nice!!!!! Did you guys give up on the frs chassis?
What kind of exhaust did this have? Sounded really good without the ricer drone
Awesome k ek
Very nice!

Ripping tec!
Please try a modified elise
And on the eighth day, he ripped some tec
yea the k motors are great. got to rip on my friends 9th gen si running around 400whp
400 turbo hp is completely different than 280 all motor
Awesome little car I think it could use some slicks
curious about the rear brake lock up, were the rear pads too aggressive? I recall a lot of people putting the cheapest pad you can get in the back instead of an aggressive compound when not having abs
aw614 +1

Great ride. Who tuned the engine setup?
Nice shifterbox
Only the best!

voting for mooses M3 for the next track battle =)
The answer is always Moar Moose!!
I wanna see it race a 600whp 6th gen fully build accord 4dr
What kinda fender job did he do, looks fire cuz I wanna do it 😝
My DD foci project has ppl turn heads and some laugh but.... I’m take the old Honda theory and I’m gut it bolt ons a good tune and some aero and run it hard af!
hey I saw the badass2000 in the back. How does the F22 goes ? Also seems like a damn good EK there.
