Even the FT-1 has it limitations for an adapter. Only the center point for focus for AF-S and a handful of third-party lenses. Not a problem for my style of shooting. Shooting manual is not a problem for me either. It really comes down to what is your preference and shooting style. Bashing these adapters is nonsense. They work and that's what really matters. I use Fotodiox products and especially like the grip adapter for the V1.
Y'all might want to mention that Nikon is notorious for disabling the meter on any adapted lenses.
yes its.......... could a could Held Light meter
Yeah unfortunately most younger photographers are also notorious not understanding the sunny 16 rule or even understanding what a light meter is
hi very useful video ,i got some doubts
1)can i use my m42 lenses on 1v in aperture priority mode
2)can i use auto iso in A mode with manual lens
3)can i use high fps for manual lens
please clarify
thank you in advance
+shiva kumar Hi Shiva, With a Nikon 1-Series camera, you will need to make sure the camera is in 'Manual' exposure or shooting mode and the focus selection is also set to manual. When in any other mode the camera tries to take control of the lens which is not possible as the adapter does not have any contact with the camera circuitry, so you get the lens check warning as the camera does not think there is a lens attached. This means you won't be able to use those other modes. You should be able to shoot in high fps though.
I have some tamron and sigma lenses I use with my Nikon D90. Can they be used with the adapter to my Nikon 1V2? If so, will there be limitations of what I can do such as autofocus and metering?
If those lenses have Nikon mounts you can use our Nikon to Nikon 1 adapter. Here's the link: fotodioxpro.com/products/nikg-n1
You wont be able to auto focus, and I'm not sure if metering will work or not. I know it doesn't work on the Nikon 1 V1 when you use an adapted lens, but it may work on the V2?
Hummmm, just picked up a J1 today.. I may have to invest in an adapter. How is the metering?
Hi JT Fuller, the Nikon J1 is unable to meter when using adapted lenses, so you'll have to shoot in manual mode and guess the metering.
Thanks for the info!
Glad to help!
i have the Olympus 50MM 1.8 it has the fang like shields on the back, ive seen the picture ya'll posted on B&H saying if the lens has shield it most like wont fit. Theoreticaly if i file down the shields would the lens fit the adapter for Nikon F mount. Thanks Much guys!!
Hi Christopher, yes, if you file those down they won't bump into the mirror of your Nikon camera and you'll be able to use it. Just remember that filing those bits down makes the lens useless for using with its originally intended film camera.
I have a Pentax 645 Medium format lens. FA 645 45-85mm F4.5. What adapter would I need to put this on a Nikon 1 J4?
Love this video. I have a Nikon 1 J1 and I'm thinking of purchasing Sigma EX DG Aspherical Macro 28mm F/1.8ASP EX DG Lens. Can you tell me the best adapter to purchase for this?
+Alex Manigat You're going to want this adapter: www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-Nikon-DX-Type-Mirrorless/dp/B006NPYUSY/ref=sr_1_24?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1463410095&sr=1-24&keywords=fotodiox+nikon+to+nikon+1
Hi, great video... Please what is the name of the metal hand grip on the Nikon v1 you reviewed?... Thanks

Hi Da'ara, it was a grip we used to sell for the Nikon v1. Unfortunately we don't sell it anymore and it's out of stock.

can you use the autofocus if you're using fotodiox adapters for j5? i'm looking for cheap adapters because ft.1 nikon is so expensive.
Hi Anastasia, unfortunately not. All of our Nikon 1 adapters are fully manual, which means you'll have to control the focus and aperture of your adapted lenses manually.
Can this be useful for Nikon 1 J5 mirrorless camera?Which are he lenses which could be used with this mount?
Yes, our Nikon 1 adapters will allow you to mount various lenses on the Nikon 1 J5 cameras. Here are all the adapters: www.fotodioxpro.com/collections/lens-mount-adapters/nikon-1
Hello, I would like to use my nikon n1 j1 and my makinon mc zoom 1; 4.5 f80-200mm, what adapters from fotodiox do I need?
jaime morales Hi jaime, Makinon lenses were made for multiple types of lens mounts, so I can't tell you for sure which adapter you'd need. Can you check on the lens to see if the type of mount is written on it somewhere? It could be an MD mount, a Pentax K mount, an FD mount or something else.
can you manual focus with the nikon lenses ? on the j1
Yes, the adapters have manual focus control rings built into them.
I have a doubt about this adapter. My question is if this adapter let me to change the aperture priority. A friend of mine has the same camera and he bought a very cheap adapter of nikon g lenses in a chinese website but he cant use the aperture priority, he only can change the speed of obturation and the ISO. Id like to know about this question because i want to buy an adapter to use my sister lenses, but its a problem if you cant use the aperture priority. Could you give me some information about this question? Thank you very much.
Hi Pablo, because the adapter has no communication pins you won't be able to control the aperture electronically--so you'll have to shoot in manual mode. This adapter will allow you to control the aperture manually though: www.fotodioxpro.com/products/nikg-n1
How come when I put the adaptor on the camera body says the camera lens isn't on? How can I fix it
yeah how do you fix it?
Yeah, i have the same problem. Did i buy this for nothing? I am doing everything right and it still says the lens in not on.
Manual focus lenses only photograph and work in manual exposure mode this camera does not have a disabled for all you can only use manual exposure
what lens adapter is applicable for nikon aw1?
Hi Maria,
The Nikon AW1 has the same mount as other Nikon 1 cameras, so all of our Nikon 1 adapters will work fine with it. Please note though that by using our adapters your AW1's sensor will no longer be waterproof.
I am aware of that. Thank you for your reply. Im interested in buying one of your adapters from Amazon com.
Hey, trying to use my Nikon 1 J3 for astrophotography attached to a telescope ( This is, using only the body and a T adapter for the telescope ) . What is the best adapter so I can use all the functions on the camera ?

How to focus with canon ef lenses ? I have a EOS to N1 adapter but I'm not able to focus with the ring
Some newer Canon EF lenses, the STM models, do not have manual focusing rings, and instead have electronic focusing rings that only work when getting an electric signal from a camera. These Canon lenses won't be able to focus on a manual adapter.

good night! Is there any adapter that can use nikon j2 lens on a nikon dlsr d700?

Hi! sorry for commenting on tis video but I need some help. I have a Nikon fm2 camera and I would like to use my bronica etr lenses. Can I use your pro adapter for bronica etr to nikon f? or It would break my camera beacuse of the indexation mechanism?
It should fit and work fine. What do you mean by indexation mechanism?
@@FotodioxInc I am sorry I didn't know how to explain myself and used the wrong words.
Nikon calls it the "Meter coupling level", it is the part that moves when you put the lenses on and that doesn't allow you to use pre-AI lenses that haven't been modified yet. This is what the manual says:
"Although almost all Nikkor lenses that have the Nikon F bayonet mount, as well as
the Nikon Series E lenses, can be mounted on the FM2, the FM2 cannot be used
with Nikkor lenses that have not yet been modified to offer the AI facility and with a
few special-purpose lenses because the FM2's meter coupling ridge is fixed, and
the FM2 does not have a mirror lock-up mechanism."
That is what I was wondering if the adaptor can be use, or if there is a risk that it could not work or break the camera, because everybody says you have to be very careful with this camera and there are lots os limitation with the mount system.
Thank you for your time and sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, you'll just need a Nikon to Nikon 1 adapter. Here's the link: www.fotodioxpro.com/products/nikg-n1
Well those pictures are not selling to me that robin is way off focus :-(
Hi Tony, one of the downsides of adapting Canon lenses to the Nikon 1 is that you lose aperture control and the lens locks its aperture all the way open. This means you'll always be shooting with fairly shallow depth of field, which won't make for the sharpest images. If you want a sharper image I'd recommend adapting a Nikon or other lens with manual aperture control to your Nikon 1.
+Fotodiox Inc then it's not realy a selling point to be realistic. 😭
Depends on your photography style. Here's a hack you can do to lock a Canon lens at a narrower aperture to get sharper focus when adapting it: ruclips.net/video/LKAZ7HdKpm0/видео.html

Hi Lorena, the Panasonic VW-W4307H wide conversion lens is not a standard camera lens. Do you have an adapter or is it even possible to mount my Canon ef mount lenses to my Nikon D600? Thanks for any feedback
Hi justinspirational, unfortunately we don't offer a Canon lens to Nikon camera body adapter. The main reason why is that the length between Nikon's mount and sensor is longer than the length between Canon's mount and sensor, so even if you did mount a Canon lens on a Nikon body, you wouldn't be able to focus to infinity.
Fotodiox Inc thanks though for the Canon EF lens I wanted to use on Nikon I will never need to focus to infinity.. only around 8 feet away for portraits.. You know if any adapter that works that way regardless of whether it focused to infinity or not? Thanks
I'm no sure any companies make a Canon to Nikon adapter. You probably would be limited to only focusing a few feet if that.
just found this to try- yet to hear back from the seller but it has some glass in this adapter which might adjust somehow for the flange difference and be able to focus to infinity though don't know if the image is degraded as a result but still might try it at that price.. www.ebay.com/itm/401485645085?ul_noapp=true

You should make it
Sadly, the Nikon 1 series was discontinued in 2018 and the current userbase isn't big enough to get manufacturers to invest in gadgets that won't sell in high numbers. Like metabones(or any of the FLR brands) didn't put in the time and money to make a speed booster for these cameras.

the ft1 adapter can use this lens in Nikon j2?
Hey Eduardo, okay, yes you can mount that lens on your Nikon 1. You'll just need our Nikon F & G to Nikon 1 adapter. Here's the link: www.fotodioxpro.com/products/nikg-n1
It will work on any Nikon 1 camera, regardless of the version.
Well, your video is very good, you are good at clearing up everything, however, the pictures are not sharp enough, maybe because of the Web compression but, they are not clear enough and maybe is because of that lens or the adapter, whatever! Many greetings from Germany!
That may be because Sean was pretty new to nature photography when he shot this 9 years ago :) But you're right, the HD compression is also contributing to the low quality of the images. Thanks for the note, great to hear from you!
How do you bypass the "lens not attached" error?
When adapting a lens to a Nikon 1 camera you'll need to make sure the camera is in 'Manual' exposure or shooting mode and the focus selection is also set to manual.
Thank you!
I only use Nikon my buddy uses a canon camera Nikon lensI find it odd to use both Nikon and canon I ewould only use Nikon lens and camera
It's because of the flange distance and why not nice to be able to use other lenses
i have a question can dslr lenses fix on slr cameras
It depends on what lens and what camera you have. What type of DSLR lens were you looking to mount and what kind of SLR are you using?
I have the Nikon 1 and I want to fit the sigma 30mm lens
What mount is the Sigma lens? What camera was it used on before?
I haven't used it it is new
It should say on the lens what mount it is. Once I know what mount the lens is for I can direct you to the correct adapter.
how much the adapter a nikon 35mm 1.8 lens
+sin car Are you asking about adapting a Nikon F or G mount lens to your Nikon 1? Here's the link: www.fotodioxpro.com/fotodiox-pro-nikon-g-lens-to-nikon-1-system-camera-lens-mount-adapter.html
what f or g the lens say that
+sin car This adapter works with both Nikon F and Nikon G lenses, pretty much all Nikon mount lenses.
Sir, what is the cost of nikon ji5
Hi Ramesh, the Nikon 1 J5 runs about $500 in the United States.
Sir, Thanks a lot, the price of nikon 1 v3?
Fantastic camera, good to use in yr daily snaps.
i have same adaptor with same lens but my pictures went black or underexpose after click
Hi mudasir, make sure that you're shooting in full manual mode and adjusting your shutter speed and ISO to center the light meter. That should help you get a correct exposure when shooting with an adapted lens.
@@FotodioxInc i am shooting in full manual mode! But i can find light meter!
What adapter are you using?
It is fotodox A1N1 for nikon lens
Okay, I did some digging and apparently early models of the Nikon 1 won't allow you to use the light meter when shooting with adapted lenses, so you'll have to either use an external light meter--like one you can download on a smartphone--or just use trial and error.
Ok I have a an old SLR 400mm cannon lens and i want to mount it on my new Nikon DSLR. help me find an adapter!!!
+Andrew W You'll want this one: www.fotodioxpro.com/fotodiox-lens-mount-adapter-canon-fd-lens-to-nikon-1-series-camera-adapter-fit-nikon-v1-j1-mirrorless-cameras-fits-original-fd-lens-and-new-fd-lenses.html
sorry it was for a Pentax SLR
Is it a Pentax lens on a Pentax SLR?
it has a screw bottom
Never mind i found one
Hi, my J2 viewfinder totally went dark , anyone have this problem?
We haven't run into this problem. Is it when you're using a lens adapter specifically, or just that it quit working?
Hey my nikon 1 s1 wont' read the lens with the adapter.
Hi Lone Stranger,
You will need to make sure the camera is in 'Manual' exposure or shooting mode and the focus selection is also set to manual. When in any other mode the camera tries to take control of the lens which is not possible as the adapter does not have any contact with the camera circuitry. Let me know if you have any other questions,
Thank you...
