I am not given to compliments I don't mean, but I absolutely totally appreciated your tutorial. First, the stitch you designed is wonderful, and second, your quiet, calm, systematic instructions are possibly the best. I followed you straight to the end, with only one exception. I put seven units on the first row instead of five. Then, after you had finished, I could do the remaining two units to test myself. I made one minor mistake, which I easily corrected, and now I am aware of it and will not forget it again. You are special. Thank you.

Thanks for another great tutorial. I have made soooo many of your pieces. Your tutorials are the BEST out there. This one was a little tricky and it took a little while to get the rhythm of what was going on but I did get it. I made it in silver and gold and it’s lovely. This pattern will be my latest obsession. I get so many compliments on your designs and everyone tells me I am so talented. The truth is I can follow your excellent videos. Thanks!!

G'Day My Wonderful Ray of Sunshine, Loving this stitch with it's many possibilities within it's own design and with what you can incorporate on it's surface. It has the same soft drape as Herringbone which gives it a lovely feel against the skin. Like the colours that you have used and I would imagine that even if you do it in one colour it would still have a gorgeous look about it. I have had a quick look at other sites and I think that Pondo stitch is just like peyote and Herringbone they are a universal pattern..... just like purl, plain and cable stitches in knitting.... every one seems to own those stitches. I would't worry about copy right....you are using a basic stitch pattern to do your own "fantastic" designs my Wonderful Master of the Beads so go forth and create and bead!!!!!! Short novel this week as I am including the "promised ode"....(not sure whether I should have posted on FB so I am doing it here as I think the lovely beaders on that site need to get to know me and my funny ways first before I start posting "Odes")......
We have already connected with our four elements.....air, water, fire and earth and they give us our place within the structure of the Universe. These elements makes us what we are .... our belonging and our relationship with in this realm. To complete our journey within this reality we need to to meld with a life form that also shares our world..... our fellow creatures. In this exercise (before we start) we need to seek and connect with our fellow creature.... be it bird, dog, tiger e.t.c, Sit comfortably and close your eyes and ask in your mind for your fellow being to come to you. It may be one or several. When you have the picture of the being in your mind then we will commence......
I have used an eagle as an example.... so just change it to your choice of creature and bond with their movements
Sit or lay some where comfortable and start to breathe deeply and slowly.... you see with your mind your creature in front of you. Reach out to touch it (it will except you as it does not fear you as it has awaited for this moment in time for you to acknowledge it) Now feel with your energy and allow your life force to meld with theirs. Allow yourself to enter your creature. Still maintain your deep cleansing breathes. You now feel the movement of your host (if it's an eagle then feel its feathers wrap around you warmly and feel the lightness of your body as you join the eagle in flight. You feel every part of the physical being with the eagle. Now look through its eyes and see the power you now command and feel the freedom and magnificence of the earth beneath you. You soar and float on warm air thermals and you feel so at peace. You may stay with your eagle as long as you wish but you must ask it to do so. When you have landed gift your eagle with love and understanding as your way of thanks....doing so binds you together in an unbroken bond. Start to withdraw your hands and start to breath more normally and on awakening feel refreshed and in control of your emotions and feel the strength that your creature has given you. Now you have joined with all that is around you physically, emotionally and spiritually and therefore you have made a full circle with the universe. The relationship that you share with all that is there and beyond what you know to be there strengthens you but when you need your elements or your creature/s then connect and ask for their guidance and help. Always remember to give thanks and acknowledgment for their help.....that is all that they ask of you. And therefore ends the lessons but not the journey ..... journey in peace and be one with the Universe my Little Polar Bear......
As always I hope that it all makes sense........ from your scribe Down Under....... Blessings XXXXXOOOOOOOOXXXX

holly crap Stephanie, what a mess do I have in my head, ............ pondo stich, flat chenille stich, RAW............... getting mad with the pondo stichand what drives me crazy is .... how on earth the 4 principles beads (in some videos) stay quite together, I asked nicely the girl of the tutorial and had no response,
At the end I will do it my way and it will be pretty for me, ... I started again with macrame ........ I went back to my begining, I made a few nice handbags, but I got stuck in my last proyect ........ a bagpack......, and went back to the beads.
by the way the "star" you hold in your hand is really gorgeous, and I recently discovered the diamond duo ....... and I had some in my stash and didnt know.
will you make a tutorial, oh please Stephanie but not too complicated ........

The way I learned this was totally different. I learned just to make the base (main color A) with RAW, then add the B color between each of the main color ones, all in a round. Continue through to the side B color, add four more color A and so on. Much easier and less fiddly, IMO. No need to keep scooting the beads together.

Definitely had an Ah-ha moment by the end of the second row. Great demo, as always. Very fun stitch.
Did you ever figure out how to finish your pretty Diamond duo component so the holes aren't bare?

Okay Stephanie! I have completed the bracelet, and now I need to Know the best way to add a clasp. Help!

Hi Denise😃 I would suggest a multi strand clasp such as this one www.fusionbeads.com/Base-Metal-Tube-Bar-Clasp
You could also use loops and crystals. Hope this helps!

You can’t copyright a method, in other words how you do something. You can copyright the pattern that uses a stitch but not the stitch itself or how to do the stitch

I don't see how a common stitch can infringe on a copyright. That doesn't seem fair, unless that person created the stitch, ya know?

This stitch looks like 2 directional herringbone.

Thank you BTW, for going thru the trouble to figure this stitch out flat for us.

I can't take the credit for figuring it out Lorraine - I just searched around until I found Pondo Stitch and it looked very close to Flat Chenille.
The pattern for Flat Chenille is different but the results look the same to me. Thanks for your kind comment lol :)
