FISHERMEN ROUTE 🎣 · 9 VILA do BISPO - SAGRES

Vila do Bispo enriches our stay in the town with a visit to its beautiful Church of Our Lady of the Conception.
The light of dawn projects our shadows on the path as we head west in search of the coast. A geographical landmark that marks the highest coastal strip in the Algarve (156 m) by means of the Torre da Aspa, a landmark that once served as a watchtower.
We will look out over several cliffs to witness the overwhelming altitude and delight in the appearance of the outcrops and the solitary Praia do Telheiro.
Then, the rocky outcrop of Pedra da Gaivotas announces the proximity of Cape St. Vincent, although we had already seen the lighthouse located here from miles away. This light tower has much older origins, as does the fortress and convent complex to which it belongs.
We leave behind the southwestern tip of Portugal to head east and enjoy the next stretch of coastline, where the Forte de Santo Antonio de Belixe, whimsical rock formations and the famous Praia do Beliche, another of the countless surfing paradises in the Portuguese country, stand out.
Sagres welcomes us with adverse weather conditions, which prevent us from spending a well-deserved time in this historic town.

Es un lugar que sobrecoge con esos inquietantes acantilados. Hay que mantener un poco las distancias a la hora de asomarte. Estaba cerrada la visita al faro, así que nos quedamos con las ganas. La cerveza local, rica, rica 😋Gracias Sergio 🍻!
