This is easily the most positive portrayal of Max and Goofy’s relationship outside of television. Other movies would depict it in a more negative light.
Then again, even in the Goofy Movie sequel, Max wouldn't stoop so low as to physically disrespect his own parent in front of him... right, Turning Red?!?
It's a really nice wholesome movie. The animation is pretty good for a direct-to-video film, the three stories are heartwaring and fit very well together, the characters are very likeable and they all each learn a very important lesson about Christmas. The Scene where Mickey and Minnie sold their belongs for a harmonica case for each other and sacrificed their most cherished properties to makes the others feel happy and loved totally is a heartwaring moment and it goes to show how much they love each other.
Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas is truly one of the best Mickey and Christmas movies ever made. Way way better than it's inferior sequel Twice Upon A Christmas!

Even Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is better than Mickey’s twice upon a Christmas.
Mickey’s once upon a Christmas has always put a smile on my face whenever I revisit that movie on Christmas weekends. And I agree that it’s way better than it’s terrible sequel Mickey’s twice upon a Christmas.

In terms of the stories, I will say that the Donald story was the weakest for me, but it still did it's job well 👍
In terms of my favourite story, it is a *very* big toss-up between Goofy's and Mickey's, but both were very entertaining and heartwarming 😊

I freaking love Mickey’s once upon a Christmas it’s a huge part of my childhood and a tradition to watch this film during every Christmas time in my house and re-watching it it is every bit as good as when I first watched it when I was like three Mickey’s once upon a Christmas is a Christmas classic
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the computer animated sequel.
My favorite is the goofy segment
The Donald Duck segment feels like a cartoon Jack Hanna would direct in the late 1940s early 1950s
This movie was one of my Christmas staples in childhood and it still is to this very day. My favorite short is The Gift Of The Magi, simply cause I love Mickey and Minnie shorts and plus the meaning behind the whole story is so wholesome. I wish more people would learn from shorts like this.
Just an added note: I’ll admit I do have a guilty pleasure for Twice Upon A Christmas but I do see it’s not as good as the original. I usually just put it on if it’s on. But anytime Once Upon is on, I immediately watch. Excellent review on this Jambareeqi and I hope you had a wonderful holiday :)
Mickey’s once upon a Christmas is probably my favourite Mickey Mouse project alongside the prince and the pauper short and the sorcerers apprentice segment in fantasia you can definitely tell that this film was made with a lot of heart put into it they didn’t need to go all out with this film especially one that’s a straight to dvd Disney film they could’ve just gotten random Christmas related shorts from either the Mickey Mouse works or the house of mouse but they did want make this feel special it’s definitely one of the most underrated animated Christmas films ever!
If disney can make the movie groundhog day but with donald duck, then you too can make the hit adam sandler movie click with mickey mouse
Good Christmas movies are quite rare, and this is one of those bolts out of the blue. The stories are quite simple, but well done simplicity will always be more meaningful and profound than poorly done complexity. This movie is a holiday staple in my Christmas movie roster and I am more than happy more people are falling in love with its simplicity and humble charm.
This movies so nostalgic to me I used to watch this every Christmas morning when I was young
This was a childhood movie. We would watch this at night on a Christmas or Christmas Eve.

5:50 The ornament Goofy puts is a homage to Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas. The Mickey and Goofy segments were animated by the short lived Canadian division of Disney TV Animation which also animated Enchanted Christmas. They were amongst the first studios to get Toon Boom which was why their content tended to look better than most of the direct to video sequels at the time which still relied on Xerox technology ( very noticeable with Hunchback 2 done by the Japanese Disney studio which was in production at the time then its release delayed for years)

Once Upon a Christmas is really a great Christmas film, not Twice Upon a Christmas.

0:19 - I’ve never 👎 seen that Miracle On 34th Street. I saw 👀 it advertised online but before I could watch it myself, I saw Doug Walker’s Top 12 Christmas Specials 🎄 🔝 video which told me that there’s more than 1️⃣ Miracle On 34th Street. So I’ve only seen the original from 1947
In fiction, you can do more with fictional types of animals than you could with real types of animals, right?

Great movie review...dont ask me why i watching this in March. Im weird aha. Its just a nice wholesome, cheery movie.
Kinda get the aunt kisses things but I don't know that critcism you made just seemed a tad unnecessary really. Its showing the boys their aunt appreciate and loves her nephews. It was of its times I guess. I suppose as a Uncle myself I do ask my nephews and my cousins children (they call me Uncle my cousins children btw) first if I could have a kiss whereas I suppose the aunt doesn’t. Suppose I see two sides to this.
For the next episode you need to review Oppenheimer Christopher Nolan's brand new film I pick up and harm her over Barbie because Christopher Nolan has made an outstanding film most people would consider it as the best movie of 2023 it's cinema at its best.

Fun fact the firefighters playing in the gift of the magi segment here is a reference to the firehouse five plus two which was a jazz band consisting of Disney animators in the 1950s
7:46 I always thought they missed a trick here. They should have had Pete, the neighbour, pretend/dress up as Santa at the end. Would have really hit the message and show a redemption arch for Pete and then maybe at the end Pete gets an unexpected gift outside his front lawn so it leaves something for the kids Santa could be real. I dunno, thats my thought.

The animation in this special has kind of the same Feel as the Disney theatrical shorts from the late 40s early 50s because if you watch those cartoons you can similarities in the animation quality.
