Sariel, if you want to be a bit realistic about it, is as OP as anything can get. A Fallen Angel has so much power yet it seems to keep its holy aspect of itself rather than its sibling, Shinki who went to become the Goddess of Demons and Overlord of Makai. But, I'd love to see Sariel revive with Mima together, Touhou would explode via fan cries! XD

Honestly, I want to push bullet hell’s story and character presentation a lot more. With a revival of this character, she deserves that. And bloody purple hair Reimu too. It’s lacking even in Zun’s works. Show don’t tell is such a key rule. So I’d love to show ZUN how well I could compete with him haha. But that’s in the future, too busy with my current project for this. But once I’m done, I’ll finally have the time for it.

god this one just shows how much zun loves megaten, the designs look like something from smt. i'd love if this aesthetic made a comeback, and specially the music of this game which is somewhat eerie. not that i dislike flying loli bosses but this was just so cool. plus zun is god tier with fm synths
@@bluepikmin6363 well it's a bit of a theory of mine lol, but specially these pc98 era games have a bit of references to megaten games of the era. for example, touhou 5 stage 5 has very similar textures to lucifer's castle on smt2. also there's some quotes from devil summoner (the saturn one) when you beat the game.

At 1:26, the background images suggests that she was an enemy of the previous shrine owner, maybe she was sealed? At 3:20, the scenes suggests that she was sealed once again So the story of the game goes like this: Sariel, like her title "angel of death" says, was an archangel and was responsible of taking the sinners to hell. However, she started taking a liking to it, and created her own "hell" on Makai where she tortures people at her liking. People started suffering, and some people started to pray to be saved. The previus shrine maiden noticed this (which explain the name of the game "highly responsive to prayers), and fought sariel and sealed her inside the fallen shrine. After the shrine maiden died the seal became weaker, and Sariel, with her autority over dead, ordered Konngara to burn/destroy her shrine as a act of revenge. Reimu then beats Konngara, and apparently seals her, since the ending scenes of the Jigoku route shows that, and also somehow discovers where the real culprit is. Then, after beating some mini-bosses, she fight Sariel to seal her once again.

It helps if you read the final chapters of Wild and Horned hermit specifically how Kasen mentioned her oni arm being hidden at Hakurei Shrine and consuming someone there as well as looking at the memory bubbles Sariel draws from Reimu during their fight.
It is generally my experience, at least in terms of SMT, that killing an angel will generally lead to somewhere between misfortune and cataclysm. I do believe poor reimu here got the latter.
