Rules:
- This is a low level run of zombero's hardtype mod: www.romhacking...
- The aim is to keep XP gain as low as possible without affecting my sanity.
- Hard mode, obviously
- No stat boosting items
- All other game mechanics are fair game!
Hardtype changes:
- HP: 2500 → 20500
- Intoxicate now deals damage
Mada is probably the toughest Diet Building boss because you have to account for so many things. Muting the Pazuzus is the best way to deal with them as it stops them from healing while also placing a hard cap on the number he can summon (if there are 4 out, he won't be able to summon any more.) You need some physical and mind immunity for sure, and whatever death protection you can get to stop Arid Needle from killing you. I went with Unshaken Will for Yatagarasu as I didn't have Void Death yet, although in hindsight maybe I should've thrown Tetraja stones. Keeping a Debilitate stack on him is advisable too to keep him distracted with Dekunda.
Regarding the Pazuzus, the first one seems to be scripted now, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case before. Either way, this run was kind of stunning to me as he never summoned another one after the first round. I didn't get any useful skill morphs and used a LOT of Luster Candies but I decided to keep it anyway as this is basically unrepeatable.
As for Demi, in the end, I decided to go for Divine Shot after all. Void Elec was kind of out of reach without ingesting bad magatama on key fights, and Anti-Elec should suffice for Lucifer anyways.

Thank Satan for Luster Candies, cuz this fight seems like a nightmare without em.
Monke comes in at the end for a little extra XP so he'll evolve by the end of this dungeon.
I've played ahead of the uploads now, and I hafta say Magical Nuke Raven and monke are the MVPs of the latter portion of this run, pretty much every fight will contain at least one of them from here on.

Man, I remember this fight in vanilla. It took me a few tries to finally beat him. When I looked up his level, I was shocked to find it to be in the 80s! I had no idea if it was true, but once I finished the diet building and saw end game bosses levels, I can't say I've picked Nocturne back up with the amount of grinding I have to do...
P.S. Love the Persona 2 battle theme playing in recent videos.
Thanks! Well, Mada's level 83, but I don't think you'd expect to be that overlevelled yourself at this point. Late 60s/early 70s is more the standard for this point in the game.
this fight in vanilla wasn't hard for me really, and it would've been super easy if i had levelled up another level for pierce

Zombero added a lot of skills from newer games, but I think that he also should have added in Healing Knowhow if he could find a way do so. It offers a lot of flexibility to a team and takes some stress off of Demi-fiend. It kind of hurts seeing him relegated to item duty, although I suppose he didn’t expect players to farm this many Luster Candies.
Funnily enough there is a glitch in hardtype where muted demons can sometimes use items in battle, but I haven't been exploiting it as it doesn't appear to be intentional. Demi will still get plenty of chances to shine as an attacker later on though.

I think this is only Oberon #2, Momunofu/Arahabaki definitely has it beat. Probably Choronzon too earlier in the run, he was MVP til Asakusa
Mada's design never fails to impress me.
Mada is a go-to for me as either a demon or a persona. His design is fantastic.

zombero is a madman but this one definitely needed a big HP buff tbf, you could literally kill him in a couple of rounds in vanilla.
afaik he is scripted to summon pazuzus after half health in vanilla

He didn't summon a single Pazuzu in my most recent fight against him.
Then again, he also didn't use Intoxicate, so I'm guessing the AI went braindead that time.
@@tecul1you can mute or parahax the pazuzu so they will waste their turns and mada wont keep summoning more.

Has the Nocturne mute line always been "failed to cast spell"? I'm not sure I've ever actually seen a muted enemy in Nocturne so I just assumed it was like DDS, where it would say "Pazuzu's magic was sealed!"
I think so. A lot of things are phrased slightly differently between Nocturne and the DDS games, especially noticeable with passive skills. Different localisation teams I guess?

Isn't the final boss on the ps1 version of Innocent sin hard though?
@@spawnofchaos9422 I haven't actually played P2 yet but after the insanity of this and the DDS2 runs something a little easier to LL would be preferable
@@yuhzamorski3859 I don't know about the ps1 version,but the final boss did give me some trouble in the psp version(I was underleveled).But the bosses of eternal punishment can be really tough.I ragequitted the game at the 3rd boss fight,played Raidou vs the soulless army and SMT 3,went back to eternal punishment and I am still raging at this game sometimes,but at least I am nearing the end of the game.
@@JimReaperSaysUnsubscribe Persona 2 Innocent Sin is a very easy game,to the point that it is hard to die in it.It's still a great game,so I would definitively recommend playing it and if you plan on making a low level run,it would be great to see with what strategies you might come up with.(also Freikugel boy needs to take a break)

Mot's still a little weird with Beast Eye spam, unfortunately
He either spams it or doesn't, despite Zombero claiming to have altered that part of his AI

Why couldn't you use a Dekaja stone instead of Luster Candies? Are the former too hard to get?
I assume you mean Dekunda stone? Although unfortunately that's not how Dekunda works. It won't keep my stats at +2, it only clears negative buffs. If I buff everyone to +2 and he uses Debilitate to bring us down to +1, a Dekunda Stone will do nothing.

Can i ask why i see that people only increase strength and Vitality? i mean..the other ones aren't that useful?
It’s not that they aren’t useful (although agility and luck are pretty useless in vanilla, but this mod fixes that)
Rather in a LL run my hand is forced. I need max vit to tank a lot of lategame attacks, and I need 24 str to unlock the Gaea magatama. Not many points left over after that.

Why did you keep mute gaze on oberon instead of going for tornado?
Well I'm only using him once more for Mot and then he kinda expires so I wasn't thinking too hard about it. But Tornado was nerfed hard. All multi-hit spells were nerfed anyway but Tornado was reduced to mid level damage as well. 2 hits of Tornado in hardtype is less powerful than Zandyne

This run is clocking in at just over 100. Although that's not counting all the hours of planning and reruns for skill changes.
