I'd like to imagine the villians and monsters all rehersed this so their attacks can sync up with the song and a bunch of them have speakers playing music.
My understanding of the situation is that Queen Selene (based on the hidden video's cypher) has a habit of snatching up supernatural entities and containing them within her realm. Maybe they were looking for Void/Olive and that last portal was an attempt to pull her in?
I actually have a theory. During the song all the Dusks main goal seemed to be creating as much fear and terror as possible with the exception of the witch ghost lady, yellow eyes, and the Invincible Man knockoff. This leads me to believe that the Dusks feed off fear in order to fuel their existence with the stronger Dusks needing more as they get more powerful thus they need to be more evil and sadistic in order to survive while the weaker ones can get away with pulling what are essentially scary pranks and by extension have more leeway in what they’re moral alignment is. As for the whole thing that happened with Queen Selune I have a theory that that there is a barrier between our world and the realm of Nightenveil with the only way through being quote, unquote “small” breaches in the fabric of reality with the stronger Dusks needing bigger and bigger portals in order to make it through. Yet another benefit of being a weaker Dusk. Maybe the barrier is weaker the closer it is to Halloween like in other pieces of media because spooky month. Which essentially means Halloween is an all you can eat buffet for these freaks so no wonder they love it so much. Anyway I’m getting off topic. Maybe bringing Queen Selune though the breach is some kind of benchmark for these guys. Maybe every time they launch the annual All Hallows Eve Fear Raid the barrier weakens and finally pulling their queen through was supposed to usher in an age of eternal night where the whole world would be there play ground which is why Queen Selune was so surprised when the sun came up. This is just a theory though.
Everyone here is thinking up big lore reasons on what the villains were trying to do meanwhile I'm content with the idea of tony the scarecrow suggesting they all party it up in the human world for Halloween because something something crows machinations and everyone just went along with it

Same dude, I also wish we knew their names… But holy cow, they seem to get along with Void, so this does lead to the question… Did they fight her before, or are they just bring friendly? I’m leaning towards them just being friendly personally because they do show up with the line “that’s our job, but we’re not mean.” So perhaps they care for her in some way? I mean they do look kinda worried when compared to everyone else in the frame with the dusk queen. Albright everyone else in the frame is a sliding stone owl, the Jersey devil, siren head but phone head, another invisible man but with no facial distinction, and a dude that seems to be laughing about the whole situation. 2:40 if anyone wants to see what I’m talking about.

All of the villain designs are fantastic and I also love the quick cameo from the Boogeyman as the moon, a nice reference to Nightmare's Before Christmas

That train bridge seems important, considering that that’s where a big portal has repeatedly manifested. Additionally, I’m curious how many Dusks are native to Nightingveil versus how many are altered/converted entities (like with Tony). Also all these designs are really neat. Both the designs of the Dusks, and the Halloween costumes of the humans.
Love that croc lookin dude and the motorcycle riding guitar player guy! Though all the designs were super cool. (Also it took me a couple rewatches but I did notice the yellow eyed girl getting mighty nervous when Olive looked over at her. I wonder what that’s about)
I’ve been rewatching this multiple times and I’m still amazed at how well you conveyed the Dusks. They all look unique and their designs work together with the song to show how scary they are to face off against. I’d love to see more from them in the future and you did an excellent job with this animatic.
Ohohoho! This was awesome! I absolutely loved to see all of the Dusk villains in full swing! I really jived with that clown monster design, too. SO many amazing designs jam packed into one video!
Are they trick or treating at 7 am? Ether these rouges took forever to get into town or they’re fighting all night, just for dusk queen to show up before banishing all of them back to the dusk world. Great designs maybe not great minions if their goal was to summon a big bad right before the sun (which I’m assuming weakens or even kills the dusk creatures) which I’m assuming wasn’t dusk queen’s plan because she (I’m assuming from the queen part) seems caught off guard by dawn. Or maybe she’s playing around with Olive like Crow, although the hidden lore vids seem to imply Crow and Dusk Queen are very different. Rant over, really love your work so far.

Welcome to the yearly re-watch list. This is phenomenal work! I actually only just found your channel earlier this week so it was a delight to see this uploaded, it must have taken a lot of time and sanity so I hope you love the final product, I certainly do! Keep up the great work. :D
Out of everyone in this rogues gallery the two that caught my eye were the invisible one and neon colored eyed characters at 2:06 since for the most part they seemed friendly with Olive and actually seem afraid of the Dusk Queen, like at 2:40 you see them and their expressions are of fear. I can totally see these two being the chill/comedic relief villains that Olive can have a conversation with. Honestly all the dusk designs are pretty good, I really love this rogues gallery and I kinda want to see/learn more about them. Also side note I LOVE Olive’s expressions with her mask on.
HOT DAMN this was amazing as hell to see showing a very fast paced montage of 20+ of your characters with unique and incredible designs and powers just came together so perfectly into a very beautiful introduction to the antagonists of your incredibly amazing world

This was amazing! The whole animatic really carries the energy of the song well! And the monster designs are so fun. Also, my gay heart yearns to learn more about Queen Selene (Presuming she is the large lady with the moon on her face and i didnt pick the wrong name haha ) love her to bits.

May have inhuman strength because of its anatomy. 00:46 -"Rattrap": lure people to it with its polymorph tail to consume similar to a traps luring mice with cheese. 00:52: -"Mummy": Have abilities of a spider, undead physiology, can control spiders, and have a giant guardian spider pet. 00:57 -"Mafioso": Undead skeleton that can perform necromancy and have his own mob. 0:18 Is a good Gravity Fall reference. Each of those characters are “Dipper,” “Gruncle Stan,” and “Mable.” I used the quotes because they probably aren’t the same characters
Originally I thought the point was just causing chaos using the witching hour and the fact that during Halloween, the connection between the world of the living and the afterlive is blurred. But considering they all left, this musst have been more psychological in nature. So the raven man (Devil) maybe intends to recruit the Protagonist throw intimiation (this might work if this is before the boogie song with it being a reaction to her not giving in, but also if its after. Carrot and stick situation then). That would also fit with the end where they all gather, she is grabbed by the large one, and then the lyrics kick in "Everyone hail to the Pumpkin song". I know the lyrics are from the song, but the way you designed it I wonder if that was supposed to mean "everyone hails to the Raven man, no matter our agenda. That includes you. So stop resisting. Okay, now bye." Might be a stretch, but thats how I see it. Also, I like that raven man is now becoming the main antagonist here and that you tie it all together. With him being my favorite character and all. Edit: The villains are of course not aware of any of this. They are just having fun, curtesy of their boss. Its the raven man who has the agenda.
Ah yes Halloween the time of the year when you dress up and get all lot of candy and also trying to survive the shadow demon and their goddess ah yes gotta love Halloween!
I currently believe, until either stated otherwise or proven otherwise, that Crow is stronger than the full moon queen Selene, here is why: We have seen more of Crow, but that hardly matters most of the time, so what makes me believe this comes from the animation and description of 2 videos each. In the Devil Train video, we see Crow destroy the moon, and because her title is "full moon queen," it is safe to say that Crow doing that so casually, while also appearing on the moon in that same video, it is safe to assume they are at least relative. The other video where it is "Oh Raven" has the description where it talks about how who I assume is Olive's biological father is the last pawn of Crow's plan, it does not mention ANYTHING about Selene being a part of the plan yet, and also it does not make sense for Selene to try to use a human to spy on the human realm, while Crow seems like one to do that just for fun and to fuck with Olive emotionally while also going behind Selene's back for an easier fight, I said stronger, not how much stronger.

That train bridge seems important, considering that that’s where a big portal has repeatedly manifested. Additionally, I’m curious how many Dusks are native to Nightingveil versus how many are altered/converted entities (like with Tony).
Also all these designs are really neat. Both the designs of the Dusks, and the Halloween costumes of the humans.
Love that croc lookin dude and the motorcycle riding guitar player guy! Though all the designs were super cool. (Also it took me a couple rewatches but I did notice the yellow eyed girl getting mighty nervous when Olive looked over at her. I wonder what that’s about)

I’ve been rewatching this multiple times and I’m still amazed at how well you conveyed the Dusks. They all look unique and their designs work together with the song to show how scary they are to face off against. I’d love to see more from them in the future and you did an excellent job with this animatic.

Are they trick or treating at 7 am? Ether these rouges took forever to get into town or they’re fighting all night, just for dusk queen to show up before banishing all of them back to the dusk world. Great designs maybe not great minions if their goal was to summon a big bad right before the sun (which I’m assuming weakens or even kills the dusk creatures) which I’m assuming wasn’t dusk queen’s plan because she (I’m assuming from the queen part) seems caught off guard by dawn. Or maybe she’s playing around with Olive like Crow, although the hidden lore vids seem to imply Crow and Dusk Queen are very different. Rant over, really love your work so far.

Out of everyone in this rogues gallery the two that caught my eye were the invisible one and neon colored eyed characters at 2:06 since for the most part they seemed friendly with Olive and actually seem afraid of the Dusk Queen, like at 2:40 you see them and their expressions are of fear. I can totally see these two being the chill/comedic relief villains that Olive can have a conversation with. Honestly all the dusk designs are pretty good, I really love this rogues gallery and I kinda want to see/learn more about them. Also side note I LOVE Olive’s expressions with her mask on.

After watching this video, I can roughly guess their powers and make-up names since its easier to remember and I don't know their real names.
00:36 -"Graveyard": can summon phantoms of varying forms that may have different abilities depending on the phantom she summons.
00:38 -"Stilt Walker": Permanently have elongated limbs with 2 joints for farther reach and faster pace to capture people. May have inhuman strength because of its anatomy.
00:46 -"Rattrap": lure people to it with its polymorph tail to consume similar to a traps luring mice with cheese.
00:52: -"Mummy": Have abilities of a spider, undead physiology, can control spiders, and have a giant guardian spider pet.
00:57 -"Mafioso": Undead skeleton that can perform necromancy and have his own mob. Can't die from normal means.

Originally I thought the point was just causing chaos using the witching hour and the fact that during Halloween, the connection between the world of the living and the afterlive is blurred. But considering they all left, this musst have been more psychological in nature. So the raven man (Devil) maybe intends to recruit the Protagonist throw intimiation (this might work if this is before the boogie song with it being a reaction to her not giving in, but also if its after. Carrot and stick situation then). That would also fit with the end where they all gather, she is grabbed by the large one, and then the lyrics kick in "Everyone hail to the Pumpkin song". I know the lyrics are from the song, but the way you designed it I wonder if that was supposed to mean "everyone hails to the Raven man, no matter our agenda. That includes you. So stop resisting. Okay, now bye." Might be a stretch, but thats how I see it. Also, I like that raven man is now becoming the main antagonist here and that you tie it all together. With him being my favorite character and all.
Edit: The villains are of course not aware of any of this. They are just having fun, curtesy of their boss. Its the raven man who has the agenda.

I currently believe, until either stated otherwise or proven otherwise, that Crow is stronger than the full moon queen Selene, here is why:
We have seen more of Crow, but that hardly matters most of the time, so what makes me believe this comes from the animation and description of 2 videos each. In the Devil Train video, we see Crow destroy the moon, and because her title is "full moon queen," it is safe to say that Crow doing that so casually, while also appearing on the moon in that same video, it is safe to assume they are at least relative. The other video where it is "Oh Raven" has the description where it talks about how who I assume is Olive's biological father is the last pawn of Crow's plan, it does not mention ANYTHING about Selene being a part of the plan yet, and also it does not make sense for Selene to try to use a human to spy on the human realm, while Crow seems like one to do that just for fun and to fuck with Olive emotionally while also going behind Selene's back for an easier fight, I said stronger, not how much stronger.
The first panel gives me gravity falls vibes.
