Not only that but the main reason for his beef with Loid is that the relationship moved pretty fast as one second he believes Yor is still single and the next she’s married to a guy who has a child.

You get the impression that he's used to everyone misunderstanding his feelings for Yor, and never being thanked for his devotion yet ironically Twilight is the only one who truly gets him.

When Yuri is outside that controlled setting, he can’t even handle something as simple as dealing with an in-law without losing his cool. And that drives him nuts. On impulse, he tries to recreate the environment where he’s the authority that people need to answer to or else. In other words, a place where he’s in control. Because without all of that, he’s not much besides a raging little fascist twerp and that’s why he’s so good as the butt of the joke
I have this theory. What if Yuri witnessed the death of his parents and then realized that he no longer had any family except his sister. What if their parents were killed by a family friend? What if he's afraid Loid will do the same to his sister? Maybe that's why he cares about her so much. I know it's crazy, but it's possible.
