one China economy alone dominate EU and ASEAN combined. You may as well throw in Japan and S Korea, it doesn't even affect anything. China has evolved from global trade, to domestic market, to now everyone desperate to get into Chinese market.
The EU is also a military alliance. They have their combined command structure and have treaties that state all members must stand in solidarity against external threats.
Idk enough about ASEAN to say whether they are one or not though so you may be right about them.
BRICS is an alliance in name only. Their 2 most promising members (China and india) are at each others throats and would never fight alongside each other. South africa is a failed state at this point and Russia has lost most of its modern systems in ukraine and would thus easily get rolled by europe in the case of a war.
China has a capable military, but the terrain for the defending asean members favours them. And with the EU naval superiority they could easily blockade chinas economy and cause them to collapse.

Assuming the EU dosn't go nuclear there is really no way for any side to effectively force the other into submition pretty much forcing a stalemate

ASEAN will win if they :
1. Play Defensive
2. Play Embargo Card( also tell neighborhood country to embargo who same hatred, some consumer good price will inflate = unrest)
3. Ask Some country with same hatred to join (ex china and russia)(easy tech/equipment and other)
4. Cyber attack(anything consumer good ex = unrest)
If we're saying asean can call in china and russia then europe will most definitely be calling in the USA.
Now that we've gotten the US involved the 'embargo card' is nonexistent. The only thing that south east asia would be able to blockade is the trade from east asia passing through the mallaca and other small straights in indonesia. Most of that is china and if the EU is at war with china anyways it's basically useless. Now, on the other hand, Most of the EU majors have aircraft carriers with france having nuclear powered aircraft carriers. They could blockade not only south east asia from every other ocntinent, but also china. Russia would fold from a French-spanish-italian-ukranian joint invasion.
And if the US decided they wanted to invade directly then there's really not much of a chance those countries have.
And playing defensive assumes the EU and nato will launch a land invasion of SEA. That's stupid, they won't. The most we'll do it cripple your economies and starve your people into submission. (It's not that hard, not even chinas navy could break a european blockade, let alone a joint american-european blockade)

As I said before, the one who will suffer from cutting off trade between europe and east asia (which is the only thing that SEA can cutoff realistically, I don't think their navy is capable of blue water operations like Britain/France) is China (Europe will obviously suffer too, but it's much easier to replace a manufacturer then it is to replace high tech sales that come from europe)
Even if the US doesn't get involved (Which they will, they are staunch european allies) China would most definitely not like any SEA attempts to blockade world trade (in which case SEA would have effectively pissed off all 3 major world powers, not an ideal situation as you can imagine)

We live in the age of globalisation, every economy is intertwined with the rest of the world. Blockading advanced economies like Vietnam, thailand, singapore, malaysia, etc would essentially kill off any industry they have, ruin their ability to produce war munitions and completely wreck their economies.

Honestly no one would win, ASEAN would just do what Vietnam did against the US in the past and asean wouldn’t be militarily strong enough to invade Europe. ASEAN wouldn’t benefit from a long term war because they would just get bombed out of all progress made militarily or technologically and Europe would suffer large anti war riots even worse than when the USA bombed Vietnam because of way better communication technologies as well as the large Muslim population residing in both Europe and south east Asia so it would just basically be a Vietnam war on a larger scale

Um, also, the reason why Japan easily occupied most of South East Asia was because most of them were colonies of the Allies, some of which has capitulated to Germany (e.g. France and the Netherlands). French Indochina, British Malaya, Dutch East Indies, Burma in the British Raj, etc... And Siam was a Japanese ally. So yeah.
If a war between ASEAN and EU would break out it is certainly possible that Russia would join the War but idk if the US would join in the side of the EU or even join the war at all because like the European Union the usa also has some ties to ASEAN countries like for example. Singapore,Vietnam, Philippines, and Thailand too

@@georgiancountryball202 that is true for that reason because of nato's Article 5 but because USA has some ties to some ASEAN members there is something that they could probably do. first is that the US might try to push diplomatic solutions to it's ASEAN allies or if it fails, they could just limit their military engagement with those ASEAN Countries and instead focus on Russia

@@mohammed44_ Germanies GDP is 30% bigger than the UKs while their population is almost 40% bigger. Russias nominal GDP is small because of sanctions, but in terms of purchasing power (the metric that matters) its economy is around the same size as germany's.

ASEAN could ally with China and would still not stand a chance, the key here is NAVY, most ships in ASEAN's warfleet are older European vessels, they simply get spawn killed, before even setting sail and similar to ww2 Japan, if they lose a ship, their fleet gets smaller, if the EU losses one, they built another 5 and don't confuse modern container ship construction with modern Warship construction, there is a huge difference here, while the EU would struggle to get a hold outside of either small islands or Larger Harbor cities, they could get everything if they do it Roman style, meaning holding all vital area for 200 years and wait for the populous to get slowly Romanized, like in Spain or Gaul, but i admit its far more likely after a decade or 2 of Guerrillas fighting in Medium sized jungle towns, the War gets unpopular enough at home, for EU forces to withdraw

I can't tell whether the people who are saying asean would win are actually serious lmao.
For those who are:
Wars aren't always about taking over territory and integrating it. A war can simply be blockading a nation and starving it economically until it surrenders. This is what the EU would do, they would deploy nuclear submarines (which they have a load of) and nuclear aircraft carriers (mainly france for this one) to cut off any trade south east asia has with the world.
South east asia would definitely also try to cut off all trade between the EU and east asia, but that would be done at the risk of angering China, Japan and south korea. Cutting off european trade to china hurts china way more than it does the EU (The EU can move its manufacturing to india/mexico but China can't source its high tech goods from anywhere other then the EU/US).
If Chinese trade is really cut off they would most likely either force south east asia into submitting by joining in on the blockade or just directly invading from the north (this is a much less likely option as I'm sure China wants the EU to continue the war and weaken itself).
ASEAN has a large military, but that's about it. They're still technologically behind. Their best tech is from the US/EU and the US/EU only sell them things they started phasing out over a decade ago. There are some exceptions to this (The Phillipines has a few high tech american systems and singapore has a very capable military) but in general they're poorly equipped and the aerage soldier receives much less regular training. (Plus they don't have a single naval power on their side so they're pretty much screwed, especially indonesia)

The EU could just blockade ASEAN and starve them until they give up. The food security index is the reason why I think ASEAN would lose. Since the EU would have naval superiority meaning they would be able to blockade ASEAN. Logistics in itself would destroy them, without imports or exports any nation on earth would get annihilated.
