Rescuing a BIG Water Snake trapped in Lake Overflow Fence | LIFE OR DEATH 🐍 + bonus clips |

Video from a couple days ago of a northern water snake in Illinois getting caught in a fence with water current too strong. The fence is placed at the overflow of a lake so that fish dont go through it. Prior to the fence there were large bass, pike, carp, and many other fish that would flow through to their slow deaths. The other side is a small channel thru a corn field that dries up every summer. As I was recording a small male in the distance, a large (possibly pregnant, or very large stomach from a big meal) female swam right in front of me and got sucked into the current of the overflow. I watched as she struggled for a few minutes first freeing herself from the fence, but not strong enough to swim through the current. I decided to grab a stick and help out and she slowly swam off into the shoreline weeds, as the small male makes the same mistake she does. Luckily, he makes it out of harms way without needing any help from a stick.
