Sam Darnold elevating his play to a level high enough that were questioning sitting our future QB drafted in the first 10 next year. *You love to see it*
I can see the Dolphins being players for Sam next year. Tua NEEDS to retire (for his own sake) and Miami would be a great fit for Sam. Good team, good coaches...Tag & Trade and recoup some draft picks.
@bobanegaming being that I think JJ is a better qb than darnold, yes. Just winning a super bowl doesn't make you a good qb, look at some of the qb that won like brad Johnson lol. Also consider his 30 mil per year salary offers, everyone whined about cousins making that and darnold is no cousins! Not hating on darnold, he's played pretty smart but he's also thrown some insanely stupid balls and is panicking under pressure at times.
We've been to four Super bowls and lost... If we win one with Sam Darnold, I mean isn't that the whole point? We finally found what we've been waiting for... KEEP HIM AND MCCARTHY!
If KOC can trurn around Darnold just think what he could do with JJ. Without the huge contract that Darnolds going to get. Do u want to sign free agents to bolster defense or oline?
If he keeps playing well it’ll be a tough choice between Sam and JJ. Only KO can make that call. We should trust whatever he decides. I hope we keep Sam for another year or two, but it’ll be a big mistake if we do like the Jags/Cowboys/Packers and sign him long term 50mil+/year
It will be interesting to watch the situation develop and play out. Those closest to Sam knew that he just needed a system and environment that could feed him. KOC has provided that. 2024 Sam has shocked us all, his stock is rising significantly. Ultimately these decisions (move/stay) are business decisions, but for my part, I’d love to keep Sam in 2025. Cheap insurance at 10+M$.
Mccarthy is the guy. If KOC can do this with darnold just imagine. Plus we will have 1st round pick and cap space to improve interior oline and secondary.
If Darnold keeps playing like this there are multiple teams that will throw a bag at him. But if the Vikings let him walk and JJ is a bust....ooff is all I can say.
Sam is a known quantity and quality who's playing at an elite level. He's playing like the franchise quarterback we want and need, JJ has the potential but we won't know until he's the starter. JJ can sit behind a franchise quarterback like Jordan Love did which hasn't hurt him.
He playing good not elite every game he throws 2 bonehead plays because thats part of his DNA as qb but watching him play gets me so excited about JJ future. Im more into our coach scheme and weapons that i believe any qb that KOC likes fits in our scheme and with JJ leading us and not paying top qb $$ to build up more on this team. Our team is better because were not paying 40 plus million for qb we will be going back 2 steps if we sign him and have a young qb on rookie contract ready to play and be scared because a younger qb besides Kirk play good for us. These bonehead plays he does will cost us games plus 45 million a yr i rather have a rookie make 2 or 3 bonehead plays with a elite Rg blockin for him and better C to block for JJ and dont forget JJ was chasin him down before he got hurt for starting job later on in season
It is way too early to cast my vote on Sam Darnold. This is a question that needs to be picked up after Thanksgiving. I need to see how he responds to defenses that begin to adjust to his tendencies. I need to see how he counters. He's off to a really good start to the season...
The answer is simple… it’s JJ McCarthy. Darnold is a product of the system he’s in. We know this by all his other performances and how many QBs KOC has made successful. Can you imagine if we kept Keenum when he had a great year. Or if the Chiefs stuck with Alex Smith after a decent year with Mahomes in the wings. Or if the packers stuck with Favre with Rodgers ready to take over.
Point i made on your Monday dump. I'm not sure If Sam has hit his ceiling yet. If he hasn't and he only gets better!?! Even Jets was saying they are all still getting a feel for one another.
There are certain situations where I don't think we would be able to reject him. If he keeps playing like this, the Vikings will win 14 games and probably make the conference championship game at least. If he doesn't, that's when we can really discuss whether or not. If he does, there is no discussion, he will be back I think. You can't just trade Kurt Warner away because he's 28 and hasn't proven anything before 1999, he proved everything in 1999, and the Rams would have been absolute chumps to let him walk.
Jj is gonna be a pro bowl quarterback, he has all the tools . The only way I’m picking Sam over him is if Sam plays great and we win the superbowl this season . Even then I’m only signing him to a 2-3 year deal, cause I need to see him do this for more than one season
Still too early to be asking this. I'm surprised Darnold has played this well so far. Still a long way to go. If Darnold plays at this level all year, you bring him back for one more year then start McCarthy until Darnold stinks or until 2026.
I'm in the JJ McCarthy camp for 2025. But, if the Vikings sign Darold to a 3 year deal AND a QB needy team offers us a high 1st round pick for JJ, I'd consider it!!
No... just, no. If Sam Darnold is so amazing, why didn't he overcome more adversity in NY or Carolina? If Kevin O'Connell is so good at elevating QB play, why don't you trust him to do the same with JJ McCarthy? To resign Sam in 2025, you're talking 30 or 40 million in salary, much of which will count against the 60+ million in cap space for the year, when the team has real needs at corner, interior d-line, interior o-line. Oh, and the Vikes are short on 25' draft picks too.
Good points but the coaching in NY and CAR were just HORRIBLE. I doubt Mahomes would have succeeded there... I think Sam will re-sign in the 15M range with guarantees just to stay in a comfortable spot taking into consideration what his future would have looked like without this opportunity with the Vikings. There is always the possibility of a wonderful opportunity with a well coached team where he can cash in and be their franchise QB.... but where would that be and would Sam actually want to play there? RAMS maybe? LIONS? DOLPHINS (if Tua has to retire I can see this as a great fit for Sam with a Tag&Trade and recoup some draft picks)?
@@BS_Stuff If Sam plays well enough to resign him, then I doubt he'll go for 15. If he will actually sign for that, sure, Vikings should go for it, and tell him he has to compete. But players, their agents, and the player's union all want the bag. They constantly want to be pushing for higher value contracts. There's almost no "QB middle class" in the NFL for a reason.
It's not a so-called "tough decision" ~ McCarthy is only 22 and yet to play a significant down let alone a game. You sign Slinging Sam aka Darnold Schwarzenegger to a 3 year extension and then you have the opportunity to trade if and when McCarthy earned his drivers license as it were. Keeping Sam is a no-Brainerd and while it might get clicks, talking otherwise is otter folly. (I did not Miss Spell *brainer* or *utter* BTW)
I think the Vikings should trade JJ McCarthy and Keep Darnold. The Vikings are a forever loser club and they need to continue to make loser franchise decisions. They need to keep the 3-time bust and trade away the kid who won the HS Natty and the CFB Natty and is clearly the better physical player. That has always been the Viking way.
If we win the Super Bowl, you run it back with Sam until we lose... Then you trade him and start the kid! (The scenario we use if we win the Super bowl)
Sam Darnold can make this decision easy by winning the Super Bowl.
Yup
Go big or go home.
Brad Johnson won a super bowl, didn't mean he was a good qb. Just sayin
@@jrolladarksine8551 He played good when it counted. He played awesome against the Raiders. So yes, he was a good QB.
@@jrolladarksine8551 Just because you don't always play good doesn't mean you can't play good for enough time as it takes to win the big games.
Too early to call. Can he do a two minute drive at the end of the game? Can he handle primetime? Let's just let him play this season.

The tag and trade option is the way to go imo, we have JJ and on rookie deal
If we win the Super Bowl do you still want to trade darnold

I think Darnold will get a good, but not crazy high, offer from another team, and he'll take it because he hasn't really cashed in yet.

MMMM, We have only played 4 games. Start this discussion when and if we clinch a playoff spot. Last time we started 4-0 (5-0), we finished 8-8.

It depends on how he performs for this entire season, including the playoffs.
Good morning SKOL!
Mccarthy is the guy. If KOC can do this with darnold just imagine. Plus we will have 1st round pick and cap space to improve interior oline and secondary.
Amen 🙏🏻
Tag and trade for picks. I think it could benefit both teams immensely
Yeah, we do have a lack of picks next year, so this could make a lot of sense.
If sam stays successful gets us to the playoffs (maybe more) he’ll be our starter for the future
@@Puma4986 shii why change up of the play stays successful and consistent 💀

Extend darnold for 2 years, let JJ sit. Like a lot of other top talent qb's. Not rocket science
3 year deal and then trade after 2
JJ already is sitting and clearly was the best QB going into this year he is better then Sam
Love made 3.1m a year sitting behind Rodgers.
Makes sense, lets see how far Darnold takes us, superbowl or bust
@Puma4986 Darnold is proven in regular season. So i see at least +1 year deal he may not want that so maybe a backup to JJ like flacco
It is way too early to cast my vote on Sam Darnold. This is a question that needs to be picked up after Thanksgiving. I need to see how he responds to defenses that begin to adjust to his tendencies. I need to see how he counters. He's off to a really good start to the season...

FIND A WAY TO KEEP BOTH! WE HAVE IDEA HOW JJ WILL BE AFTER SURGERY
Darnold should take big money and play for Miami. Dolphins gotta be moving on from Tua, right?
Let’s let it ride
Save both of them let them play together every game put in Mccarthy and darnold
JJ, why spend money on a QB again when we already have 1 JJ is going to be better then Sam believe in KOC QB ability
