I’ve always thought Ballade No.1 was the best ballade until I heard Ballade No.4. And now I’m hearing Ballade No.3 and I’m convinced Chopin was a genius!

The wonderful thing about these pieces is that I nearly get the same "tingle" as they gave me then.

Theory: The reason Traum wears a mask is because he doesn’t want anyone to know he’s Liszt. the reason why his repertoire is so large is because he has insane sight reading skills.

This is the only one of the ballades that doesn’t end in a depressive fit of rage. What a nice beautiful ending.
Edit: Im not talking about the very ending but just the coda in general.

P.S. Though admittedly, I sometimes like the other Balladés on different times.

This man is a legend beyond belief, he has done complete Waltz's, Etudes, and now the Ballades. And on top of that this coda is so intense and amazing @5:43 with amazing phrasing and a great interpretation of the piece in general. Traum you are truly my favorite RUclips pianist!

I've always had a soft spot for this one, massively underrated!
I find this particular design of the floating notes difficult to look at. They look much “busier” than the typical solid rectangles I’m used to.

The best coda
The most beautiful piano piece would be Ballade No: 1 or No: 4. Ballade 4 is considered to be the Mona Lisa of the romantic period. Ballade 3 would be easily the best piece of ANY composer. But not in case of Chopin.
I could do without light effects. Why not then bring graphics to another layer? Such beautiful Ballades...

I ran out of superlatives some 18 months ago . If l didn't know better l'd claim you were a reincarnation of Chopin ! You playing leaves me breathless ! I 've listened to this piece many times but missed so many notes and emotions .....just so beautifully played Traum. You really are on another planet ! This is a keeper ! Thankyou .

Where’s the passion, the dram, the pathos? This performance is flat and devoid of the magic that Chopin imbues into his pieces. It’s ok but still quite amateurish in many aspects. Your performance needs maturation.

2: Ballade No.3
3: Ballade no. 4
4: Ballade No.2
I respect your list but you should listen to Zimerman's recording of ballades 2 and 4. The beauty of the second ballade's theme 1 contrasting with the "presto con fuoco" moments is simply incredible, he knew what he was doing... As for ballade 4... well, for me it's one of the best but I didn't think so before. The main theme, the melody is simply brilliant. I would say that the fourth ballade is an interesting mix of the DNA of the other 3. Anyway, I think it can grow on you

I’ve played all 4 ballades and the fourth ballade definitely has hardest coda the third ballades coda is actually relatively easy compared to the other of Chopin’s ballades.
