Thanks to our own pride, legalism is so seductive. We can easily convince ourselves that we can not only live up to God's standards on our own, but we also look out around ourselves with satisfaction as we see ourselves doing better at following those "regulations" than our brothers and sisters- if we are truly saved at all. It's too easy to not realize we are trying to follow the law, not out of love for God, but rather out of pride within our own hearts. May God continually reveal our hearts to us and sanctify us until we are glorified in Heaven. Oh the mighty work He has done for us! Praise Him.
Amen and Amen RC ! I thank God for raising brother Sproul up to rightly divided the Word unto His glory... I'm forever in his debt. Soli Deo Gloria ! ! !
I am so dominated by theese types of people.....Jesus is gonna get them....and he is gonna save me from theese people....I hate you Satan and you are in for it....and you deserve everything God does to you....love Steve....
@John Bull Yes! And whoever Abides in Jesus will certainly Listen to Him and Obey His Commandments..Like He Ask you too. Jesus Saves You..Not the Blab of the man you are listening to.
@John Bull I don’t obey men..I don’t care who they are. I Obey God..He Knows what is Best for me and has the Power to Provide. Jesus Saves..Heals..and Restores me. The Blab of men can Do Nothing. You are a slow learner.
The only thing I would add here is that the tradition of the elders was viewed as divine oral tradition from Moses. Look at Tractate Aboth from the Mishna
I think that this is an excellent message. However, I would like to say that what R.C. mentioned about movies and dancing can depend upon what those movies are, and whether or not the dancing is a form of rejoicing, such as we see in the book of Psalms, or the sensual type, such as what we can see from the ungodly. Even Spurgeon spoke against sensuality.
I don't much about RC Sproul (actually this his his 1st sermon of his I've listened to), so I can't give a full defense for him. Here's what I will say, the difference between faithfully following God and legalism is who makes the commands, and if the commands are from God and we teach about that command it isn't legalism, but if its from men and people say to follow as if it were from God then thats legalism. I hope this is informative, but I could be mistaken, especially since I haven't listened to RC Sproul much. Thanks for the consideration, and have a blessed day.
RC’s teachings are far from legalism. It is strictly by faith thru Christ Jesus is where God will grant his Grace for Eternal life. That’s what RC Sproul taught. He just happens to be a reformed theologist and has to support Calvinist views, I personally am not. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment, this sermon doesn’t seem to be unbiblical, nor does it define Sproul to be a legalist. Sproul does a great job explaining the Word of God plainly. I hope brothers and sisters reading this may have faith in Jesus, asking him for growth in discernment and letting him work in us, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Praise the Lord! And I thank Him for giving us R.C. Sproul, the greatest reformer theologian of this
Century.
I'm so grateful I got to study with RC Sproul in the 1990's. I learned about Martin Luther and how great the Reformers are from RC.
I'm not a Calvinist, but I agree that Sproul is the greatest reformer theologian of this century. ❤️

Follow God, Not Human Traditions.
Jesus Said..”If You Love Me..Keep My Commandments.” Excuse me..But I am going to Stay With Jesus here.
@John Bull
You are being Stupid! “If you Love Me..Obey My Commandments.” He explains this in Matthew 5 6 7..as Well. Your name is fitting.
@John Bull
All you are looking for..is a way to think you are saved and keep your sins too. Good Luck to You!

@John Bull
I have no argument there. I Know Him as Jesus. My name is said differently in another language too.
The mind is the battle ground... We might say the "heart" of the mind...

I left a church that is legalistic I now go to one that has the same name that isn't legalist

The entertainment stops in the parking lot. We are entering the holy of holies.

Everything needs to be discerned with wisdom and within the frame of glorifying God and displaying Christ-like love and discipline.
Legalism creates feminism.
They had lots of man made rules back in bible days.
