It's pretty awesome to see even a really good skater like Aaron still learning new tricks and advancing, it gives me confidence that everyone can still learn something
+Sensei poole Just saying. If you arnt use to your board yet thats probably why. most people start trying tricks before they can even ride comfortably, which makes it a lot tougher. I would say just skate around your neighborhood and get really use to skating and maybe bomb a couple hills and then come back and try to start learning tricks
I usually do these kind of tricks in games of skate and I haven't lost yet. But I've only played a game of skate with two peeps that are better than me. All my skate friends are nubes.
Dude I just went through this an hour ago. My progression through it was almost identical. First I was like.."nooo I can never make this work, doesn't make sense", then I was kicking it away, then I was doing it with one foot good. And then when I finally really popped it and dragged my foot into the Ollie and quickly pulled in, I landed like 3 of them. I was Soo stoked. It's crazy how similar the experience was.
Hospital flip is a dumb name that has no meaning behind it. I fuck them up on a daily basis and the worst thing that happens is you get a good shinner. It's called a casper flip.
@@MiniMight it originates from the freestyle trick the Casper. The Casper in Casper flip refers to the act of your front foot making contact with the griptape in order to flip the board.
I learned these last year and then I decided to get creative and learn one in a bs 180. I've never seen anyone do that and it felt like I actually did something cool when I started landing them. You should do a today I learned with that or at least try on the side. It's one of those tricks that make you feel like you did something fancy. Lol
yes, I just learned this a half hour ago actually. You honestly just try to put the two together. That's all I did and I compensated for anything new that was needed by putting them together such as flipping the board back harder than you normally would in a hospital flip and the synchronizing to get it all to line up for the catching/landing. if you can do both decently you can certainly do these with a little practice in a day I would think. I would usually come to a stop when landing. landing straight and rolling away with speed is probably the hard part. I'd say just think of it as you are just doing a 180 while hospital flipping and not think that it's as complicated as it looks. Sorry for the late (and long) response.
***** If you are going to learn alpha flips you are better off to start the rotation for the 180 then do the hospital flip. I find that it looks better and feels so much nicer. If you try to do it all at once it can and usually will throw your balance off and make you put your feet too close together. Try doing hospital flip and landing with your legs crossed, it feels strange to start with but once you get it, it feels right.
I've been working on that forever. I've landed them a couple times but not cleanly. I just call it a big spin hospital flip because that's practically what it is
Its because his mic is literally attached to his shirt. If he had someone in the background holding it then you probably wouldnt hear that. Everyone does it
This one of my favorite tricks! Now try it in the heel flip variation. I find it a little easier and looks cooler! Look forward to seeing a video of you doing it.
I had this trick pretty consistent back in the day, once you get the foot movement down it's fairly easy to replicate cause your foot is always in contact with the board.
I thought Hospital Flips were with the back foot only, while Casper flips were front foot only. With the both of them being like a horizontal Impossibles. Either way, sick stuff
You have no idea how satisfying this is to watch when you and all your friends were doing hospital flips in 2002. Most people I know landed it basically first try after just watching other people do it, having someone to demonstrate it in front of you makes it super easy to figure out. Aaron would have done it way quicker if he were trying it rolling, idk why the fuck he practices tricks standing still.
Jorge Rodriguez hospitals came way easier than kick flip and bs shovs to me, learn them with a bs 180 and they look pretty gnar, or get that back foot working and learn caspers you won't be disappointed
Jorge Rodriguez i learned varial flip, sex change flip, inward heelflip and fakie/regular bs/fs 180 heels way before the normal kickflip. i dont know why but it wasnt a problem for me
I used to do this trick (inconsistently) and was told it was called; "Ollie Fortunate" and "Luck Flip" - I'd never heard of a "Hospital Flip" until today. Fun series of videos - makes me want to dig the skateboard out of the attic and see if I can destroy the other knee.
where I come from when i learned it both ways, they called that featherflip, a hospitalflip is when you do basically the same thing but the other way around with a half heelflip (much harder).
lol it was a person at the door you can see their shadow in the window because the window is tinted black but it did look like it at first XD Cj Garcia
damn sweet job i loved that slow mo hospital , and yes all of your makes are hospita i have a friend that did hospital 360 down 8 stairs in iceland and i whold realy like to see you trie hospital 180 so good luck and you are awesome ...
+Jet Avide Yes it is. I skated for about 9 years and this was always known as a Casper Flip. Now people are renaming tricks that already have names to them. There's no difference if you use your back foot to push the tail around if the board is still flipping the same way. I don't care if you use your back tail or not. This will always be a Casper Flip to me.
Thanks for putting this video I try to learn this again but I feel like it doesn't have a full turn and I want to learn it again. How you flip it and turn it
The way he is doing it is a "Casper Flip". A "Hospital Flip" is doing it as if you were gonna do a Heelflip. Like he said he wants to to just do a Kickflip, the "Kickflip" version is a Casper flip where the Heelflip version is a Hospital flip.
One of the easiest tricks to learn. Taught myself this trick in twelve minutes not even knowing what it was called. It looks difficult but if you just sit there trying it, you’ll surprise yourself with how quickly you learn it.
2:46 BATB 7 Cristian Vannella is the dude who did that trick CASPER FLIP LATE FLIP. He is the whole reason why BATB 7 Joes happened. His flatground stuff is extremely crazy!!
hey aaron for the hospital flip u kinda want to flick out but keep your front foot on the board and your back foot dosent matter its just all in your front foot and it really helps if you have your toes hang off cause then u get a good wrap around so thank you for your trick tips they really help me
I love this trick. For some reason it always came easy for me. I had not skated in 4 years and just got a new complete and the only tricks I still had off the bat was heel flip and hospital flip.
Learned this Trick a few month ago. It is easier than most people thinking and a really funny one. Its a non-popular, and because of that impressive Trick :) If u wanna learn it, dont think that the turn around with the half flipped Board is a "Late-Flip-Move". It is a special flippin, but one step. If u know this, it will be a lot easier. I love Hospital Flips :D
The hospital flip is maybe one of the easiest tricks to learn, I learned it in ten tries, it's just being fast with the front foot to make it rotate like a nollie fs shove and automatically land it, it's just a fun trick!
I used to love this trick. It's an awkward motion cause you roll your ankle anti clockwise to keep the board under you and whip it back. If you roll your ankle it aches after lots of tries, but looks better.
this was one of the first tricks i learned when i was like 12-13 yrs old. my buddy came up with it. (we'd never seen anyone do it before even though someone prob had. this was 20 yrs ago though. flip down not out and bring it back over.
They're easier while riding. I'm glad someone finally knows what a hospital flip is.. I do kind of a 90 varial kick and keep my front foot on it and pull it back before it flips.
i love your videos and the positive things you guys are doing with the youth and the positive message you guys send out with your videos keep it up guys
It's pretty awesome to see even a really good skater like Aaron still learning new tricks and advancing, it gives me confidence that everyone can still learn something

I can't even ollie
Sensei poole Everyone at their own pace, you'll get there eventually if you choose to go for it
+Sensei poole thats sad but hahahahaha you can do it

You bring a hospital flip to a game of s.k.a.t.e, everyone's screwed.
+RileyReviews That's my secret weapon, nobody excpects the fat guy to pull out big guns. Fakie ones are super easy too.
+RileyReviews one of my killer tricks. do it when they're on E. They're always like "what the hell was that"
I usually do these kind of tricks in games of skate and I haven't lost yet. But I've only played a game of skate with two peeps that are better than me. All my skate friends are nubes.
Switch hospitals and plasma spins always get two letters since I have both first try
RileyReviews just won a game yesterday with that trick lol told them good luck guys i know it was mean

True, I’m at the popping part 😂
4:57 soo smooth lol
yeah man! haha check out my other stuff Evan Considine
It's called a hospital flip cause that's where you'll be if you fail the trick.
+KushDC SingingWhileDrunk wtf is your problem
Hospital flip is a dumb name that has no meaning behind it. I fuck them up on a daily basis and the worst thing that happens is you get a good shinner. It's called a casper flip.
@@lucaslabute8114 and what exactly is the meaning behind the name Casper flip, educate me
@@MiniMight it originates from the freestyle trick the Casper. The Casper in Casper flip refers to the act of your front foot making contact with the griptape in order to flip the board.
@@lucaslabute8114 ah, I understand now, thank you
Damn, I wish I would've learn this trick before my accident...
You will recover, yeah?
David Mendoza
Car accident? that sucks hope you feel better man #BrailleArmy
Yeah dude stay cool and get back to boarding
Did you have to take a trip to the hospital ;)
David Mendoza Dude. Did you fall off the Empire State Building? Like damn. That's terrible. Although it's been 7 months. How are you now?
The grunting at 4:46 got me crying still an amazing trick to learn 🤙🏻
4:47 that sound lol ..i feel bad for lauging :"D

Been doing these for about 13 years. I kick down, not out, then flick my front foot to toss the board back. One of my favorite tricks
Those sounds he makes when he jumps
Ikr
Its because his mic is literally attached to his shirt. If he had someone in the background holding it then you probably wouldnt hear that. Everyone does it
I love this dude's videos because you never see professional skaters admit they don't know a trick and try to learn new ones
I love the grunting sounds he makes with each try 😂👌
This one of my favorite tricks! Now try it in the heel flip variation. I find it a little easier and looks cooler! Look forward to seeing a video of you doing it.
now every time i land a new trick i hear aarons voice in the back of my head saying "WHAT?!!?!?!"
I've always known it the opposite way to yourself, ah well
hospital is back foot but casper is the motion with just the front foot
Araya Robinosn A hospital flip is with just the front foot. Casper is back foot you got mixed up.
I thought the same think, maybe aaron messed it up in a vid, either way SAME TRICK WORLD! SAME TRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICKKKKK
If you know what a Casper stall or slide is a Casper flip is just the same. Hospital flip definitely just the front foot
Man, looking at Aaron video about learning new tricks always got my attention most. Was cool to see my fav skater's joy when he landed new shit!
That noise when you go for it. Perfect in slow motion. Huuuuuuwweehhuuuu
Haha Aaron ur awesome! :) Everytime u land it: OOOOOOH HOYOOOOH :'D
do a "today I learned" series with the heelflip variations

hahahaha at 6:03 someone opens the door to see what's going on,then sees you shouting and comes back home
good that he posted this, shows he practices what he preaches , even a great skater like him still has trouble learning tricks
"Now that I've told you that, watch this"
*Cuts to clip where he lands the trick*
You nailed it! You'll see that rolling is even more beautiful
I learned this trick a few weeks ago but I still can't kickflip, heelflip or frontside popshuv. Is this a problem?
Jorge Rodriguez you sir, have a gift 😂
Jorge Rodriguez #skategod
Jorge Rodriguez no, I skate mongo and these old school tricks come a lot easier to me than standard flip tricks too

and im really good at this trick lmao
I got to hospital due this trick
3:07 LOL sick Aaron, keep it up!!!!!!!!!
Those grunts 4:43

King Barney its really really odd
Is it that easy?
Eddy Alvarez It's not that difficult, for me when I try Switch Flips I end up doing like a Switch Hospital Flip. xD It's not very far away.

I can't kickflip, but when I try too I end up doing a hospital flip :/
your tucking ur feet in before you flick all the way. flick a lil harder
+Allen Raymond you're blessed
Slinger Marshall I have landed one kickflip now... its still easier for me to nollie flip though.
Allen Raymond It sounds like you're developing a weird style
+Slinger Marshall steez
nice aaron u should make another video of you skating the loading dock next to you
casper flip
its a casper

shut up
Aaron kyro you are crazy man. What a stunt (HOSPITAL FLIP) . I love you buddy
Cool flip I'll try to learn it. And what tricks apply together for that trick
Like a kick flip and front foot Ollie impossible

Such a dope trick, I always just called them casperflips, been doing those for years
I just leaned hospital flips like 8 hours ago and leaned it in like 10 min! I'm soo hyped with this new trick I learned
You're are an amazing
Skater😄😉👍😀
I love this trick. For some reason it always came easy for me. I had not skated in 4 years and just got a new complete and the only tricks I still had off the bat was heel flip and hospital flip.
I see now how you're flipping it halfway then pulling it toward you with your foot. I gotta try that next time I skate.
The staisfaction on Arron's face when he achieve a trick is too much motivating
I love how u explained the trick with ur hands
So are you supposed to wait for a little when doing a regular half Casper?
AWESOME!!!!!!! LOVE YOU!!!!

cool but from were do you have the boards

I learned hospital flips by watching your Casper flip vid.
I don't even skate anymore, but I Aaron because it's so entertaining to see a person get a trick down.
this was one of the first tricks i learned when i was like 12-13 yrs old. my buddy came up with it. (we'd never seen anyone do it before even though someone prob had. this was 20 yrs ago though. flip down not out and bring it back over.
Ed Templeton showed me something like that back in 95. Him and Mike V were on tour for New Deal.
OHHH HOOYYYO! love it!
you just learned in one day , how amazing it was .
this was one of the quickest tricks ive ever learned, im a slow learner but this one took me about 15 minutes. Its more of a ollie than a kickflip.
I learn this hospital flip 12 years ago it's so simple got it right away
They're easier while riding. I'm glad someone finally knows what a hospital flip is.. I do kind of a 90 varial kick and keep my front foot on it and pull it back before it flips.
try to learn a full cab flip, ur awesome aaron
i love your videos and the positive things you guys are doing with the youth and the positive message you guys send out with your videos keep it up guys
Which BATB was it that had the casper flip late flip?
Yo Wsg Aaron I’m a beginner at skating and look at most of your vids and they helpful and very entertaining
i have my front foot more in the middle, more flat and less like a kickflip when i do them, try them like that and see if it makes it easier.
Where do you to get a revive board at in dallas?
the way I do it, I sort of pop a kickflip that's turned kind of frontside, then just wrap the board around my front foot
What BATB game was the half-casper late flip in?
When I learned that trick in '96 it was definitely call "Casper Flip". You really have to do a half flip and then lift and pull the foot back to you.
