  • VIA Rail ran the Bras d'Or train between Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia once a week from 2000 to 2004. This train departed Halifax on Tuesdays and Sydney on Wednesdays using the "Ocean"'s equipment that would have been laying over in Halifax. The train ran over the Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway's track between Truro and Sydney.
This video was uploaded by Steve Boyko after David's death, on the request of David's widow Pat. She wants to share David's work with everyone. This video was part of the OBE video "Canadian Trains from the Atlantic to the Pacific Volume 1". Apologies for any errors or omissions in the captions.
This video was recorded using a tripod-mounted camcorder on VHS videotape and then digitized, so the quality is not as good as David's later work.

I was fortunate to travel on the 2nd trip in 2000. I traveled all the way from Vancouver by VIA & did return trip as well.

Don't be afraid to upload David's older videos in 360 P, rather than 240P. David always did it this way, The only videos he uploaded in 1080I or 1080 P were from 2012 or newer.

Thanks, Timothy. I am uploading from the Video CD (VCD) so I don't really have a choice of format. - SB
