That off-white flight helmet- Back in the summer of '62, I was a CDN teenager, living in a place called Goose Bay, Labrador. (Home of Goose AFB). I agreed to buy a motorcycle, (That was traded in on a car). At that time, I had no interest in motorcycles.I had never looked at one- up close- and I knew no one who had one. At the end of the shift, we locked the place up- and everybody else left- and I went outside and sat on my...what on earth did I buy this thing for!?! And: What do I do, now? It was getting near sun down, when a car pulled up to the pumps and stopped. I got off the bike, and walked over to the pumps. (This car- was a mid-fifties Lincoln 4-door. It was in nice shape- but the paint on the hood/roof/trunk lid- was burned clean off! It had U.S. plates on it- three US airmen inside. me: "Sorry-guys- the pumps are locked out- and everybody else is gone home." The Driver: "Is that your motorcycle, over there? me: "Yeah- I just bought it." He: "Do you know how to ride it?" me: "Hell no- I don't even know how to start it." (I choked up- I had no idea where to go from there. He: "My friends and I- will show ya." (They piled out of the car, and walked over, to where the bike was at.) Long story short: The bike did not start, (he kicked it until he was blue in the face. His buddy- jumped on- and kicked the snot out of it-too.) I freaked out! He: "It sounds like it wants to run- I am sure a bumpstart will fix it." (Uh- what is a 'bumpstart?) He pushed that motorcycle- out to the driveway, that led up a hill to the highway/ told me to get on it. He: "Lift up on that gear pedal 'till you hear a click- you are now in second gear. Hold that clutch lever, in- until I tell you to let it go. Just a second- I gotta get something from the car." He went back to the car- drew something from the rear window ledge, and came back towards us. He was carrying something. (Looked like a football helmet- but this one had a visor on it? ) He placed that helmet on my head. "Here- I will show you, how to 'buckle up'. And you make damn sure- that whenever you are riding this thing- that you are wearing this helmet! This visor- pull it down until it clicks. When you want to raise it- smack that black knob above your forehead. Are you ready? me: Yeah. (Not really- too much information/ too fast.) They pushed me up that hill- I dumped the clutch- the motor fired- and I swear to Gawd- I never came back! Couple of weeks later- they showed up at the gas station- right at closing time: they: "How are you making out with that motorcycle?" me: "I dumped it in the driveway when I got home. That helmet thing you gave me- probably saved my dome." They: "Hey- you wanna come over to the Airmen's club on base? Leave your bike here- we will take you there and bring you back." Which they did. And I never forgot it! The reason why I am telling you- this- is because I like to think- that one of those men, or someone who reads this and knows them- will get in touch? Because- at now 77 years of age, (and I still ride)- I will never forget, the kindness that those men showed to me! (Thank you- for giving me the chance to tell this!)
Nice collction. A Dutch ww2 (1940, the one's with the lion on them) combat helmet is missing. Write a letter to Kim Jong Un if he has a Korean war helmet for you. Maybe it works. Regards from the Battle of the Bulge area 🇧🇪.
Nice collection, it would be great if you could pick up the helmets so we can see the decals up close or in the liners. Same with the medals back in front. Or hd camera
Outstanding helmet collection! The variety, rarity, authenticity, and presentation is amazing. You’re right: reproductions aren’t worth it, and paying retail is a no-no when collecting. Well done 👍
Nice collection and cool video. I have ahelmet collection as well including my Air Force issued M1 Viet Nam era helmet. They let me keep it when I got discharged! Enjoyed your video. It’s nice to see what other collectors have!
Very nice choice having a couple Israeli lids! Their clones have a lot of character to them, but as far as foreign used M1s go they're by far my favorite.
I have no word to describe how much your collection is fantastic!!!!! I have myself a helmet collection but nothing like yours. But i have some pretty cool helmet too like a adrian m1915, a m1916 stahlhelm and a m40 stahlhelm. I subscribe!
Great collection dude! Don't know about the DD m40 Luftwaffe though The 2nd decal (national flag on this one) was dropped in 40 or 41, before the M42 went into production Most likely the 2nd decal was applied post war, doesn't look original either. but the eagle seems good

Hello! Amazing helmet collection however I’d just like to let you know that the M42 Luftwaffe helmet has a painted tri color decal on the side which is not supposed to be there. It was most likely added post war to make someone pay more. However good news is there is a possibility that you can remove the bad paint with acetone.
Glad you enjoyed the collection. I am aware that the tri color is hand painted and I won’t remove it since it is very old paint. It could of been done during the war considering how old the paint is but it’s very unlikely.
@@Gr-zny good to know that you already know! I do see why you don’t want to remove it if it’s been their for a long time I suppose it is part of the helmets history. Maybe it was kids playing war with their dads bring back items or maybe a old movie prop who knows. Anyway as long as you know thats all that matters. Again really a brilliant collection you have keep it up!

That’s really awesome!! I’m a newer collector so unfortunately I only have 4 helmets, but I’m still working on it. I hope I could get a collection as big as yours one day!! Also, so you know where I could get some helmet stands like the ones you have on some of them? Thanks!
War Doge Glad you enjoyed the video. The helmet stands were made by me. The ones I’ve made require woodcutting tools so I’d recommend getting stands online if you don’t have tools readily available.

The National flag on the M42 is hand painted, most likely done post-war but it looks very old. The eagle is original though.
The second ww2 german helmet you showed is a m40 not m35. Atleast looks like it, the went isint stamped seperatly on the shell
Cool videos, I got Vietnam videos and a little bit of ww2
Amazing collection! You must have spent a lot getting all of that.
Yes!

How and where did you acquire your Princes Irene Brigade helmet? Didnt expect to see such an example in your collection.
Bought it at a local military show from a vendor who got it in Holland while he was in military school there in the 60s

Приветствую, Отличная коллекция!!!
Looks cool
Nice collection.
Nice war room!
Very nice helmets. Just thought I’d let you know that MP helmet is a modern day fantasy piece. Still nice for display but not the real deal
I’m sorry you think that but it is in fact an original Vietnam era MP helmet.
As a history nerd I would like to have my room like this
I've always wanted a ww1 german helmet do you know where to find any?
History Lessons eBay is your best bet.
@@Gr-zny Thanks. I check regularly but only find ones way to expensive for the condition.
History Lessons yes that is regularly the case but finding one in person at local shows is very rare, for a good price at least.
omg it's the MP hat!
