    Once upon a time a regularly watched a tv program called Nova. In the 1980s and 90s it was great. Then it started to go bad and disappear. I know get a video from Anton each and every night of the week. This is far better IMO. 🎉

    It is important to keep your video games in a ferret cage to protect them from cosmic rays. But don’t put the ferrets in your gaming room because they will chew on the wires. 🤔

    • @christopherforsyth5284

      A ferret cage ? I think a cat litter box would work almost as good as a Faraday cage.

      @@christopherforsyth5284 that’s what Fraser Cain said but old habitats die hard and the ferrets would rather be outside of theirs.

    Anton, I'm confused about how we can tell where cosmic rays come from. Cosmic rays path can be changed by magnetic fields and the galaxy is full of magnectic fields. Or am I missing something?

    • @donmacquarrie9161
      @donmacquarrie9161 Час назад

      I always thought gamma rays were high energy photons - not particles! I'm confused too....and why do they call them "Rays"? is it a stream of particles following the same path? maybe they should call them Raysicles instead of wavicles...?

  • @kaarlimakela3413

    Is this why the older technology of Voyagers I and II still have surviving functions whereas, as you say, the cosmic ray intensity has terrible effects of concern on more modern stuff?

    • @fikretyet
      @fikretyet 2 часа назад

      A multi-layered box with a lead outer shield and a polyethylene or maybe something like graphite or boron inner layers (ex. borated polyethylene) can be the most price effective solution, I guess. For very professional things, there should be increased levels of hard shielding because magnetic fields does not work against gamma rays.

      Presumably not since E = hc/λ: Ultra-high-energy (UHE) gamma rays, which are produced by PeVatrons, have a wavelength shorter than 1.24 × 10−20 m: Thus the λ=Planck length {is 1.616255(18)×10−35 meters}, would be the hypothetical limit.

    • @Melooasfs
      @Melooasfs 47 минут назад +1

      Well dont worry, If you have ever been outside on a clear moonless night far from pollution and light sources you might have seen the stars and nebulas of the milky way, Everything is in color but the light is too weak to see any of it this is because in dark conditions your eyes are only able to see in black and white. This is because the sensors perceiving light and dark are much more sensitive then those perceiving color, However you will see a tiny glint of color in the sky here and there. The images that are generated from NASA do enhance these colors and often expand them by using data captured of light outside our visible color spectrum. They do not depict wrong information but they enhance the image to be better then we can ever see with our own eyes. Everything you see in those images are there, just not visible to our eyes.
