In their "Crush U" MV, the cat is thought to possibly be the spirit of the heart of the Tree of Life. Cats also often have a place of honor and respect in a lot of monarchies and cultures throughout history. And EXO has been sent to Earth by a leader that they referred to as "Your Majesty," which we hear in "Mama." So it makes sense that the cat would have a place of honor in EXO's story, whether it represents us fans or the Tree of Life. "Young & Free" came out July 7, 2017, so just for reference, this was also almost exactly a year after NCT-127 debuted. Funny thing about Xiumin and Mark's "Young & Free" collaboration is the fact that Mark is almost exactly 9 years younger than Xiumin and yet you would never know it. Xiumin with his eternal youth never ages. I always find it cute that the song is called "Young & Free" and yet Mark and Xiumin are technically almost a decade apart in age and aren't really even from the same generation. LOL However, Xiumin adores Mark and Mark really looks up to Xiumin as an older brother figure. They are really cute together. In the MV Xiumin is pretending to teach Mark to dance. As the older of the two, Xiumin is supposed to be imparting his knowledge on Mark and Mark's youthfulness is supposed to be rubbing off on Xiumin, etc. So what Xiumin was doing was trying to teach Mark how to loosen up and find his groove, etc. Some theories also point to how, even though this is an SM Station collaboration, that the story in "Young & Free" could be connected to NCT's dream concept and/or EXO's other world/other dimension storyline. The woods we see them enter at the end of "Young & Free" looks very similar to the woods scenes in Suho's "Call Me Baby" Pathcode teaser video, the woods we see Xiumin laying on the ground in in "Love Me Right" and the woods in EXO's "For Life" MV, etc. Which also could be part of a dream sequence, which would connect to NCT's dream concept. Fun fact: As you may know, Mark is the member of NCT who has done the most collaboration projects with other SM artists. I think in 2017, the year "Young & Free" came out, Mark did 3 or 4 other collaboration songs and projects with other SM members, as well as promoted with NCT-U, NCT-127 and NCT-Dream. There was an SMTown concert where he had like 8 stages as a member of all 3 NCT sub-units and he also participated in about 5 songs he collaborated on or was the featured rapper. That's why people say Mark must be SM's favorite, because he is the one chosen for the most projects.
