@UncleMikeNJ Yes, The Operator! Her goal would be to deviously introduce hand-held phones to the innocent citizens of Gotham City--her minions giving them away for free! Then, they'd spend all their time, staring at their hand-held miniature phones, wrapped up in conversation, and while the entire city is distracted--POW! The Operator makes her move and sends her mind control message to the people, hypnotizing them to crown her Queen of Gotham! Only Batman, Robin, and the Bat family can see through her scheme and defeat her. But...Nah!!! Too fantastic. A whole city walking around, holding phones, and staring at their phones all day! Ha! Get real! :)
Alfred struggling against the silly mind control was actually a bit disturbing. Like the pieces of his free will were being torn away. Good performance by Alan Napier!
@@disneyfanlover905 Love it. He always sounds like a tough guy badass AND highly educated at the same time. It's about Burgess Meredith. He could quote Shakespeare or yell at Rocky Balboa and it just seems "right".
Holy bat the fuck! This is made so much funnier by Alan Napier doing such an earnestly serious performance as Alfred fighting off the effects. It's actually disturbing! And the contrast with Penguin's goofy squeaky horn is gold.
Kind of a weird thing for Alfred. I mean, in the comics, he has his own history with MI-5, and he and Thomas Wayne are war buddies, but here he seems kinda bumbling. The comics did this same bit with Batgirl in the 70s. And another, much more horrific, memory gambit with Batman in 2003's Identity Crisis.
Actually, Alfred in this show was usually quite competent. He rescued Batman and Robin multiple times, defeated the Joker single-handedly, and when he discovered Batgirl's secret identity, he was able to hide it from Batman and Robin.
I can't imagine how fun this must have been for everyone involved. "Aim the quacker into the phone and sound angry, Burgess."
The creators have an obsession with telephones in this show
@UncleMikeNJ that would have been legendary
