in the beginning the merc was a bit faster, but the bmw looks like it has a more consistent acceleration to the end. but when it comes to daily i would say they are very competitive.
Just drove both. The Merc has far more useable power as a daily. Sure the b58 can be tuned to make more, but stock for stock it’s a much better all around car. Suspension in the 540i doesn’t even begin to compare to the Mercedes

Looks like the BMW speedometer is rather optimistic against the GPS corrected speed. Did not see that on the CLS when you drove it, so not really sure what to make of the acceleration times. On a subjective basis, I would have expected the CLS to step off the line faster since it is supposed to be aided by some electric power. But that did not appear to be the case.
