I have one. It’s great. I drove two hours to a showroom where I could compare it directly to a PRS Silver Sky and a Robert Cray Strat, and it won hands down. Not even a close call.
First time on this channel… what is this sorcery going on in this intro solo??? I would listen to this all day!!! Wow you’ve got yourself a subscriber.
I think you've gotten to the point that, no matter what is in your hands, you're going to sound amazing. No discredit meant towards Sire. Thanks for the vid John
@@MarkFromTaiwan but these are amazing guitars, you have to go try one somewhere, unless you have the budget to buy one and then sell it if you don't like it, which would be a huge surprise! I'm a make to order owner, ordered a S7-FM-TBL back in April last year, received in October, mannnnnnnnnnnn, I cannot express the pleasure of this instrument. btw I own several other guitars, including a Fender American Standard Stratocaster Custom Body HSS Sienna Sunburst first edition Z7 sn#...the Sire is the closest thing to it! Trust me, try one.
Just got my S7 vintage a few days ago. It took 6 months to get one in. Got it in black. Besides being just a beautiful looking guitar. The craftsmanship is high level ... Especially the neck is outstanding. The pickups are great ... Quiet on mine/Larry Carlton. I really like how responsive the tone knobs are on this guitar. You can get very bright tones and then really round it out when backed off for a lush standard clean jazz tone. . Very wide tone sweep , kind of like a cry baby. I did have to do a basic set up to suit my playing. Truss rod, action. Set the vibrato arm to my liking and pickup height. I love it. Very affordable.
Dear John, Thank you for the tests about this guitar, it was make the decision much easier when I search a really good Strat and now Im a happy Sire owner. In this price range, unbelievable, the sound and quality, one word: amazing instrument. (P.S. Please tell the Sire guys, we need this colour in vintage seria :D )
Glad you like it. I got a really good deal on one of them during black friday and the guitar is always next to me even though I have way more expensive guitars. The neck is slightly chunkier than I would like. It reminds me of some Suhr guitars I've played in the past. I find the pickups extremely versatile and not really noisy. I haven't played out with it yet, but I haven't notice a lot of noise from it. For the money it's an incredible guitar, of course nothing beats a gift ;) Cheers, and happy playing
Incredible playing. These pickups are always a big surprise to me when I watch demos of this guitar. They just have something about them. It's like a ye old strat sounding thing but also has more. More high, more low, more everything. I'd usually swap out pickups to taste but I doubt I'd be touching these when I buy this guitar. Thank you. Your demo sealed it for me.
Same here. When I bought mine through Sweetwater I already had plans to get some Seymour Duncan pups but after playing it, I cancelled the order! They ARE that good!
I bought this guitar with the HSS configuration after watching this video. It is a very good guitar. Excellent out of the box, no need for a set up other than truss rod adjustment to lower the action to my liking.
I popped the stock high E string with a hard bend, so I decided to restring it with a set of Rev. Willy's (Billy Gibbons) "Mexican Lottery" .007 ultra lights - only extra set I had to hand - but oh, My, My, MY!! I thought it was easy to play before! Bending is soooo sweeeeet! hehe Still sounds great too, may sacrifice some tone, not sure...
...and I did end up ordering the S7 Vintage! I found a demo model at Sweetwater, $100 off and in stock, with a blemish so small I had trouble finding it with a flashlight! Wonderful guitar - along with the T7 FM, the best sounding, best playing, guitars I've ever touched (and I have a rather large collection).
I love these roasted necks. I'm now sold on SS frets and Locking tuners with spoke adjust neck. Thank you HB!!! Now I'm trying to get behind one of these Sires. Covid depleted so many of us. Great playing John indeed.
I didn’t notice any cutaways. Does this mean he did all that without messing up or losing his groove? I’m kind of stunned. Beautiful playing , lovely melodies and a great instrument. I’m truly moved by all of this.❤️
They do take with this version of s7, only with white pick guard. The brown looks better fitting with overall design and esthetics. Amazing guitar tho 😻
Oh man that thing is stunning! I kinda want one now lol. Cant get them here in New Zealand so ill just cry and request backing tracks lol. Can I have this BT :D? Absolutely killer playing as usual man, I could listen to you play all day! (and sometimes do).
I wish I would have gotten that color. Looks fantastic! The veneer on mine is pretty lousy, but I’m still happy with the purchase. They feel great, hold tuning, and sound very nice.
Great demo ! I’ve watched the other dems and fancy one of these instead of a Fender Player . I have a Michael Kelly Patriot which can sometimes see the E string go off the fretboard and it’s so annoying but it’s a great guitar . Nice to see that reviewers like yourself and Pete from Anderton’s manage to get gig bags with their Sire special orders but the ordinary punter gets nowt 🤣🤣
I really wanted this guitar when I first saw it. But, it made me want it more when you played it!! I wanted to purchase this specific color but its not available in neither thomann or andertons. Do you have any idea who else sells this specific color? thanks!
I love that colour, that is the guitar I want now! You would make any guitar sound great but I love my T7 vintage and want an S type guitar to add to the collection. Perhaps if email them and ask nicely they will do me one? 😆. Great playing and a great showcasing of the instrument.
Most people that play all the arpeggios and some of your hammer on stuff do it for the sheer technicality of it. there are very few that say something in their playing. your guitar playing takes the listener somewhere. there's only a few guitar players I say that about. number one is David Gilmour. you don't do speed for speed's sake. it's very impressive. All of these comments below preceding mine, dude, you know exactly what you're doing.
I'm thinking of buying an S7 in the next few months. I prefer the look of the Vintage models but can see the advantage of the HSS set up on the regular S7s. Any advice appreciated?
On the newer V2 you can split the humbucker through the tone pot (push/push). Having the extra bass for me with the humbucker just makes more sense now that I can split it.
I seen a number of youtube videos of people raving about Sire guitars. But they are non-existent in the US. I think Sire consists of just one dude in Asia working in down in his little shop building these guitars. They've been out of stock since probably early, early Spring or even the Winter here in the US. Sweetwater told me a few months ago when I was looking for a Tele, that they won't get any stock until December and to put my name on their list if I want one....I ended up buying a Fender. Meaning they are all probably now already "Sold out" if and when the new inventory arrives in the US.
I got a white Strat, just like yours, last Dec; and a mate of mine, he got an S7. He'll now use this video to punish me. Oh woe. I still like the Strat tho. P.S. Cool shiv bruh
That color is gorgeous. Perfect with the tortoise shell pick guard and those antique knobs and pick up covers. Is that a color they offer normally? I've never seen it before.
Hi John, I'm trying to find that exact Sire colour in SSS but can only find them in HSS... Don't suppose you can let me know where you got it from? Cheers
Can you make sound compa of S7 HHS and S7 Vintage. Just curious of what they sound head to head. Thank you! Might bought one soon. Looking for reference 👏
Hi John, when you get the time I would appreciate your comments in H90. Besides my old les Paul standard I bought s7 hss which I find a very good guitar. However what do think of the pickups? Any suggestions if I want to change them? Keep on with your very informative videos 👍
H90? Do you mean the Eventide? I've never played one but they look crazy! The Sire pickups I've found to be ok, not mind-blowing. If I was going to change them out, I personally like lower output vintage style pickups like Fender CS69s or Lollar Dirty Blondes
Hello there, great guitar. I'm not sure what choose between the sire S7 S-S-S and H-S-S. I'm used to play strats with 2 tone controls. I'm asking myself if the H-S-S version (with just one tone control) can be a downside in terms of tone versatility. Furthermore I'm looking for crispy clean sound even for jazz or fusion so In your opinion are more suitable the H-S-S pickups or the S-S-S ? thank you
Hasn't been an issue for me. The V2 with zebra pickups allow you to split the humbucker using the push/push tone pot and it's got the exact tone I need! Anything else I need I can simple dial in on the amp.
Dude great playing as always! That green color is killer!! I have a couple questions... I need to get a strat style guitar in my collection.. I played a fender player Plus and did not like the sound of the pickups.. For the money I wasn't impressed.. What are your thoughts on the Sire pickups compared to the fender competition? Also I was thinking about HSS on the Sire.. Now after watching your video, I'm thinking about the vintage? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks and keep up the videos!
Great playing mate! I was hoping you can try the Harley Benton Fusion. I was hoping to buy one and would like to know your thoughts about it! More power!
What really gets my attention here John, is your melodic approach that is very inherent in your playing. Love it.
I have one. It’s great. I drove two hours to a showroom where I could compare it directly to a PRS Silver Sky and a Robert Cray Strat, and it won hands down. Not even a close call.
I'm planning to buy an S7 as my first guitar very soon. I'm really hyped about finally learning. It was on my bucket list for more than 10 years now.
Which one are you going to buy? The s7 vintage or with the humbucker?
I definitely would have wished to have something like this when I got started 21 years ago.
WOW! That has got to be the best relaxing solo I have ever heard WOW!
Wow mate, the playing in this one is really remarkable, keep it coming, awesome stuff. 🤘
