This is killing me. Nothing is this new anymore. It was magical. Home computers were still brand new and advancing fast. Look what we have now and all because of this. The business computer meets home computer hybrid. Your laptop or whatever.
Wow - this gets the nostalgic feelings flowing. Jeff Minter - a true pioneer and your games were always amazing (and still are) Awesome footage - I never made it to one of the shows in the 80's and could only look at the pictures in Zzap! I hope that you have some more wonderful footage to share with us. I met you in Worthing at the pinball festival a few years ago and brought you and Ivan a cup of tea!! Nice.
I can sort of remember being there but the memories are merging a lot. Was it Olympia where Jeff had his hand painted Atari and he was doing a live demo with Colour Space onto to a projection screen?. That demo inspired me to customise my own Atari and become a VJ, and eventualy start our own company called Vivid Image Productutions. We got succesfull putting large screens into clubs and festivals and created live and rendered content upto the mid 2000's. When people ask how i got into VJ'ing I would always tell them about Jeff Minter and his wonderfull visual generators. So thanks Jeff, you are an amazing guy.
Amazing, thanks so much Jeff. I am a kid of the 1980s and one who was born on the other side of the Iron Curtain in Romania. I also did not play your amazing games till much later on, in fact this year. Was never a gamer but was digging trough gaming history and happened to aquire a MMP console lately. So emulators not the originals, still... they are truly mindbending. It is really nice to also catch the context these games where released in and what the demoscene was actually about. Thanks for making these games available and keeping the historical track of that work.
Thanks Jeff & Co, always massively enjoyed your booths at the Play Expo. A particular highlight was the illicit Polish lion bars. Looking forward to a bit of Polybius PSVR this Christmas.
Love it, wish I had been there. But at least I played the games at home, in Sweden. This is a wonderful document from the early years, when gaming still had its magic.
Ah we 80s kids, what times. I sat behind Jeff Minter at the Manchester Commodore expo revealing the Amiga via a short film. I think Jeff muttered that the Amiga was crap! Circa 1987/88/89 I think (maybe)

Wasn't this Olympia?
In any case, what a bloody fantastic time to be alive!
I remember seeing that ST with the paintjob in CVG.
