She's the best internationally and finally landed the 4T! Good job!
Yup. She's the bright and beautiful future of this sport. Congratulations Mao🌷 .
So elegant! Such a high level of difficulty performed with fearless heart and angelic grace. She is a treasure!
Well deserved win! I especially love her spins.
As much as I am impressed by the beautiful (and fully rotated) quad… I hope she waters down in the coming seasons a little bit. And if she gets injured they let her rest. Mie Hamada has driven Marin Honda and Rika Kihira to burnout- I hope she learned and recognizes what this lil one can be.
I want her to be healthy to make a huge bang in seniors.
The Korean skaters have it worse and they don't even do quads. Go look at Yelim, Young You and Haein. Completely burned out.
Mao is doing better.
Just incredible, I always enjoy watching her..
Молодец! Прекрасное катание, смелая и талантливая девочка,очень лёгкая
I adore this program, what a stunning music choice, so well suited for Mao's beautiful skating skills and her impressive jumps. That 4T was just glorious!! Speed, distance, flow AND completed rotation
So fast! Amazing!
Usually her jumps are a bit low, but she really got some decent height on the 3A and 4T today.
maybe she just not using her energy for triples enough cause we can see her triple combos she does it so efortless
@@drvnxt4035 She got a < and a q for her 3/3 combinations today, so maybe a bit more energy would prevent that and help ensure a higher score.
She is going trouh a growth spurt she can do much better than this and we know it, it's amazing how she can still land the triple axel and quad knowing how skaters tend to loose momentum and their axis until they adjust to their body changes
She went midori ito speed into that quad....
Beautiful
I love her Kwan spiral.
Amazing jump without doping!
As great as it is with jumps, I so enjoy the music, choreography, expression, spins, skating skills, and speed even more!
Mao este pograma es muy bueno👍
I was so pleased to find this performance by Mao Shimada posted to RUclips. An exquisite and talented ice skater, combined with brilliant choreography and a stunning choice of music track lifted this to a new level or perfection. Hats off to her wonderful and dedicated trainer and coach - utterly delightful to watch - thank you :)
The best 4T from her
beautiful 4T
Incredible! She îs The Best! Beautiful! 🍀👏🏆
Good speed and flow across the ice and no question she can jump. I wish some of the positions were held longer and she should work on having better stretch and body lines.
That!!!! Was nothing short of INCREDIBLE!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥👄
Einfach eine erstklassige Leistung
Hosh that music is beautiful.
She is one of my favorite skaters, she is so elegant and does very well for being only 15 years old, she has a great future, she will surely reach the Olympics
still underscored!

Her best performance for this program, so brilliant ✨
хороша!!!! все в ней великолепно- фигурка,костюм,хореография. Очаровательная улыбка. Только можно восхищаться
Очень сложная программа, молодец!!!
Oh my goodness-- this girl can skate! Love it-- my fave!
MAOOOO JUNIOR GOAT
Wow, her spins are lightening quick!!! She looks beautiful in that dress😊
Love baby Mao.She is one of the female skaters that I am looking for after the Great Mao Asada. She is such a determined, incredible competitor who can combine difficult jumps with amazing speed and delicate artistry. Just need to work on the rotations on some of her jumps, and she will surely have an extremely successful career in the future.
Молодец! Нашим девочкам не стоит расслабляться, на международные старты поедет самая стабильная с ультра си, когда бы это не произошло, чтобы бороться за первое место и три квоты…

Hi Mark. Love your commentary.
I just can't imagine she is my age 🤯🤯🤯
She is 15 years old and participating in the Senior World Champion. I thought they could not participate until the age of seventeen
i hope her expression can improve like satoko does

Великолепно, скольжение напоминает как у Косторной. Смотрела с большим уовольствием!
По скольжению она и рядом не стояла с Алёной
No, the glide is nowhere near Kostornaya's. She's amazing but her glide does not float with the same ease as Kostornaya
@@savanahbabyyyyyes :Mao is 💯 better already !
@@ingai7014 The glide? Never. Her 3A? No. Her 4T? Of course. Aliona was too weak to ever get a quad.

She’s amazing…
This program has more difficulty than Jason Brown ever or will ever have. Insane!
@@quintupleaxel Quad toeloop!
You don’t need to put a people down he has his own nice qualities.
Why are you hating on Jason Brown? He has nothing to do with Mao's skating (beautiful as she is in her own right). Jason literally gets some of the highest component scores in the world, you don't need to use Mao to put Jason down.
@@lyramusica4485 I'm not hating Jason. I love his River dance routine at Nationals. As great as his component scores are, Figure Skating is a sport and sports require athleticism, which are jumps, and especially quad jumps for men! If Jason skaked during Brian Boitano times, he would be killing it!
Платье очень красивое, как морская фея!!!
Her program took my breath away...literally.
👏👏👏🌺🌺🌺😍😍😍💖💖💖
Mao was underscored.. so not a fan of these judges in Beijing.. very disappointing 😣
Mao was not underscored. She had under rotation issues and so did Jia. They need to rotate their triples.
Why second japanese woman? Did Rika Kihira or Miki Ando not land 4T already?
Rika and Miki jumped quad salchows, not quad toeloops. And Rika never landed it internationally
Because the first one to land 4T internationally is Rion Sumiyoshi
Solo 138??
dear commentator, how do u find joy in funeral music???????????????
Ну вот, прекрасно прыгают и квады, и триксель. От нас наша юниорка Маргарита Базылюк спокойно составит конкуренцию Мао. Надо признать, японка хороша!!!
Easily compete? Mao’s components will body any Russian junior right now.
She scored the 150+ last March with a junior-scaled PCS and a 4Tq.
@@Jc_trono Yeah but with Russians, the judges and Russian viewers all believe they deserve max GOE for everything and ridiculously inflated pcs for slow skating with arm waving + angsty faces.
Why even backhand that triple loop that she lands 90% of the time?
Is a 3-3-2 combination allowed?
Of course it is...
@@aronhelios1734 since when?
@@MGloria. You cannot repeat a jump 3 times, under this rule you can arrange your jumps freely.
3Lz-3T
3F-2A
So she could jump another 3T for 3S-3T-2T combo.
@@MGloria. Rika Kihira did that before Mao Shimada.
@@yachuchuang3651I know what the Zayak rule says. I was complaining about the fact that she performed a 3S+3T+2T combination which is not allowed because the combination should be 3-3 or at least 3-2-2
хорошие вращения, четкие выезды, будет конкурентка россиянкам, когда их допустят к соревнованиям
😂😂😂
Шикарные прыжки с выездами. Вот ведь что сложно.
Yes, it's good competition. They won't slack off internationally and still push top content. Mao is best girl internationally and a great competitor

No shade to Kaori, but Shimada just saving the entire ISU women’s field from going down the sad way of women’s tennis… crazy strong
This one is better than Kaori I think in some ways
great performance over funeral music
the funeral music is 😂😂😂
Она хоть прыгнула 4тулуп и 3 аксель , но не выиграла , жесть просто
в смысле? она выиграла и произвольную, и это соревнование
Выиграла. Чем вы смотрели?
I wonder what rank she would be if there was no banned competition. Jia Shin and Mao Shimada are currently the best juniors from all asia and europe, but the real test is still on hold
On a good day I think she is still #1. Last year when she became world junior champion it was a higher combined score than anyone at the equivalent Russian event.
Honestly not that many Russian juniors are super consistent with their quads and 3As. Her skating skills are far better than them. I think Zhilina is a better jumper (tbh unprecedented quad ability for ladies) but she’s inconsistent and her skating skills are dismal.
But we all know what judging with Russians involved is like. She’ll (Mao) probably be nerfed Wakaba style so the Russians can win no matter what their skating is like.
there is no good russian junior skater at the moment. As a matter even in senior Russian girls are completely out of shape this season
no sense competing against doped up cheaters who literally don’t learn edges according to Zhenya. russians produce the most quads but they’re prerotated and somehow underrotated as well, they get 30 extra points just for showing up with eteri tutberidze despite having awful technique like anna scherbakova. only russians believe russians are the best. nobody wants a bunch of starved abused kids on drugs tainting clean competitions.
Mao's biggest rival would have been Sofia Akatieva who would easily win since she beat Kamila Valieva at her first Russian Senior Nationals when Mao couldn't even surpass little Kaori with zero ultra-c at Japanese Nationals. Sofia also has better skating skills than Mao. Sofia is still junior internationally not senior. The better match against Sofia artistically would be Jia Shin with a 3A and 4T not Mao. Too bad Jia will never have a 3A and 4T which is why Mao is sitting comfortable. Sofia's triple axel is also bigger and more powerful than Mao (and most women), she also easily does 3A +3T in the short in juniors, but luckily for all international skaters and Russian skaters, Sofia has terrible luck. Sofia's career is almost over with that stress fracture she has on her foot. She might finish her career before 2026 which is very good for Jia in 2026. Mao will not qualify for 2026, but 2030 so Jia is golden since both Sofia and Mao will be gone. Kaori will not beat a clean Jia, but since Jia keeps giving away points and falls randomly Kaori will have an opening in 2026. If Sofia survives and returns to top shape it is bad for anyone going against her. I don't think Sofia will survive the stress fracture to 2030. It's on her foot. She will not make 2026 even if allowed back unless she has a miracle.
The second junior would be Margarita Baziluk with a consistent 3A, 4T, and 4S. She does 3A + 3T consistently in the short which is bad for Mao who can't do that in the short. Attempts 3A, 4T, and 4S in the free. She does one triple axel and 3 quads in the free always. Landed every single 3A this season in both the short and the free which Mao didn't do. Mao's maximum BV in the free this is 68 with potential 71 which cannot match Margarita's minimum of 81 in the free. Margarita will be the toughest to beat since Sofia A is doomed with a career ending foot stress fracture.
The third junior would be the newbie Aliona Prineva with a 4Lz+3T. She has the highest valued quad jump barring the 4A, and better skating skills and performance than Mao and a much smoother glide. She can also do 4F, but left it out of competition. A better rival would be Jia again for artistry against Prineva not Mao. But Aliona is inconsistent with her 4Lz, and will always zayak herself in the free. That will be a good opening for Mao if she can do a 4T. Mao is extremely inconsistent with 4T. This was the first 4T she landed this season thankfully. She failed at every competition until the JGPF.
Veronika Zhilina is too inconsistent to be considered a threat at all to anybody at this point. Since her injuries she's gotten less and less consistent. Until she is consistent again with her 3A + 3T, 3A, 4T, 4S, 4Lz, and her triples (she still falls on triples) she is not a threat to Mao or the other top Russian juniors. She has the best jumps and technique in the world, but too many injuries. She might end her career like Sofia or even before Sofia. They are both always injured every season. Always. Bad luck for them, but great for everyone else. On the bright side her little sister is back to singles and also has quads---4T and 4S but no 3A.
The fourth potential is Elena Kostyleva who is now in novice (12), but will be in juniors soon. She has better skating skills and performance than Mao. Jia unfortunately is not a match for her either. Many people want her to switch to ice dance since she thrives in skating skills and performance, but she is a jump machine too and beat Margarita at the novice level (before Margarita stabilized 3A). She has 3A, 4S, and 4T. She'll be turning 13 next year (2024) and will be in juniors. Her and Margarita also have bad blood/drama so it would completely overshadow the competition with Mao. The stories and headlines would be Elena vs Margarita instead of Margarita vs Mao or Mao vs Elena due to the drama/history behind Elena and Margarita. Stories push sports, and there is no story for Mao vs Jia or anyone in juniors, but there is a strong brewing rivalry and dramatic personal story behind Margarita vs Elena. They don't like each other and neither do their parents. Especially Elena's mom who trashes Margarita every chance she gets and blames her for Elena being kicked out of team Tutberidze. The media would play with that unless Mao gives something more to not let their dramatic rivalry take the spotlight. It was Yuna vs Mao. Alina vs Evgenia. Anna vs Sasha. Mao needs something so she's not in the background and it's not Margarita vs Elena again if they ever come back to international competition.
The fifth is Alisa Dvoeglazova who is inconsistent. She has 3A, 4T, and 4Lz. When she's stable she can push two clean programs, and two clean quads max in the free with two fully rotated 3-3 combos helping her break 230+ points this season with 76 BV in the free which is higher than Mao at her maximum. She has good skating skills but subpar programs.
Sixth there's Alisa J with more power, bigger jumps, and very good skating skills, but she only has a 3A. No quads. She can match Mao in BV in the free with 65 BV and better performance skills than Mao, but still her 3A is inconsistent. Also Mao's max right now is around 71 BV when completely clean on all jumps so Alyssa would need a quad or 3A + 3T advantage in the free. She is not a threat to Mao.
Seventh there's Maria Mazur who has less performance skills than Mao. She has two quad toes and no 3A in the short or free. If she's consistent she'd be a threat, but she's not.
Eight is Ekaterina, but she does one 4S. She'd need two of them in the free, and she has no 3A in the short for advantage.
There's more but they mainly only have one 3A or have never landed their quad attempt this season.
Mao is golden though because they will not come internationally anytime soon and Sofia A is the biggest threat to all skaters (junior and senior), but thankfully for everyone is severely injured and banned from skating by the doctors for the entire season (might end her career too if it keeps coming back). Baziluk realistically would be the only threat since there would only be 1 spot. With only 1 girl to beat Mao's always guaranteed a podium spot. No one is touching Mao or would beat her other than Bazyluk so she is always at least guaranteed silver. Jia's golden until Russia wins any extra spots or until she can finally get an ultra-c element. Yuseong is being screwed over since she has no rhythm and poor musicality with subpar skating skills. Her jumps are too tiny too so she's the most low balled even though she's the closest to Mao in tech and doesn't have rotation issues like Jia.
That’s fun and all, but it’s no use what they can do if they can’t pass a drug test, right? Right bot account? @@savanahbabyyyy
А в России спад, все грибуют за мимику.

@@quintupleaxel I've watched all of Kamila's performances since she was 13 dozens of times, with the scores and without, when it comes to landings AND GOE Kamila always score the highest because her landings are the cleanest and the best, Russian scoring can be overscored as you say but that goes for all the Russian skaters not just Kamila and all her WR scores were in international competition not in Russia. Her scores have dipped yes, she has grown from a girl into a women so it will take time for Kamila to adapt but she will get there of that I have no doubt, will she be breaking her WRs NO but she can score 250 I believe which is way better than Sakamoto 225 in Grand prix final. The Nationals are coming and Kamila will score 82 with a clean SP, if she adds the triple axel 88 and if clean in the Free 160 and that's 25pts below her PB or her WR, she makes up her points with her artistry elegance drama and her understanding of the music so she doesn't have to attempt 5 quads like the other Russians, they know they have to jump quads to compete with Kamila and that is also why Russian skaters don't last because of all the practice quad after quad after quad and then the competition, their bodies pack in get injured, takes it's toll, Kamila doesn't need to do all the quads so she will last longer as a skater, what's slowed Kamila down is how much she has grown into a young woman. You watch her compete against the other Russians it literally looks like a grown ass women is competing against junior's. Kamila will come good of that I have no doubt starting with the Nationals later this month. I watched her skate 3dys ago and it's the best shape I've seen her in all year.
Terrible skating, absolutely no composition in the program, all the jumps are like quick pancakes, like a bomb flopping into the bath, it's not beautiful, it doesn't look like aesthetics, that's all, the music is separate, the athlete is separate
