1 tsp looks much bigger than any teaspoon measure I own. Are you sure it is not dessertspoonful or tablespoon?
Thank-you so much for taking the time to write the recipe and share it with all of us. Much appreciated!
Are the potatoes already cooked or not
@@anne-mariemarshall3105 I thought the same thing. I"ll use more if I think necessary.
Dear Chetna, just wanted to say your chana masala recipe is totally amazing. I have been trying to cook Indian food for years, but to my frustration, it never tasted authentic or ‘right’. This curry came out perfect first time, in every way.
I quadripled the quantities as we are a family of five and if I didn’t batch cook, I would be spending all my waking hours in the kitchen! I avoided ‘vegetarian’ recipes before, as they seemed lacklustre and unsatisfying. Not this beauty! You would never think there was no meat in it, it tastes scrumptious and heart warming. Lovely meal. Served it with rice and my never-eat-anything 5 y.o and 7 y.o absolutely hoovered the lot and came back for seconds.
Your instructions are clear, well demonstrated, all the ingredients are commonly available and there is nothing on the list that is pretentious or hard to obtain like in many chef’s books. Will be having a close look at your other recipes.
Thank you so much for educating us and doing so in a accessible, no nonsense, engaging manner. I also feel you are doing a form of public service with this channel :) Lots of love and gratitude, Vera
Sweet Jesus. This was so easy and so delicious. I threw in some mushrooms which needed eating. Thanks so much Chetna. Love your cooking style and your physical beauty 😍
First I’m French and I love work my English with recipes. I try this recipe last weekend. And it was really good. Even my family who is a little bit closed to new recipe loves it. I also made naans and I was told to make it when ever again. My daughter prefers plain ones and I have to work my garlic one, but great success. So thank you.
Wow that is so lovely to hear, thanks for sharing with me. Makes me very happy read such comments
I tried this recipe tonight as I don't know what else to make for dinner. I had a tin of chickpeas and a bag of potatoes in the pantry so I thought I'd give it a try when I found this recipe. My husband loves it. The ripe Roma tomatoes I have made a huge difference and learned that from making curries before. I added green peas to add a bit of color and 3 large spoons of coconut cream. It was the best curry I ever cooked. Hahaha. 😂😂😂
This is the first time I'm commenting on RUclips recipes and definitely recommend this for everyone to try! 👍
Thank you for sharing your lovely dish! 👌
For those who don't know, fresh coriander in America is called cilantro = )
I just made this and it is outstanding! I added some frozen cauliflower florets and peas for the last few minutes, and stirred in a couple tablespoons of unsweetened coconut milk yogurt at the end so as to keep it vegan. It added the perfect amount of creaminess without becoming too rich. My family is inhaling it right now! Thanks for a real winner.
Made it and I felt in love, it’s so good! I’m added some tamarind chutney, mint, sour cream on the side. Loved it ❤️thank you so much!
I read it as Chetna masala at first, which actually it is :) I think potatoes will be great in this and if you cook them longer they will thicken the sauce nicely. I will use coconut yoghurt instead of the cream, I found out it goes really well with curries. A question, to caramelise the onions you sometimes say to do them on low and sometimes on high heat. Does it make a difference? I use medium for 10 minutes and they always turn out great. BTW tomorrow I am making again your chicken curry with dry roasted spices you posted a few weeks ago. I think I am addicted :D
No it makes no difference how you cook the onions, some recipes need some slightly golden and some need them deep golden brown and that is the only difference
Thanks very much for this. Just what I needed to cheer me up in these worrying times.
I would love to see your take on Trini Doubles. Indo-Caribbean cuisine is so good and full of spectacular flavors.
Will have a look into it
I keep making this over and over!
I love watching your videos, they are so personable 😀 and your recipes are very easy to follow.
Thanks chetna!
I made this recipe this afternoon for tea and it went down a storm with my boys (and me!). I used less potato and one tin of chick peas and subbed them for some carrot, white cabbage and peas. It was delicious. I used the cream you suggested and it really made a difference :-P
I also followed your instructions for rice and that turned out great too :-)
Wow, that makes me very very happy to hear!!!!!
Made this curry today and it was amazing thank you so much for sharing x
Glad you enjoyed
I have just had Chick pea and Potato curry for lunch. Delicious. Thank you Chetna. 💐😊Alan
Hi Chetna. I'm in New Zealand and love watching you videos. I made this tonight (vegan method) and it was super delicious!!! I can't wait to make some more. You're awesome ... and your mum is too
Thanks Louise, so glad you tried the loved the recipe. Hope you will try some others too!
Thank you very much! I've been looking for a recipe for chana masala that doesn't say to use curry powder! You made it look easy, too.
I have been making one of your recipes every week. Usually bring the leftovers to work the next day to share with the other nurses. Everyone loves your food !
Wow Karen, that is so amazing
Food with Chetna I think, for many reasons, including frugality, health, availability of ingredients, taste, access through the Internet and a desire to create comfort and connection, people are starting to return to home cooking.
Good cooking doesn’t have to be difficult, expensive or bland......quite the opposite!
I made this today and it is out of this world! Thank you! I added a teaspoon of Kashmiri chili powder. :)
Thank you, definitely going to try, looks lovely 😋
I love how you make everything seems so easy, I am going to try it.
Thank you for sharing this recipe 😋
I made this for lunch today and it was absolutely delicious! Thanks Chetna.
So glad to hear that Fiona.
1st time trying this & i love it
Chetna, I thought I had an easy recipe for chana masala. I tried yours out tonight for dinner and I must say yours is now the go to recipe. It is not only easy, but incredibly delicious! Hubby and kids loved it as well, my only regret is that I did not double the dish. But its okay, I'll make a second batch tomorrow. 😁 Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Yeah! I try my best to keep the recipes simple and quick because thats how I like to cook, so glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Chetna, I have learned a lot from you. Excellent easy recipes.
Beyond brilliant made with sweet potatoes instead of potatoes!
Your videos are THERAPY!
I have practically recreated almost all of your recipes.
Much love ♥️
What are you favorites so far?

I cooked a smiliar one from your book and it tasted amazing - go on everybody, try cooking this! It is really easy and tasty!
Yes that one has paneer too I think, all good food
Really simple & super tasty..thanks for sharing the recipe 😊
This is better than the Chana masala at my local restaurant! Seriously, thank you for this recipe. It really is easy to make, and there is a lot of it, too - enough for a week of lunches. I love your recipes. I feel like by sharing & showing your recipes, you are performing a public service. Thanks again 😋
Thanks a lot, so so happy you are enjoying the recipes!
I just made this & omfg SO DELICIOUS
Glad you liked it!!
Thank you so much. This recipe is amazing
Thanks Justin
I love your videos and your recipes. I made the potato pattice for a party the other day and they were such a big hit! thank you for posting these videos!!!
I love those pattice, happy everyone loved them
Thanks Chennai’s another great family recipe 😊
yes all family will love it
Love this! I think potatoes goes really well in indian curries, they soak up all the juice and spices nicely. We often have them in the slow-cooked lamb curries. Seems like a good student recipe. I've tried several of your recipes now and none have disappointed, have even made my own veg curry based on what I've learned from your videos (which turned out really well too). Looking forwards to getting your newest book!
Thank you so much, I love to know when people try my recipes and it helps them understand the cooking of Indian food much better
One of my favourites thankyou 😊
Wow, another super recipe. At first I was a little disappointed because it felt a little 'rough'. Then I remembered the sugar, well just those few grains of sugar took it round a corner and its LOVELY. Thanks again
Great !!! Please show more cooking.
Love this recipe, easy & delicious. Thank you.
Just made it.. Quick, easy and so TASTY!
Made this last night and my family loved it! It was so delicious!
Thanks Katie
Looks fantastic!! My favourite way of eating chickpeas is coated in spices and baked until crispy, but I’ll be making this tonight 😊
Hope you will enjoy
I made a double batch of this tonight for my nephew's 9th birthday party. Only 3 of the 13 people at the party were vegetarian/vegan, and there was maaaaybe one portion left at the end :D What a great recipe!
That is just brilliant and makes me very very happy
I love this. I remember when I was in the Middle East I used to have this almost everytime which, by the way, is the reason why I have gained several pounds. It also came with something called paratha but it was different from the others I have tasted. It was a bit flakey and pancake like. Woulf you have a recipe for that?
Yes you should try the laccha paratha recipe with this dish, it is on my channel
Love coconut milk in my curries, not had a curry with toast as yet, but i'm also a big fan of toast. Thankyou Chetna, it looks and sounds lovely.
Do try with some toast, love a curry with toast!
I substituted sweet potatoes. The cream made a great finish. Very satisfying.
Delicious. What kind of bread did you toast? Looks so good.
Just some sourdough
Wow Chetna, I can almost taste in my mouth

This is the first time you actually bring up the term "vegan", isn't it? Anyway: I love your recipes and I'm vegan - and most of the time it is very easy for me to veganize them (if even necessary). Thanks Chetna!
Oh really, I am surprised as a lot of my dishes are vegan, will mention it more where applicable
Love the recipe and the nail paint and the earrings and i love your hair too!

My 2 year old loves to help me in the kitchen. We are watching this together now. He keeps saying "eat" about it.
Thats so sweet!
aubergine curry recipe pleaseeeee!!!!
It is on my channel!!!!!
Food with Chetna omg yes!, what’s it under?! I can’t find it anywhere!!!
Oh no! so sorry it is not here on the channel but in my book 'Chai, chaat and chutney'. will share a aubergine curry soon here too.
Hi, you say teaspoon of the spices but it looks slot more than that?
I measure my spices and dont do guess amounts of spices. I want people to try these recipes at home and for that to turn out perfectly I always give the exact spices. It might look more as it is spread on a plate or a close up but they are exact.
Easy recipe means will you cook it for me?
