  • Bulgarian Mish Mash - The most perfect dinner for one
Hey thanks for swinging by! This classic Bulgarian dish is so simple and delicious. a few veggies in a pot, plus a couple of eggs and a chunk of cheese, and you've got a healthy, hearty, satisfying dinner. This version of Mish Mash is just my interpretation, and it is my current favorite. If there's one thing I've learned about Bulgarian food, it's that there is lots of room for interpretation. No two grannies will make the same thing in the same way, and I think that's pretty cool. Here's the ingredients list:
    Bulgarian Mish Mash
    • 1 tsp oil
    • 1/2 onion
    • 3 cloves garlic
    • 1 red bell pepper
    • 1 medium-large tomato
    • 2 eggs
    • 40g feta cheese
    • 1 sprig of parsley
    • Salt to taste
    About me:
I'm Paula. I'm a former professional cook and overall eating enthusiast.
I started this channel because I love making dinner and I love eating dinner.. but mostly it's because all I've ever wanted in life is to have my own cooking show. When I didn't get a callback after submitting my tape to Food Network in 2003, I put that dream to rest for a while. Until I clued in, I can do it myself on RUclips!
I love sharing the tips I've learned from professional kitchens and tidbits from my holistic nutrition education. But mostly I just want to show you how to make dinner. (See what I did there?) 😄
My cooking style is simple but flavourful. I cook with a lot of veggies but I'm not vegetarian. For me, a typical dinner is balanced, budget-friendly, non-fussy, and really delicious. I make a lot of family-friendly comfort food and a lot of simple, realistic dinners for one (or two).

I'm really happy I found your channel! I feel like it's really special when you find a cooking channel with the same flavor inclinations as you. You're kind of like the more low key Alison Roman. As someone who loves dairy and looooves veggies hehe. Your recipes are always so approachable and I've made quite a few of them. I'll definitely be trying this one. I make that bleu cheese lemon pasta with toasted nuts a lot thanks to you!

Paula, I just *love* every video you make. This Mish Mash sounds amazing... I'm going to the store to p/u some feta (along with some nutritional yeast). The garden is overflowing with peppers and tomatoes! I frequently make your vegetarian burgers (I add extra Worcestershire sauce and Tamari... and rub it on the formed patties as they cook). Honestly, you are such an amazing woman to share time with... trust me, if I were younger, Id travel to Western Canada and steel you away from your fortunate boyfriend. I LOVE you('re) wonderful recipes... would love to travel in Italy with you. Un abbraccio!

BTW, I’ve been on the hunt for ways to make frozen veggies taste good (for weeks when I’m slammed and can’t do proper food prep). I made something like this with some frozen grilled roasted eggplant, peppers, onions, zucchini, etc, and had it with quinoa. Not bad!

also did you know that you can eat a watermelon with white cheese it is a sublime combination between sweet and salty on a sunny day.

Try it with no eggs or cheese.
Same ingredients but more bell peppers. Red and yellow because the green ones will give it a "grassy" taste. It's going to taste sweeet. Maybe stir in a handful of cooked rice at the end to thicken it.
If made outside in a cauldron, it will get an amazing smoky taste

This is not the original way of cooking the recipe. First of all you should always use a fresh green onion and always it’s made with mixed green and red peppers pre cooked and skinned. The cheese is goat. This is a small portion of the recipe but even with those adjustments you will get a small portion of the original taste.

    • @howtomakedinner
      @howtomakedinner  Месяц назад
