Thanks for all of your content. I've been a subscriber/watcher of your videos for a couple of years now. We are currently on our first set of chickens (purchased 4 chicks in the Spring, unfortunately only have 3 left). I have been trying to convince my fiancée to let me get a goose to help protect our chickens. Losing the one over the Summer, of course it happened to be my favorite/most friendly one, REALLY got to me. Of course we have a coop and a small covered run, but I also let them out to free range inside of our fenced in backyard (we have 2.5 acres on this particular property, but don't know exactly how much is the backyard. We have a decent sized unfenced front yard, but I'd guess most is in the back), and every day before I let them out I have to go out and check the sky for hawks, as we have tons where we live. Of course we have coyotes, foxes, and all the others (in the state of Georgia), but my hope is that a goose would help guard against aerial predators. We have two dogs, including a Great Pyrenees/Merema Sheepdog/Anatolian Shepherd mix, but the year we got him, specifically to guard the chickens, my mother passed, so getting the chickens was pushed back a year and he's basically just an XL house pet. But him and our terrier mix do a decent job keeping ground predators out of our fenced in yard. Apologize for being so long, just wanted to give a little background. Is a fenced in backyard, I would guess it makes up at leat 1.5 of our 2.5 acres, be a large enough space for this, or any other breed of goose? Also, any tips on how I might convince my lady into getting a goose. She thinks they'll all be mean and be chasing us and the kids (no small children, 12 year old triplet girls and a 17 year old boy) all over the yard any time we try to go outside. I know some can be like that, but know that not all are. Also, for a "guard goose" for chickens, would a male or female make any difference. We plan on getting more chickens this Spring, but are still trying to decide if we want to stay strictly to hens, or attempt to get a rooster. Sorry, for so many questions, but I'm a city kid who grew up in Miami, Fl. townhome communities, now at 49 years old finding a love for gardening, raising chickens and possibly some other stuff, but everything needs a purpose. Oh, we also don't know if we'll ever get to where we, as a family, could eat anything that we raised. I know, that's a bit insane since we eat a good bit of meat, especially chicken, but unless that day becomes absolutely necessary, we probably won't be eating any of our poultry.
Nice looking geese. I've got lavender gems and I was looking at some eggs and low and behold I have a pink egg. Thanks to your videos I now known all about colored eggs. I was tickled pink. Thanks
Good morning. I've been trying for a good breed for small homesteading. As I only have less than an acre to play with. Your videos are invaluable to me. Thank you
The stature of this goose reminds me of the rare cotton patch geese I acquired last spring. The males being white and the females white with a large grey body patch. The bills and feet are a pinkish orange. They are very calm and not aggressive at all.
We never stop working and never take vacations! Okay...that isn't true. We just record early and schedule some videos to post to RUclips at a later date while we relax! 😉
Good morning. Thanks

Wait, what!?
Even in the Christmas New Year's week?
Very nice, indeed.
