Switches was a thing here in Indiana too. My mom always had a switch playing around. I knowed my mom loves us, But we deserve those switchins. But if my mom was Raising this on this day and age, She'd probably be brought up on charges for child abuse, But I was blessed with the good mommy and daddy, There was 12 of us kids grown up.
Ok, so about this Holly, Jolly Christmas theme...OMG! This was my traditional Christmas fix!!!! It is everything!!!!! There was utter joy on my face throughout the entire video. Ya'll talking about switches, fly swatters and wooden spoons had me in tears😂! I was um, let's say, a difficult child, so I experienced all three😁. And just when I think David can't possibly add more to a tree, he's like his Heavenly Father...he makes a way😂! I absolutely love this theme and this tree!!!
Californian here! Switches are a Southern thing that has travelled!!! I was whipped with switches off our apricot tree from our backyard (AND my aunt's apricot tree). My mom carried a switch in her purse for public discipline. (The more I type, the more this sounds like something I should unpack in a therapy session.)
I've been known to stand looking at ribbons longer than ornaments (drives my kids crazy) so I completely understand and think your "Holly Jolly" ones are outstanding! Each time you decorate a tree you amaze me, so much fun!

Switches are not anything I ever heard of here in Ohio. I think it is a southern thing. I loved learning a new ribbon technique. It has been a struggle, but God has been faithful to us every step of the way. We also had a flood in 2019 and lost almost everything, so 2020 was like starting over...and then we had the pandemic. Believing better days are ahead! ❤️

I too am addicted to ribbon and now I can get more, different ribbons on the tree! I too work in retail and this supply chain mess is so frustrating after everything the world has gone through since 2020! I’ve decorated my traditional 9 ft tree in this red & light green for the last 2 years! I’ve used ribbons, picks and a million ornaments but I’ve never added the greenery! I too had to go pick a switch to get spanked! My son, now 28 never saw a switch but I did carry a ruler to correct him if he got out of hand! Lol

Although I decorate my trees differently, as far as decorations go....I really like this tree more than I thought I would... the color combo is lovely and timeless/classic. Using picks and extenders is definately, a unique idea....and using a tree as a 'base' where the decorations are the star of the show is a neat concept as well.

David & Jenn thank you so much for your great tree decorating videos! I learn more every time! This was the best video on applying ribbon to a tree! David made it so simple! I too am addicted to ribbon and now I can get more, different ribbons on the tree! I too work in retail and this supply chain mess is so frustrating after everything the world has gone through since 2020! I’ve decorated my traditional 9 ft tree in this red & light green for the last 2 years! I’ve used ribbons, picks and a million ornaments but I’ve never added the greenery! I too had to go pick a switch to get spanked! My son, now 28 never saw a switch but I did carry a ruler to correct him if he got out of hand! Lol

I can relate to your liking ribbon. I can’t pass up buying beautiful ribbon. You never have enough. I have a ribbon stash and a fabric stash. 🌲
Although I decorate my trees differently, as far as decorations go....I really like this tree more than I thought I would... the color combo is lovely and timeless/classic. Using picks and extenders is definately, a unique idea....and using a tree as a 'base' where the decorations are the star of the show is a neat concept as well.

I so remember having to pick my own switch. There was a huge forsythia bush right outside at the end of our porch. I so dreaded those words to go get me a switch. On the other hand my sister use to laugh when she got a switch. Agree. It taught me right from wrong

I grew up on a farm in California and had to get a switch out of the field when I disobeyed. 😉🤣. I learned quickly not to do things that rewarded a switch.... I think that was the purpose. 😉
