- We hauled a load from Ontario, California up north to Tracy, California. We had Little Ceasar's Crazy Bread in the reefer and we made a decent little rate by the mile for the journey. We also get into the weekly review as this week was a short one due to preparations for my cross country trip this weekend! Check back often to see how the trucking business is doing and see how the Peterbilt 389 is running!

+ or - 5 degrees on the unit is acceptable unless your hauling berries. If they put a tattle tail inside just adjust unit to hit your temp.

Wassup man I been a big fan of watching your videos and I been dreaming of getting my own truck and becoming an owner operator. I was just wondering if you have any suggestions on where to start and how I can finance to own. As well as what to look out for so I don’t put myself in any bad situations.
Yeah, I did a stint as an owner operator at a carrier... I would try to find a carrier that treats its owner ops good and get your truck while being leased on. Alot of mid-sized local carriers will help with breakdowns, and repairs to help mitigate the risk if you don't have a ton of cash laying around for reserves.

You should research van loads that can also go inside your reefer trailer. Lots of van loads don't need to be stacked high and will fit in your reefer. At the very least, it will increase the options you have from brokers.
Alot of brokers will post those loads as van/reefer loads. The problem is van loads usually don't pay as good as reefer loads.
@@Velox18 That can be true, but time is money. If you can take a van load and get in and out in less than 2 hrs, and get reloaded, it beats sitting in a dock for hours on end at bottom of the barrel prices for detention.
I just thought it would bring increased options to look at all available loads, instead of limiting yourself. Also, maybe check into other load boards, like 123 loadboard and other popular apps maybe? Just suggestions, that's all.

I guess I was only worth 1600 today. Lol. I thought about playing chicken with them and trying to get my 2k but I decided to book an easy load for 200 bucks less than I wanted so I wouldn't have to settle for a TQL load going 500 miles for 1200 bucks (which has happened before, lol)
Looking at that trip, there’s a load today for 1195 coming from Reno area back to SF area of Cali…I’d have taken that!! Almost 5k, I’m just sayin….
Yeah, the Reno lane is weird but that would definitely be a profitable run.

I drove company reefer and quit after 6 months because of no retention pay. you find as an O OPP you get served faster? I waited up to a day and a half sometimes but on average 2 to 8 hours.
Not really. I've had the same thing happen when I was running dry van too. It's a world of difference from when I ran dedicated hazmat tankers locally. I would be upset if it took more than 45 minutes to get loaded and more than 30 to unload. We were on a racetrack compared to this stuff, lol.

@@powshredder3716 I get paid the same lame detention pay that most carriers pay they're lease drivers. $30-50 per hour after 2 or 3 free hours. Once I get more experience I'll be negotiating better detention rates because those are ridiculous for a business owner. My time is worth so much more than $10/ hour, lol.

It's a little dusty and still has some streaks from the wash. Tired of the truck wash leaving so much residue on it though. Gonna use a mobile guy from now on
Better find a good mobile guy. One mobile guy I’ve used is worse than the truck wash. Take a trip down south to little sisters or one of those good washes

But straight up with you all of them are liars , he got 11 somthing in to it i here that a lot even back in the day but he panned it to you for 1600,

Yeah... I knew when he didn't jump right then that it would be a waiting game to get my price so I decided getting that specific load was worth the $200 I was giving up. I could have played chicken with him but all the loads on the board were trying to move for cheap on Wednesday. I bet Thursday/Friday the rates will be way up.

Would have liked to get more than 1600 but I wanted that load more than the others. And yes, I can afford to take a 2 night vacation 30 minutes from my house... we went to great wolf lodge and we got a great deal because we booked it during the height of the corona virus closures.... oh yeah, and we used our govt stimulus check... so yeah... I can afford it.
