Albania's INSANE Transformation - Where's All This Money Coming From?!

- Albania is a country that was closed off completely to the outside world until the late 90s.. You can see remnants of the dark communist past everywhere you go. In this video, I take you from Kruje in the mountains to the outskirts of Vlore on the beautiful coast.. Our end goal was the secret submarine base that the Albanians stole from the Soviets - but what I found on our way surprised me.

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 RUclips videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

In the 2nd part of this video we will discover a top secret location that very few tourists visit before heading into the cold and mysterious mountains in the south of the country.. I hope you're liking this series so far - something different. Take care everyone!
Let’s gooo!! 🎉 mate when your in the uk, you’ll see how expensive gas is :/
Many Americans are living in Albania now because of the low cost of living and they give easy permanent residence aswell.
I met many Albanian Americans it was so nice
Albania was electrified on 1975 . Every village had electricity.
Yes they had Electricity during Communism in Albania. Lol.
This transformation should've happened a long time ago, if the politicians who took over after the fall of communism would not aid into the destruction of what was already built by the people with their volunteer almost like slave work for 50 years and the 1997 pyramid scheme allowed by previous criminal government where everyone lost their money and civil war erupted. Poor Albanian people have been working hard everywhere and are coming back to invest in their own homeland now, cause before there was a mess with basic security as well. Now it's safer than anywhere else in world for the general population. Thanks for coming to Albania!
Great video
Thanks dude

So much work going on and so much coast the country has. From the Greek island of Corfu you can go on excursion to Albania, with clear weather you can see the island and vice versa.
Another good awesome video ❤❤❤
I really love 💕 your videos!!!

Elliott ,am thinking you are absolutely a cool dude
The construction boom along the Albanian Riviera is pretty wild! It's amazing to see so much development so quickly. Curious, how is this impacting the local culture?
that's an awesome view!
Love u guys
🫡 🇦🇱
We have been there to kruje. Beautiful it is. I loved it there. So much rugged countryside mixed in with old and new buildings. Albania is lovely
Just got back from Durrës. Love Albania.
Me too 😎 did you go to the mountains?
On the list for next time 🇦🇱 @@AdventureElliot
Elliott, you must visit the West of Ireland. For a linguistic adventure.
Albanian farmers are also dissatisfied with their products not being sold due to competition from the global south
Thanks for answering my question
11:22 she is saying that the hat really suits you (looks good on you)
I film walking videos for my youtube. But I am too shy to speak on camera. Can you give me some advice please🙏
Btw there is scanderbeg statues all over Europe, dude did beat the shit out the ottomans, and the ottomans only got Albania after his death from malaria, he was declared champion of christ and a lot of other titles from vatican, he also fought in italy for the king of naples and a lot of other stuff he did, he is a legend.
Also gas is expensive bcs of a lot of taxes we dont pay are into it
Thanks.
You weren't loving thay beef stew bro 😂

@@AdventureElliot you are welcome anytime in our country
@@AdventureElliot when is going to be published?
ARGYROKASTRO:the silver castle in Greek-the first name of the city
@@johnavlakiotis the name of the city comes from the Albanian well known trybe Gjin Zenebishti...with the evil influence of grek which are weak and they know it,,they change and steal everything...even the real name of the old city of gjirokastra...
Serbs without 🏖️ are coping BIG TIME 🤗🤗🤗
Mirupushim that is so funny 😂😂
Liked นะครับ..
Nice video Elliot. I appreciate your good publicity for my country .
But I don’t like you letting a Greek calling us pathetic I the comments and not letting me give him the reply he deserves 😅😅
From hard work
The answer to the development we see everywhere atm. Study the 500 year global 18.6 yr land real estate cycle. The 18.6-Year Cycle: A Historical Overview: The cycle, as theorized by Fred E. Foldvary, suggests a rhythmic ebb and flow in the real estate market every 18 to 20 years. Traditionally, this cycle encompasses four phases: recovery, expansion, hyper supply, and recession.

Petrol is very expensive in albania. I see u not informed albania is not living on agricultural but on white powder. Thats y u see so much construction and no young people around

The new investments are coming from
Somewhere 🤣
No hand grenades in flea market?😅
Perhaps.. I didn’t look closely enough
@Elliot, reach out if you want some more accurate history infos :)
Elliot....
Such an underrated country. I've been three times now and will definitely be back! A lot of the new money flowing back in is from people working braod doing both legal andnot so legal "business" ;-). But ya know, where there's demand for certain not so legal things in other countries, Albania is cashing in and why shouldn't they? Great people - very friendly & welcoming but I really wouldn't wanna get on the wrong side of one of the mafia guys.
They deserve the best

Our recent politicians are just a joke.. You gotta crack a joke in order to to speak about them LOL
The Bush Family is distantly related to the Albanian King Zog family & that makes Bush Presidents 1 & 2 very much likeable in Albania.
American Born Albanian Blooded Pop Star AVA MAX Was Born & Raised In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S. (1994) She became world famous with her hit song "Sweet But Psycho!"
Ava Max's Albanian blooded parents are from Albania; her father, Paul is from Qeparo, Albania and her mother, Andrea, is from Sarandë, Albania.
I strongly recommend that you read 'THE ALBANIANS An Ethnic History from Prehistoric Times to the Present' by Edwin E. Jacques who is American born of mixed English/French ethnicity.
I didn’t know that, thanks!
We love American people and 🇺🇸 🇺🇲 And UK 🇬🇧
5:38 Don't know but I find it pathetic that there are so many american flags, buildings named after George Bush or children having names of american politicians. In Greece those things are not well seen...
I was surprised too.. But Greece doesn't have the alliance that Albania has with the U.S.
@@AdventureElliot of course not! US helped the albanians in the Kosovo War, killing serbs and make them move away from their land so albanians see them like liberators. Greece and Serbia traditionally have excellent bilateral relations, I never forget how good and gentle were the people of Belgrade when I visited the country back in 1996, three years before the bombardment of the city by the government of Bill Clinton.
@@_juan.joao_ the balkans are a touchy topic .. I’ve never seen a place with so many alliances as well as enemies close by. Until I visit Serbia I can’t say anything about them but in general, if you leave politics aside, every Balkan country has something wonderful to offer..
There is nothing pathetic about that, after all USA saved us from extinction by our “dear “ neighbors namely Serbs and you Greeks.
What is pathetic is that in every video that promotes Albania there will be a Greek or Serbian talking bullshit in the comments .
Better siding with the USA than Russia (like Greeks do in secret 😉) 🇦🇱🇺🇸
@@AdventureElliot of course, there's so much history, diversity, culture - we are the crossroads of the (ancient) world!
welcome to my country bro
George bush is albanian
🎉 Nice video. I hope in the future, my Small Travel Channel can grow yours. Maby you have some tips? 😢
showing your face and personality will get people to be more engaged and likely to follow you
Whoever talks to you about the Albanian mafia and for you to be careful where you walk should be nothing to worry about as usually it’s those tiktok warriors.
Is Albania better than Spain?
In some regards yes.. insanely cheap, just as friendly of people maybe more friendly, and all the beautiful nature is accesible and close.. beaches right next to mountains.. I think the food is better as well but that’s debatable
@@AdventureElliot No car needed? Byw I was just in Greece and that was so amazing!
Respect for American 🇦🇱🤝🏻🇺🇸
Skenderbeg was Serb !!!!
😂😂
And the reason Serbia hasn’t built Skanderbeg a statue yet in middle of Belgrade is … ?🤗
Hahaha serbian dream . Come on vollodya go on dreaming its costless . Ptuuuuu robqir kaukazi
yeah so was Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jesus, Unicorns and rainbows
@@user-irj1nxa3cof2z and also the reason Scanderbeg loved them so much that he burned their villages to the ground, and signed in all his correspondence 'the lord of Albanians', but sure he was a Serb 🙂
