A lot of people hate the fact that Winnie doesn't drink from the fountain, but I think it is beautiful that she gets to experience life the way it's supposed to be experienced. Growing old and wise, becoming a grandparent, and all the rest. And I think that is ultimately what Jesse would have wanted for her, even though he is still sad that she is dead. Like Tuck said, you can't have living without dying.
I'll admit it that I'm one of those people who wished that Winnie had drank the water, but I still like the message that it sends. I like the book and movie as separate things. One thing that I like better in the movie is that Jesse finds Winnie's grave. It broke my heart in the book when his parents are the first to find out and I always wondered how they told him.
it was kinda funny when they met cuz Jesse was all calm drinking water and then when he saw Winnie he be like "OH SHOOT I DIDN'T SEE HER THERE NOW SHE KNOW" ;-;
I grew up in Northern Maryland 5 min from where most scenes of this movie was filmed! The waterfall is very popular during the summer months. The log that they walked across the waterfall was standing there for almost 2 deccades
It was her decision. She knew it would be hard to live her life forever, even if by side of Jesse. How would you spend the eternity? I agree w/ father Tuck.
Richard Wyant all of the teeny romance scenes made this movie a lot lamer than I wanted it to be!! The overall story has stuck with me and I wanna show ppl but the movie is so cheesy and bad in places that I don’t want to😂 I wish they hadn’t made it so, the romance could have been done so much better :(
My name is Winnie believe it or not. Its a pretty uncommon name but I knew an old lady named Winnie but she died, at least I knew I wasnt the only one :)
@lll513x In a way. She WAS only ten, so there wasn't any big romance. When she first met him, it stated that she lost her heart though and he did propose. It's difficult to say. You'd have to read the book
so what if the movie isn't like the book? A teenage love story beats a freaky child who talks to a frog any day, in my eyes! I love it. Makes me happy :)
once you get what the meaning is about, it's not boring. this movie CAN be boring. but if you reall REALLY think about the movie, you'll think it's beautiful and very VERY meaningful.just think...
before I answer this I just want to say that I didn't watch the movie so I don't know if what I am telling you happened in the movie but.... In the book Jessie gives Winnie some of the water from the spring (in the book she is only 10) and she is suppose to drink it when she get's older (17) so they can live together forever but then she doesn't drink it, get's married, and has kids! Does this answer you question? I hope so ☻
Everyone wants that forever life. If it was all romance and beautiful forests then fine, lol. But it wouldnt be. Plus things get old. You would watch your family grow old and die. Things would change around you. You would always have to keep moving and running. Forests get torn down. You would never know what happens when you die. Part of life is death. No matter how scary it is. I wouldnt drink the water. I mean I cant say for sure but I dont think I would. What if Earth explodes?
ya,but she 10 yrs old in the book and jessie is 17 in the book so he told her when she turns 17 to drink the water but sadly she didnt and i started crying when i read that. but she was in love with him tho
as far as i remember. they did actually ask him but he turned it down because he didn't have time ATM. He were already shooting "Catch me if you can" and "gangs of NYC" at that time
Narrator: Winnie Foster was to be sent 500 miles away to be educated. But what her parents didn't understand; she only wanted to step just outside her fence. Me: I felt so bad for Winnie. Her parents, especially her mother could have been a bit more understanding for her.
hey Selena98765 she didn't pour it on the toad she was only11 she did it because a dog was trying to catch the toad!!!! +she thought she could always get more when she is 17!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)
Man, my class is going to be SO confused about this. we're reading the book, and when we finish the book, we'll be watching the movie. SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE 11!!
That family better spend a cople centuries getting space exploration in order. When the earth is finally destroyed by the sun's death expansion, they are gonna reform in the middle of outer space, that wont be pretty and its eternal. Better hope technology opens the way to a new habitable planet. Im just saying......

+Rachel Brown I read the book, but have never seen the movie. Even in the book, she doesn't drink from the fountain.

Let's hope Jesse meets a decendent that looks like her
I thought it was kind of sad when Jesse came to see her at rhe wnd but she was dead.
ikr if winnie drank the spring water that would completely erase the theme of the book
What a beautiful movie. I was totally blown away when I saw this for the first time.

I'm reading the book in Language arts, and yes, Winnie falls for Jesse when she first sees him in the woods, and she is 10, almost 11, when it happened
It was her decision. She knew it would be hard to live her life forever, even if by side of Jesse. How would you spend the eternity? I agree w/ father Tuck.
OMG I say the movie today and Noé is one of the best movies i habed watched!!!☺️☺️☺️
Seven years later..
If you read the book then you know the movie was nothing like it. Hollywood turned a beautiful story into a teen romance flick.
They should do a modern remake how would you like that?
Richard Wyant yes
I finished the book today it was AMAZING!!!!!!!! I LOVED it!
Yeah you’re right because I read the book and it’s wayyyy different
Richard Wyant all of the teeny romance scenes made this movie a lot lamer than I wanted it to be!! The overall story has stuck with me and I wanna show ppl but the movie is so cheesy and bad in places that I don’t want to😂 I wish they hadn’t made it so, the romance could have been done so much better :(

Winnie Didn't Drink From The Spring
before I answer this I just want to say that I didn't watch the movie so I don't know if what I am telling you happened in the movie but.... Does this answer you question?
I hope so ☻
I read this book but I was shocked when I saw the pictures and what it all looked liked
i read the book and saw a different movie about this (in the movie I saw it was WAYY different)
Everyone wants that forever life. If it was all romance and beautiful forests then fine, lol. But it wouldnt be. Plus things get old. You would watch your family grow old and die. Things would change around you. You would always have to keep moving and running. Forests get torn down. You would never know what happens when you die. Part of life is death. alexis bledel went to my highschool
And thus began one of the greatest & most poignant love stories in American cinematic history
ya,but she 10 yrs old in the book and jessie is 17 in the book so he told her when she turns 17 to drink the water but sadly she didnt and i started crying when i read that. but she was in love with him tho

does anyone know where I can watch the whole movie online? I used to have it but I don't know where it is and I wanna watch it again :((
It's on Disney+
i like the book better
Me too
I love both
The 1981 version was faithful to the book but used a turtle instead of a toad.
my older brother Tuck
leonardo dicarpio shoulda played dat part....
as far as i remember. they did actually ask him but he turned it down because he didn't have time ATM. He were already shooting "Catch me if you can" and "gangs of NYC" at that time
CastellaTV Ouu I loveee catch me if you can! But I personally like the casting of this movie, but if Leo played it, it might have been bigger
where is the whole movie i REALLY WNT TO KNOW PLEASE ANYONE???????
It reminds me of Twilight
He couldn't deal with her growing old. Watching. It would be too much.
This movie came out after I turned 1 year old from 18 years ago.
does anyone know where i can see this movie? looks good!!
Ya Disney+
she was 15 or 16 when she filmed this. In the book shes supposed to be 10 but they made her older in the movie.
yes she does falll in love with jesse]
Now, why did Jessie wander all the way over to where the spring was to get a drink of water?
We just watched this in school after reading the book
what school do you go to
J Davs
why
Same but I'm reading the book I'm not suppose to look at the movie yet and I'm trying to find it I'm in chapter 20
+Justin Sloniger is the book worth it!?
Vanessa Pineda I don't really know, maybe.
Narrator: Winnie Foster was to be sent 500 miles away to be educated. But what her parents didn't understand; she only wanted to step just outside her fence.
Me: I felt so bad for Winnie. Her parents, especially her mother could have been a bit more understanding for her.
alexis bledel was 19 when the movie was filmed
eu adoraria se este filme fosse em portugues
me too. but now she's too old (26) to successfully portray 17. well actually... she does still look pretty young for her age. idk...
well i suppose they were making it more 'old fashioned'. but she looks pretty with any hairstyle
No she get's married, has kids and then in the end ( don't read if you don't want to know) dies.....
What scene is this
Really she is ten and Winnie falls in love with Jesse and he falls in love with her
will love u forever if u do!
hey Selena98765 she didn't pour it on the toad she was only11 she did it because a dog was trying to catch the toad!!!! +she thought she could always get more when she is 17!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)
im watching this in school [lol]
Man, my class is going to be SO confused about this. we're reading the book, and when we finish the book, we'll be watching the movie.
SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE 11!!
Hollywood: "Okay, I hear you, but just a thought; what if... she wasn't?"
Book Reader: "What?? But she *is!* "
Hollywood: "-n't."
shes not ten, shes thirteen im doin a report on this book, and winnie is 13! and jesse is 16
dayumm
im reading it too
lolz
i really hate the movie but love the book
why does she have to die? the book would have been better if she kept her promise and married him(im crying right now!)
That family better spend a cople centuries getting space exploration in order. When the earth is finally destroyed by the sun's death expansion, they are gonna reform in the middle of outer space, that wont be pretty and its eternal. Better hope technology opens the way to a new habitable planet. Im just saying......
she's 11 years old!
My class is watching the movie we are doing a report

I feel bad for miles at the ending because she marries jesse and not mile sorry for the spoiler alert
I thought mile already got married and have two children? But they said that his wife and children ran away.
Jesse doesn't marry Winnie...
does anyone else think alexis would've made an amazing bella (twilight) ?
i tought she was like 13 or 15.
But yeah i have the book and i just noticed that.

It says she is 10 going to 11.
