Thank you! to be honest the smell did my wifes head in so i got rid of the petrol and i now have a small parts washer, much better. yer the house is amazing we have been here for about 6 years now love it, thanks for watching
Ooh! First comment...😜 Another good episode Pete. Early days yet but have you considered a spin on oil filter conversion? The purists with no doubt be jumping up and down, but the original filter replacement is a bit of a fiddle. I fitted a modern type spin on oil filter conversion on my Maisie a while ago and I think it’s one of those things worth doing. I look forward to these vids every Sunday, we’re right with you matey!🤗👍
yer i have, to be fair the old ones look so much better, i couldnt resist stripping and painting the old filter holder, it looks great, but yes i would imagine we will go to the spin on type. do you follow us on facebook, i put daily updates
Good job again. Easy way of removing flywheel is to remove sump and put a block of wood in between crankshaft and engine casing to stop flywheel turning . Your way works, but just thinking of the consequences if you slipped off of the screwdriver (ouch) !! I have seen a lot worse flywheels than that one.
Lightened flywheel would make it more responsive to picking up revs but downside is it would be les# happy to idle smoothly. For a road car leave as is I would think. It’s the weight of it that keeps the momentum of the crank going. Think about race cars, sat still they keep blipping the throttle to keep the revs up and it running as they spend most of their time at high revs. A road car doesn’t, needs to be happy at idle say in queues, at lights etc. Just doing an engine strip myself so interesting to watch someone else doing a similar thing.
thanks for the info, what about wear ? i dont know what to look for realy, it seemed ok with no damage, what about the plate the clutch presses against it had a few scores in it ?
Project Mildred not sure on that, in same position myself. Depends I suppose if you are restoring it that far and replacing other parts of clutch maybe worth getting it faced at same time save having to pull it out again later.
These are such great videos nice work !
l know what you mean as l'm Dyslexic too turning the book upside down does make it a lot easier . enjoying the videos . Cheers .

Good video, as always. Next Amazon order I’d get some deep vinyl gloves, too. Gasoline will do a number on you. Love your old house, too.

yer it was a bugger of a job, it looked a bit easier on the video but real time it was a pain
