Love , Love , Love,, this video. Had me on the edge while you were driving downhill. I’ve driven on so many roads in Brazil but this was the most intense. Kudos , badge of honor to you both;) Enjoy 🌺🌺🌺
Absolutely do not change anything. I love traveling with you through the rain forests and the bird habitats. I wait for each episode and am never disappointed. Thank you for sharing!
You all doing all those forest trails, but have yet to cross with a snake. I am Brazilian, and I am normally very cautious when walking in Nature because of how often they appear. If you are being polite in not mentioning them, it is verry galant of you... but if you are not sensing their presence completely, it is time to start paying more attention and ask locals about them. Outside the cities in Brazil, where ever you can find preserved greenery, there also will be snakes.
The experience wouldn't be complete without there being a problem with the car and having to go to a dealership far from home and not being able to find the part 🤣🤣🤣🤣. But these Mercedez people are really good. Another part of the experience is discovering that talking about food is one of the ways to open doors for communication here in Brazil. And facing São Paulo traffic with a van is not for everyone. Congratulations on completing 90% of the training in just one trip. The countryside of the State of São Paulo also has beautiful and peaceful cities, with plenty of preserved natural life. Cheers!
Bom dia casal aventureiro! Vocês gostam muito de andar em matas, deveriam para isso ter botas de cano alto . A Mata Atlântica é berço de muitas cobras venenosas, e outros insetos peçonhentos. Se cuidem.

@@albertoalmeida3424 would be nice but it takes hours to get them ready to upload on you tube. That is time away from filming plus factor in driving time and sleeping and they need some "personal time too". That's very important in a relationship
If you had left São Paulo straight to the coast (east) instead of going North, there is a freeway, a big road linking the city to the beaches, that goes down that mountain very smoothly through a bunch of tunnels and bridges which feels like you're driving on the top of the canopies of the trees, very beautiful. It's a modern highway, with multiple lanes very well built and not steep at all because they built it in a way that the descent would be very smooth, and you'd also drive through a lot of nice beach towns along the way once at the bottom of Serra do Mar and start heading north towards Paraty.

I have to pop in and tell you that I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of your vlogs on this journey through the Atlantic forest and seeing those amazing birds has just been an absolute gift as I will never have the opportunity to see them for myself. Please never apologise for anything! You are giving us a trip of a lifetime. The experience you had with the toucans and the other birds who were eating the bananas from your hands was something else. Oh my gosh! That trip down the mountain was something else 😮 I am so thankful you made it down safely. Take care and will be looking out for the next episode. 🇿🇦❤️
It’s ok Snow..I get what your saying, and no apology is needed for me. The differences of the birds are fantasying. Thank you both for letting us be apart of your great journey. I know I’ll never see anything like this in my life time. The things y’all get to see is so..neat to me and I’m sure to others. And to have a bird sit on your hand, oh my..and the parrots. Pretty cool. Keep enjoying your journey.
Why would you apologize for bringing beauty to our lives? Yes we might see similar sites, but it’s never boring. Actually seeing similar scenes is refreshing you’re not rushing us through the experience. I love your enthusiasm for the birds and your experiences. That yellow headed wood pecker was amazing. So were the toucans. How special to feed so many wild birds.
Coming down that mountain was seriously scary. My family use to travel on a curvy, steep mountain road that was only a few miles long but I still have dreams about it. The birds in this vlog were awesome!
Different cattle because the different climate, brahma , nelore etc zebu cattle is more resistant to the dry time , parasites … as far north you go more zebu cattle you will find
Loved seeing all those beautiful birds. I would of loved being there and feeding them bananas as they sit on my hand (or head). Thanks you for really showing the birds, it was so enjoyable and peaceful to watch.
Hey Kurt and Snow! I'm a Brazilian American from Saint Augustine, Florida. I'm watching your video from here Ubatuba on our way to Rio, as my son and I are here in Brazil for a week. We're flying back this Saturday. Let me know if you need some new break pads to be sent to you from the US, I can find a way to help you with that. The next time you drive on a road like that, and you will from here to Rio, you have to use a lower gear of your transmitting. Shift it down to 2 or even 1 so that way you won't put all the load on the breaks. Great luck to you, and be safe my friends!
Thank you for exploring the Atlantic forests and all the birds. I love your videos and I love being able to journey with you both. Please don't feel a need to apologize. If others don't appreciate it, they are welcomed to skip it and watch later.😊
Parabéns vídeos maravilhosos. Muitos seguidores novos ainda não entenderam a vibe de vcs. Continuem a mostrar natureza, pássaros , animais, vida selvagem muito bom.
Wow, the gorgeous birds and forests, it would be so hard to leave that behind. And that mountain trip back down, I got anxiety from watching that decent! Thank you again for capturing your amazing journey and sharing.
Not sure if you did this, but it's important to engine brake when going down mountains. Use a lower gear all the way down. The engine helps to slow down the vehicle, preventing the brakes from overheating
How cool is this trip, man. This steep road you took is the famous Serra de Ubatuba. For those who are not used to it, it is really dangerous. Ubatuba is SENSATIONAL, it has more than 70 beaches, one more beautiful than the other. I saw that they are going to Paraty, a historic city, a beautiful place too. Have a good trip, I hope you enjoy it a lot. Big hug.
I dreamt about a parakeet a few nights ago. Odd. I don't think I would ever see the beautiful birds if not for your videos. I can't travel. I appreciate all nature. Brazil would be one of my first destinations if I could travel. I love the people.
Good morning Snow and Curt, Wow, loving all the amazing nature shots. Please, never apologize for spending your time enjoying what you guys love. We are lucky to be brought along on your epic journey, and I'm so happy you did! Sorry that road fried your brakes, that sucks. I hope you are able to get them replaced easily and cheaply 🤞 Safe travels, 🤗🇨🇦
Wow did you really just took that trailer through the Taubate serra?? I only took that road once. It would have been much safer AND prettier to take the serra to Caraguatatuba which is on the way to Paraty anyway. And it's just been renovated last year.
Your trip is amazing and we're thrilled you're taking us with you by providing videos at all. Of course there will be several back to back of the places you stay longer. That's just expected. Do not feel the need to apologize for giving us this wonderful adventure in any way you choose. The birds are absolutely gorgeous. How fun that they kept landing on you! And that gas station restaurant and market was like nothing I've ever seen before in my life. They'd put 7-11 out of business if they opened in the States. Thank goodness you made it down that mountain safely. That looked scary. Thanks for another great episode.
I am loving your journey here in Brazil. It makes me feel home, remind me a lot of my childhood trips enjoying simple life. If you need a Van part that we do not have in Brazil, I would recommend calling to a Mercedes dealer like in Rio de Janeiro (or any other upcoming city) for shipping it before you get there.
Many travelers keep in touch with their own mechanic or the brand representative (Mercedes) in their home country and from there ask them to send the parts they need to a local Mercedes or even a hotel. There's a bit of planning...
❤❤❤❤ Oh, my goodness, how beautiful don't ever apologize. For bringing us to such beautiful places. Those birds are beautiful in nature and not in a cage aren't they? 😂 I am not sure who enjoyed your video more. Me or my cat, he was so engrossed in those birds..lol His name is buddy, he is totally black. He said on the edge of the couch and stares at TV for the longest tight curvy roads. We also think it's going to be down in elevation His name is buddy, he is totally black. He sat on the edge of the couch and stares !!!❤
Hey guys, what a nice view from the mountains. I really miss the feeling of going down those roads, sometimes feeling like going down a wall. Btw, I need to give a crucial warning, Google is not that reliable on giving directions in Brazil. So if you heading to specific places you better getting some orientation from some local, cuz there is always some some road that you get better off avoiding for many reason, Brazil is famous for contrasts and some of those are not the most pleasant if you get what I mean.
Wonderful! To avoid problems like those with the brakes, I recommend driving on the highways, they may not be as beautiful, but they are safer. In the Paraty region I recommend the village of Trindade, with great beaches and waterfalls. In the state of Rio de Janeiro there is also the Itatiaia national park, the first national park in Brazil, which I highly recommend.
Snow an Curt Absolutely Loved every second of this Video. What an Amazing Adventure this Video was to me the Heart Beat of your Journey. The Birds an the interaction you guys have... Beautiful... Your Videos are by far the BEST of the BEST of any other Utube Videos out there you bring it all to the viewers. No need to apologize. This is your alls channel for one. Secondly you all are kind enough to take us along for the ride. Whatever you all film, I’m pretty sure the majority of us will always watch.
Can’t imagine anyone complaining about the bird watching. I am not a bird person but the birds are beautiful and this is your journey. So happy to get to go along.
Wow Wow Wow another great video. After seeing these last two videos I do not know how you could ever want to go any further. The wildlife, the forests, the beaches, the people, the foods, the economy. I would love to stay in Brazil forever.
No need to apologize. I, for one am enjoying your travels. Those beautiful birds! And such nice people at the Mercedes dealership. Hope your brakes don't take too much repair. I so look forward to your videos! 😊❤
No need to apologize. We choose to watch. If you don’t enjoy the content, with channels. Your vlogs are brilliant. Just keep doing what you are doing. The birds were amazing. WOW. Thank you for taking us along. ❤
What an adventure, it's a pity you didn't go on another road that's more used, it goes down the Serra do Mar and enters the city of Caraguatatuba, it doesn't have those winding curves... it would be an opportunity to get to know another city, and go towards the city of Paraty in a more peaceful way, without any scares!!! I wish you good rides!!!
I thought I saw a flame coming from that wheel,I hope the brake was ok ! The green of those little birds was almost fluorescent,i do not believe that color could be achieved in captivity . Beautiful trip, never apologize for taking your time,we are just lucky to tag along.
you should have gone down the Rodovia dos Imigrantes from São Paulo to Santos and hop up the coast up to Ubatuba. It's a beautiful long road with a moderate slope for semis. The van would have thanked you.
Some of these roads were trails used by megafauna during the Pleistocene. They were then used by indigenous peoples for thousands of years. Later, they were used by colonists to transport gold and other wealth to the coast. Now, they are just challenging roads for travelers and adventurers... These roads await some stories 😂
I would like to give you some advice, maybe? Be careful with the city of Rio de Janeiro and its metropolitan region! Unfortunately, it is very dangerous! If i were you, I stayed away from these places.
7:31 😂how cool!! I’ve sat for hours with a feeder just to get hummingbirds to come close! Such cool birds, I loved the variety of toucans!! By the way, I love the videos when you stay in place for a while because it really shows us viewers more of the area instead of just passing through no apologies needed here!! Cheers guys😊
0:25 FYI. The Atlantic Forest is very beautiful and quite unique indeed. But there's a very similar forest type (vegetation wise) in New Zealand. By watching your videos, I'm very happy to see you had so many good experiences while visiting the southern part of Brazil. It's a bit unfortunately that you got the rainy season while visiting my state (Rio Grande do Sul), because the Taim Ecological Station would be a truly wonderful place for bird spotting in the right season (lots of migratory type of birds there).
Kurt, is your van AT or MT? I ask you this, because I don't know how much the van weights, but if it's a MT, you should stick to 2nd or 3rd gear for downhills and use what we call "engine brake", which means to use the resistance of the inner gears to actually restrain the vehicle speed and make it less stressful for the brake pads, drums or rotors. I believe that as overlanders you must know about it, and if you don't, then it's an auto tip for you guys and everyone else.
We love your videos and the birds are gorgeous!!! More birds please lol. And I just learned that there is an Annular Eclipse on Oct 14 (ring of fire) that will pass over part of northern Brazil...wanted to mention it in case you were going to be near the total eclipse area....what fun if you caught that too! But as always be careful of your eyes. This SWFL couple vote you as our Favorite channel!!
This was a truly special video! I loved seeing all the birds, especially the toucans and that wonderful wood pecker. The buffet at the gas station was incredible. And that road! Yikes! You certainly don’t need to apologize for “too many birds”. It’s your adventure and I feel so grateful that you are sharing it with all of us! Good luck with getting your brakes taken care of. Safe journey ahead!
Hi guys , please don’t feel bad about the videos !! I 😊 literally travel with you. I enjoy so much nature . I can’t do this , so happy I found someone that can do it for me . Enjoy life while you can . I have the money to travel but I am tight up with responsibilities. Snow and Curt keep up the amazing work !! 💕🙏🤗 Love you guys
I truly hope you keep showing these videos because I'm not a "bird watcher", but I'm an ALL species lover and love researching all the information you share that I may not know about, or have not heard of. Between the beauty, your music, and all the beautiful people you share with us, 8 can assure you, no need for apologies!!!
I've learned so much and to see such beauty Brazil offers I grow. I just didn't know how much I didn't know. You two did that for me. This place deserves your time. Take it unapologetically.
I love the bird videos! I love watching my backyard birds and get a kick out of how excited you both get over the different birds you have found. Are you keeping a list of all the birds that you have seen so far on this journey? Thanks for sharing your adventures :)
The descent of the mountain between São José dos Campos and Caraguatatuba is gentler, with more open curves and more tracks than the one you descended. It's the main route used by Brazilians.
Your videos are wonderful! I love what you share. Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us. Watching both of you feed the birds was cool. That toucan on Snow’s arm was amazing. Have a great day and rest if the week. 😉🤗
Wow!!! What an adventure!!! Who could get tired of those beauties? How special that you got to actually sit and have the birds feeding from your hands!!! Just beautiful!!! Was glad that you were taken care of at the Mercedes dealership! And cool hats were a plus! I would have loved to have eaten at that buffet! Wow, never seen anything like that here! Wow! Now that mountain road descent was tough! Bet that was a headache maker. Hope the brakes are ok 🙏. And Gee Money posing on the rock at the end was priceless!❤ That was a really packed full adventure! Thank you!!
That trip down the switch backed mountain reminded me of a trip I took when I was 19. Drive up the coast highway from LA to San Francisco and back. We had to get new brakes after that trip. It was so scary to a girl from flat lands. People were long lines with no pull outs and they all we wanting to go 70 mph. Every curve out I thought we were going to go off a cliff and into the ocean. Exhausting.
I love seeing all the birds wow I have had Canadian-Jay's eat out of my hand and it was awesome :) The trust they have in you is amazing and most of the birds down there are not in Canada . So much beauty -- Thank you for taking me a long. Mad love from the east coast of Canada :)
I really enjoyed following your trip and learning about your experiences in Brazil. It's very nice to see you discovering and describing our country, observing the beauties and also the not-so-beautiful things, here is a rich country, with good people and vast nature, there are many secret places everywhere with lots of nature and beautiful places to be discovered. Between Ubatuba and Paraty there are many places worth seeing and discovering. A big hug and stay well.
Yikes! That was scary! I was holding my breath…what an amazing place with the birds. I would have found that hard to leave! This spring we had ceramic brakes with perforated carbon steel rotors put on the front of our Roadtrek. It is supposed to prevent brakes from heating up. Crossing fingers they work! Stay safe!
Once in a lifetime travel day for sure. That road! I’m with you Snow, I kept saying ‘Don’t fail me now’ and not sure if I meant the brakes or God 😉 it was obviously an answer from above and Curt’s patience to stop. Safe travels, Cheers 😊🤗
Great video. Brazil has many scenic roads dropping from the southern highlands down to the coastline. The most famous is probably the "Rio do Rastro" road at the Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina states border, with a drop of 980 meters (some 3,200 ft) in just 15 kilometers or 9.3 miles. Some busses actually need to stop, back up in reverse and maneuver a few times (occupying both lanes!) to negotiate some of the turns. All the while next to sheer cliffs. Adventurous stuff.
These types of Parakeets are everywhere here in Sao Paulo even here in the concrete jungle, I live in the south zone of the city and I see a lot of them sitting either in a house next to mine or a tree in a little park nearby, there’s also some type of bird of prey that comes and go every week, its cry is so loud and beautiful it looks like a little hawk, but I don’t know birds to tell. But I wake up every morning with Bem-te-vi (kiskadee)singing
Well, I can only speak for myself but I'm loving to see the Atlantic Forrest through your eyes. By the way, squirrels? I had absolutely no idea you could find squirrels in Brazil. I loved to watch the squirrels when I lived in Europe and later in the US exactly because I had never seen any in Brazil. Thank you! :)
@@WilliamSantos-cv8rrnah there are still squirrels in Curitiba for example, not in the downtown but in woods around the city you still find lots of them.
In the Cantareira Mountain Range, just north of the city of SP, squirrels are not an uncommon sight. I lived in Mairiporã, right in the middle of Cantareira, and the wildlife is exuberant there. Or at least it used to be 50 years ago.
You guys have amazing footage of the birds! Love it! You should have gone through the Tamoios road and stop at the North Coast of SP, like São Sebastião and Caragua... I have to say, u guys missed the most beautiful region of the state.... oh well.... Rio is amazing too.... but you should've!
Curt and Snow, you, like all Americans, need to learn how to use "Engine Braking", you MUST use "Engine Braking" on slope roads. With Engine Braking, you almost don't need to use the brakes.
Don't apologize! I am 71 and my husband has a lot of medical problems, so no more trips for us probably. It is wonderful to travel vicariously through both of you! Take your time anywhere!

What a special bird feeding!!! Wow! It must have felt amazing to have them land on you!
Big hug.
Don’t apologize!! This is your life and journey and I’m so glad you have invited us along!!! You also play such beautiful music!
Thank you so much!!
I could study the possibility of changing the box where the air filter is located to make it compatible with air filters in Brazil.
Fuel filter, not the air filter.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful landscape and birds with us! Brave Snow feeding that giant beak! :-)
The birds in the last few videos have been exquisite!! I've never seen (and may never see in person) such wondrous beauties. What a treat!😍
Me or my cat, he was so engrossed in those birds..lol
His name is buddy, he is totally black. He said on the edge of the couch and stares at TV for the longest tight curvy roads. We also think it's going to be down in elevation His name is buddy, he is totally black. He sat on the edge of the couch and stares !!!❤
You should see Vanna when we are trying to edit the bird videos!! She is all over our laps! LOL --- tell Buddy we say HI!
From now to Upwards in Brazil, it begins to become Dangerous, in criminality.
Never Apologize for your content it's your Journey an we All Love you guys for that you keep it real an how Amazing it that.
Thank you for bringing the Love of Brazil to the World to see an So Enjoy..
🌿💕👍💕🌿
I have Fallen in LOVE with Brazil from your watching your Videos Oh how I would Love to Visit it's Magical..
Thank you so much 😊
Aww snow & Curt lovely to see the difference species of bird they r so beautiful thank you for taking use along with you ❤️
What an adventure, it's a pity you didn't go on another road that's more used, it goes down the Serra do Mar and enters the city of Caraguatatuba, it doesn't have those winding curves... it would be an opportunity to get to know another city, and go towards the city of Paraty in a more peaceful way, without any scares!!! I wish you good rides!!!
Essas músicas que vocês têm pra colocar nos vídeos são lindas. Ouço as músicas e vejo a legenda. Que maravilha! Muito obrigado.
I thought I saw a flame coming from that wheel,I hope the brake was ok ! The green of those little birds was almost fluorescent,i do not believe that color could be achieved in captivity . Beautiful trip, never apologize for taking your time,we are just lucky to tag along.
Friend, dont apologize!! What an incredible journey. I must admit, I do live vicariously through y'all!! Stay safe! ❤
Thank you so much!
you should have gone down the Rodovia dos Imigrantes from São Paulo to Santos and hop up the coast up to Ubatuba.
I am LOVING the region you are exploring. Do not apologize! ♥️🦜
Pay No attention to the Debby downers. The birds are awesome and one of my favorite parts.
Parabéns pela viagem e também gosto muito de pássaros soltos e livres.
Beautiful, just keep ‘em coming. Love your videos and honoured you share your adventures with us. Safe and happy travels. ❤
💕🙏🤗
Love you guys
I truly hope you keep showing these videos because I'm not a "bird watcher", but I'm an ALL species lover and love researching all the information you share that I may not know about, or have not heard of. Between the beauty, your music, and all the beautiful people you share with us, 8 can assure you, no need for apologies!!!
I've learned so much and to see such beauty Brazil offers I grow. I just didn't know how much I didn't know. You two did that for me. This place deserves your time. Take it unapologetically.
That was so scary. I didn’t know if you guys are really gonna make it down. So glad you did. Thank you for this amazing video.🙏🏻💙
I love the bird videos! I love watching my backyard birds and get a kick out of how excited you both get over the different birds you have found. Are you keeping a list of all the birds that you have seen so far on this journey? Thanks for sharing your adventures :)
100% no apology needed. Love your channel, no episode disappoints.
The serviceman reaction to sweet pastel was the same as mine lol I live in Minas Gerais and almost every pastel I ever ate was salty.
A emoção valeu a pena.
Eles Já foram em Ubatuba, talvez mostrem no próximo vídeo. Agora estão em Paraty pela 2a vez
Stay safe!
Bring on the birds....magical. Love. Hope the brakes are ok.
PUTZ, ELES DEVIAM TER DESCIDO PELO NOVA TAMOIOS, AGORA ELE ESTÁ EXCELENTE.
Escolheram a pior opção, infelizmente. Já fiz esse trajeto com carro pequeno, imagino o que é com uma van.
Two videos a week is not enough! 😛
Thank you! :)
They were quite common called ''Katinguelê'', yeah same name of the band, I heard they disapeard from big cities due to rats diseases.
@@WilliamSantos-cv8rrnah there are still squirrels in Curitiba for example, not in the downtown but in woods around the city you still find lots of them.
Many squirrels in Mantiqueira Mountains as well
They are also called "Serelepe" in the south.
Don't worry about , no need to apologize. Keep up with the great videos.
Curt and Snow, you, like all Americans, need to learn how to use "Engine Braking", you MUST use "Engine Braking" on slope roads. With Engine Braking, you almost don't need to use the brakes.
