M44 is OP in relation to its peers in other techtrees. I play it a lot. The first tank I max-out every battlepass season. 100 points takes less then 3 hours.
Edwan... You're not using the X key... That "stabilizes the gun" and - makes aiming faster, but you can move the aim only within the gun arc (which is very high in M44). Until you tap that key again or use WASD. Basically, you decide where you want to shoot then tap the X key and suddenly, the reticle shrinks faster. You'll se an icon in bottom left, close to where the crits you receive are displayed and it looks like a parking brake light in cars (exclamation mark). Once you notice aim time decreasing, tap it again to disengage. The faster aim is still on despite disengaging it and this way you can move the gun if you have to... It is also available in TDs, but here it is automatic; as soon as you enter sniper mode, gun stabilizing is on and you can't move the gun outside the gun arc. Check for the icon I mentioned next time you play a TD or enter settings and check keyboard. You'll notice predefined X key for gun stabilizing. It might have been patched out since it's been nearly 2 years since I quit playing WoT, but knowing WG... It's still in the game...
I think the reason why it can hit things behind mass amounts of cover, is because of its barrel, it isn't as long as most artillery pieces, so the round has more arc. This allows the M44 to simply elevate enough to lob it over buildings. At least that's my theory. If anyone wishes to correct me, I'll welcome it with open arms. (Just be polite about it.)

I remember being that arty player in the way of just shooting constantly. And funny enough i have no premium account and i would still make credits that probably only played it for that reason.
Honestly I enjoyed playing arta some times, thanks to Bobjects 279(e), Cheatains, Kranvagns. Wish you could play the M44 Against them :P The Brit T9 with the small gun comes close to the M44, at least with the fire rate. Still dirty with the perma stun and sometimes a relief when the hull down meta striks your motivation hard.
This is a sad reality. I know edvin does this just for fun, but there a probably hundreds of people who pay money just to set their artillery up with the best equipment like this. These people are also probably the people who play only OP arty like the M44 and Lef, never move from the spawn area, shoot nothing but gold HE shells, and suicide when their team starts losing. Like, I get grinding artillery, because there is a legitimate reason to play it: you want to get the tier 10, because that is your objective in this game, and there are also missions for artillery. But I have seen numerous accounts where arty had 10 of thousands of battles played. I mean, why is this in the game? It makes the game so un-fun for people like me who actually want to use our keyboards, move our tanks, and learn how to play successfully. I remember artillery with AP, and with HE with less splash damage. That was far less toxic, because you could actually maneuver to get away from it! Arty, Gold Shells, and Wheeled vehicles are the 3 most toxic and un-likeable things in WOT atm, in my opinion.
I remember when I was playing WOT on PS4, an arty tank could use HEAT and penetrate heavy tanks for like 500 dmg something like that or even more I don't really remember and I think it's tier IV.

When I watch this it’s a friendly reminder to me why I quit WoT and now play WoWS more, there is a class called aircraft carrier which some deem as broken too, however it is not as easy to play as Arty in WoT, you actually need to know how to avoid taking damage in the planes, and you need to account for moving targets much more severely. The day I quit world of tanks... was the day I sold my chieftain, when I was at 94.97% for the MoE and got clicked by 3 tier 10 shits in about 15 sec, T92 for 700, CGC for 500 and a GW E 100 for another 350, I was like no thanks, sold the chieftain, and have never since launched the game AND BOY AM I A HAPPIER MAN.
I used the M44 enough to unlock the M12. In the process, around 60-ish games, I managed to 1st Mark it and I think I got a Top Gun too. It's perfectly balanced.
...artillary need to suffer a reload debuff when they are in motion while reloading. but retain their default reload while Stationary with no track movements.
kinda like how the french autoloaders in reality would have to Stop the tank get out and reload the carousel . hence french autoloaders should reload Faster while stationary and much slower while moving about.
I have the M44 researched a long time ago. Still resisting the urge to buy and play arty again. But now, after watching Edvin play... and since you're insisting I buy it. I might just join the dark side.
imagine having a gun just as large as the Tier 9 French Artillery while loading ~10 seconds quicker and having a higher arc to shoot over things easier How does this make sense, another 155 arty at tier 6 (amx 13 f3) loads for 30 seconds AFTER crew skills & equipment.
