- here FINALLY finding the cause of a super annoying squeak coming from the front end of this 2019 4 runner! It always sounded like it was coming from the front left, and ONLY when hitting any size of bump on a LEFT turn ONLY.... This didn't just make our day, but made our week! Such an easy fix also!

Just bought a 2010 4runner that the dealer put a brand new lift w uca's. Went on a trip and started hearing the squeak halfway through the trip. Got home a few hours ago and was planning on calling the dealership and ripping them a new ahole, decided to youtube it and it fixed my problem, you saved me from looking like a douchebagg, thank you !

Skipped over this video for 6 MONTHS because I was so sure it was my suspension. Noticed my hood wasn’t popping like it used to, and the noise had gotten worse. So I went out there with some Vaseline and turned the knobs 3 full times before the hood shut like it should. Noise is gone. You saved my sanity.
IT WORKED!!! I have a 2013 with a lift and aftermarket upper control arms. Sound started bothering me almost a year ago and has progressively gotten worse. Everyone tried to blame the upper control arms but it was doing it before them. I started replacing sway bar bushings, end links, lubing everything. I was near replacing my lower control arms until I seen this video. It stopped ALL of the sound!! Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for posting. You have not idea how stressed I was about a bad suspesnion in a newer car. Had 90 day warranty for front to back but you dont want to be out of a vehicle waiting for repairs.....
Holy cow, I think it worked! I've been re-tourquing every bolt, and greasing every bushing for months. I can't believe it was the hood. I keep expecting to hear the squeak, but it's been quiet for days. Thanks!

Wow! It worked!! I just purchased a used 2019 4Runner after trading in my faithful 2008 that I drove for almost 10 years and started hearing this noise in my 2019 a day after purchasing it and it drove me crazy! Never heard it with my 2008 4runner with over 230k miles. The dealership couldn’t find the source of the squeak/rattle but I did thanks to your video! Like one comment said, I keep waiting for the noise but still nothing. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! TAHNK YOU!
Thanks very much for sharing this. You saved me a lot of time, and frustration. I raised my hood bumpers a half turn, and my squeak is gone.
This fixed our squeaky noise on our 2018 4Runner. All suspension checked out. And body mounts. It was the hood mounts not being level. Level them and grease the contact points.

Just wanted to chime in and say THANK YOU. This noise has been absolutely driving me insane on my GX460. Was afraid if was an issue with the KDSS ram or something but it was just the hood bumpers!

Just drove 100 miles through the desert listening to the squeak, thinking I was going to have to replace all the kdss bushings or something when I got home. Turns out wiping a little bit of dust off some rubber nubs makes it go away. Don’t think my sanity is saved but my wallet is.
Spent the last few days lubricating bushing, but just found this. Gonna give it a try. Thanks for the video!

I’ve been trying to figure out this squeak for months! I was worried about taking it to dealership and they not figuring it out. I’m going to try this tomorrow and I’ll let you know if this works for my 2018 Toyota 4 Runner Off-Road.
Thank you for posting this. Your description of the issue followed mine to a "T", and while it's still making the noise, after following the notes here tonight the sound changed, so I have to play with it a bit. It's been bugging me for about 18 months...I thought it was something with the wheel, suspension, etc.

Saved me so much money omg I had an appointment made and they were going to charge $150 just to look at it and im sure 1,000 to do something that wouldnt fit the problem! Can't believe it was this easy

Well I’ll try it cause I can’t figure mine out. 15-30 there’s a squeak and more so when turning a little. Only 70k miles seems unlikely a wheel bearing. I’ll try this before doing a deeper dive.
Fyi the stops are meant to be adjusted so hood sits flush with fenders at seam. Should not be lower or higher on either side.
Mine is doing it while in reverse over uneven areas. Just got the 4runner on Tuesday of this week. Visits the shop tomorrow

@@Machiwi-vo9nb No, it had something to do with the shop changing the brakes before I purchased it. Most likely certain brake parts were not greased at install. It kept having problems so I ended up trading it in for a brand new one. No noises atm with OEM brakes from the factory.
I'm going to try this! My 2018 4runner with only 21k miles on it was in the body shop for 2 weeks to get the whole roof replaced. I started hearing squeaking noise the day after I picked it up exactly the way you described, I also hear it coasting slight downhill and moving the steering wheel back and forth. At first i thought it could be the bushing from drying out from not being driven for 2 weeks. I lubed everything up but the noise is still there. Hope this works!

Just curious hopefully not a dumb question but is there any permanent fix to this? Can’t picture them not coming up with something so u don’t have to readjust it at times. Thanks for video by way!!
I think that's an excellent question! But unfortunately I don't have an answer. Different manufacturers design different hood latches and hinges, this one obviously allows for more lateral movement, and then there's the interaction between the rubberized compounds of the bumpers and the metal, which probably varies between manufacturers as well. This noise hasn't been a problem with my American vehicles driving the same road for close to 15 years

No way, my 2022 4runner make this same noise and it driving me crazy, and I spray silicone lube on all the bushing no help, but if it is that noise from the hood which I hope. 🙏🙏🙏
Try vaseline instead. Silicone spray did not work on my Xterra (same cause)

Welp after replacing all 4 rotors and brake pads. Your video fixed the noise with WD40 🤦

@@anesthesiadreamin will do, just did it. You’re right though I don’t hear it unless I’m coming up my driveway going over some of the cracks that the tree broke up… small side to side shifts in weight.
