I love Hayden's reaction to Munn and Blue lightning self custodial wallets. "No a lightning wallet can not be this easy or work so well, this cant be real'"
They are not simple and they are custodial wallets. They are not feasible as the on/off ramp is still an issue and they are certainly not reliable.

not only on-ramp to create the firdt lightning account, but also each time there is a need to transfer btc funds to the lightning funds, which would require one more btc transaction (on-chain), each time, and the btc transaction fees associated.
and since the small blockers plan to have less transactions on-chain and higher fees to reward miners, this will be a big incoherent mess 😂
The way to back up lightning is a pain in the arse as well.
I memorise my bitcoin and my metamask wallets easily because it's just words. But lightning takes the piss to backup, seems to be different for different wallets which is mad.
All (halfway) reliable LN-Wallets are custodial.
It started to get really interesting when the question about self custody was raised at around 27:50
The reply is rather telling and the presentation of each wallet afterwards should be rather telling as well.
This person seems to be an absolute Bitcoin noob, despite all this talking and grandstanding. I'm sure all the other "orange pilled" boomercoiners don't even don't realize what weak sauce he's peddling
I would be interested in doing my own follow up video that details my findings after conducting some research into the inner workings of the lightning "wallets".

@@JoeNakamoto I didn't say you claimed to be a pro. I listened very carefully. Fact is, you are advocating something which goes way over your head - and it is pretty much exemplatory of LN advocates. Your refusal of getting the history and fundamentals of Bitcoin straight doesn't absolve you from criticism. Points like "we're early" or "second layer can be custodial as long as layer 1 is decentralized" are absurdities. Whoever peddles them is akin to being a bad actor, willfully or not.

even the on-ramp off-ramp can't scale (a btc transaction each time a lightning user want to add funds to his lightning account), unless lightning users could fund their accounts with a wire transfer or bank card.

absolutely not. Joe Nakamoto was very kind and restrained. Hayden has obviously nothing good to say about BTC and LN, despite that was also very forgiving and open minded. There is little to no toxicity or "peacock signalling" going on here.
The way he labelled the entire defi space as "fancy" so out of touch. Its crazy how younger and younger boomers are becoming in this new age.
