Hi Steve! Can I get a little more info, as I'd like to do the same - did you need a new speed controller too or just the 48V battery upgrade and charger?
@@siverson914 Hi Steve, I have a couple of the same quads for my 10 year old daughter and my 7 year old son. Lots of fun, but I would love to upgrade them on the speed and maybe the rear shock. To eliminate the guesswork would you be willing to share a link to the motor and speed controller? Was there a lot of custom work involved? Any info you could share would be greatly appreciated! Nice work!
Hi - just seach "1800w brushless motor" on Ebay and it comes up. Lots of sellers with nearly identical products. It was ~$150 for motor, speed controller, and throttle. But, yes, it was a bit custom to get it to work. The primary difference is the original motor has a built in gear box, so I had to add a jackshaft and extra chain to gear this motor down.
@@siverson914 Here's the video of my build - ruclips.net/video/UF2p5aqpvVo/видео.html Like you, without the gear reduction of the original transmission I had to really gear it down...
Did you add reverse too? That thing is sweet now!!!
All you did to mount the motor was the plate chain and sproket?
Was installing it hard

Hi - yes, new battery, speed controller, and motor. Speed controller and motor usually come as a package on eBay.
Steve Iverson could you do a video on the step by step process of the upgrade? That would be awesome I want to do this for my son!
