    So sad. I've purchased my supplies from Brushy Mountain. In 2015 I started buying from Brushy Mountain. They were very good to work with. Very kind and helpful. So sad. I cant believe the loan company wanted the full loan amount repaid in just 5 days. Thank you for reading the report.

      Yeah, I did a lot of business with them as well, it's where I bought my very first hives and had been buying from them ever since!

    Thank you for taking the time to read this report. It's a shame - Brushy Mountain was a major donor to my local club's "youth program".

    Thank you for sharing this information. I have been a Brushy Mountain customer during the height of my days as a beekeeper. Fabulous people to deal with. This is sad.

    Sad 😨 I wonder what the old owners think? It's got to hurt. They sold a wonderful company and now it's no more. And all those people laid off. Sad. 😭

    • @islandhomesteader
      @islandhomesteader  5 лет назад +6

      Yeah, you're right it is terrible! I din't have any dealing with them before Shane bought them out, but I am sure they worked hard to build the company up to what it was. At least they won't lose the property where the retail office was since they were only leasing to the business, it is a beautiful piece of property up on top of a mountain! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Very sorry to hear of this. However it seems odd that the company would borrow more than six million dollars, and even more odd that a bank would lend that much, especially when the assets are far less than the loan amount.

      Yes it truly is. Thanks for watching and commenting! If you are looking for a new bee supply company, Blythewood Bee Company is a great company. They are a small, disabled veteran owned company that has great products and really good prices! Give them a look if you need anything. I read that article. It doesn't actually say much about what happened. Seems to be related to the new CEO and private capital.

    • @islandhomesteader
      @islandhomesteader  5 лет назад

      Well it doesn't give the specific reason that they defaulted on their loan but the fact that they did and the bank called their note is apparently the reason they closed down and obviously it has to do with the new president as he was the one who took the loan out to buy out the former owners and expand their equipment making facility. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    • @islandhomesteader
      @islandhomesteader  5 лет назад

      I don't have any idea what they are doing or have done. My guess is that they probably sold or will sell the inventory of in large blocks to other suppliers and not deal with small purchases - just my guess though. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    So sad to see a bee keeping business fail, the affects are surely felt in the local community. Perhaps on the upside, who ever purchases the manufacturing equipment and supplies will be a new upstart entrepreneur fulfilling new ambitions and jobs.

      I agree and I do hope somebody does purchase their equipment and start another local company, they would already have a trained work force if some of the former employees chose to work with them! Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Does anyone know personal that worked at BMBF? I was watching the video on how to replace a hand crank 9 frame Motorized Conversion Kit Extractor. I called Kelly Bee who purchased their product but they do not have them and I can't find one like it anywhere. Thinking if I reached an employee that new about them they could lead me to one.

    • @alhildreth5210
      @alhildreth5210 3 года назад

      We're a Mann Lake Dealer, but I cut my teeth on Brushy equipment. I bought 20 of the 9 frame SAF extractors from Kelley after Mann Lake bought Kelley. A couple had issues, and Kelley had no replacement parts. I had remembered most everything that Brushy sold was also sold by Blue Sky Bee Supply. I was able to get replacements (at my cost) to correct the two with issues.
