  • Here's a (perhaps moderately confusing?) short commercial promo for Ray Rayner and Friends on WGN Channel 9 - BUT featuring Bozo the Clown (Bob Bell), advising kids to tune-in every school day at 7am. For Ray Rayner. Not Bozo's Circus. (until like a year later, then - err, nevermind) Cross-promotional action!
Bonus: Closing segment of Star Blazers which featured a preview of the next episode (voiceover by Phil Tonken). (Ntrivia: Princess Invidia later went on to found the world's most valuable publicly traded company, with a market capitalization of over $3.3 trillion.) Followed by the first moments of the ending credit sequence.
    "WGN Television 9!"
This aired on local Chicago TV on Monday, October 29th 1979 within the 6:55am to 7:00am timeframe.

Every morning before school, Ray Rayner, lunch Bozo, after school, Spiderman and Speed Racer! Great times in Lagrange and Hinsdale in the 1970s.

I missed all this by 1 year, any recollection of TV I had started about 1980. As of 1979 I was only 2 when this was aired, by the time I was 3 years old I knew that all the good stuff came on at around 5 am. And I would will myself awake to watch it I was a strange child for a long time I thought I had powers! 🤣

In New York City, I remember WNEW-TV airing "Star Blazers" around 6:30 A.M. Seem to recall it coming on after "New Zoo Revue."

@wmbrown6 I don't remember Starblazers ever airing on WNEW 5 or being on earlier than 1980 or 1981.
I recall WNEW 5 and WKBS 48 airing Battle Of The Planets (G-Force) in 1979 and WTAF 29 airing Starblazers in the afternoon around 1980 or so.
When I came home from school in 1979, I watched Dennis The Menace on WKBS 48 and Spectreman on WTAF 29.

I was born at the end of 1975 so I was 3 years old when this promo aired. Unfortunately, I had to wait for the school bus at 7:00 A.M. so I couldn't watch Ray Rayner, let alone Bozo. The only chances of me watching them both were in the Summer months.

Ray Rayner until 8, then switch over to Captain Kangaroo for a few minutes, then the mad dash to the bus stop two streets over. Good times.

I don't understand the 3.3 trillion dollar company thing at all. You're saying the voice actor owns a trillion dollar company?
